It’s not that they don’t still herd and protect their snowstubs; it’s just that this is an addition to their previous behavior that I wasn’t allowed to actually put in in that format because the rules at this point only allow us to change relationships, not add them, for some inscrutable reason. The use of a red-colored relationship is intended for displaying the actual balance of influence in the relationship.

3. Anyway, in the northwest, water sprites turn the tables on their tealcat ambushers and capture them to use as pets.

4. Seriously Roseheart let us make new relationships instead of just altering old ones. The current restriction makes no sense.

My main motivator is that it’s now impossible for any two organisms that didn’t already have a relationship to ever get one, as well as the fact that, logically, most relationships between organisms don’t change into different ones but instead gain new facets. The current system just doesn’t make any sense for the actual design of relationships.
And I’m not asking to be the only one allowed to do this, mate. That would be dumb. Yes, I would use it to make the elves more intelligent, as others would doubtlessly use it to make their chosen species smarter as well. But it’s hardly something that would purely benefit me.
How, precisely, would added relationships be more difficult than the other systems? Each quarter will have its own relationship map, and adding, changing, and removing relationships should all be single-step alterations.

I am fully aware that these rules were in the OP from the start. However, I was making my case for why, now that we’re actually using them, I feel them to be flawed.
Playtesting is a thing for a reason. It’s much easier to see an issue when it’s in progress than from just looking at the rules of play.

Yes, so please continue to give more. one of the greatest things about forum games over other games is they can change. But be ready to accept the big fat no when it comes.

Seriously, based on your experience managing that mage guild, you are a Forum Game Designer screaming to crawl out of their shell. I hope I do get to play Glass' Old Planet, some day.

Another example of why the alteration system doesn’t work. You can’t show that someone is now getting even more utility out of something than they were before.
