And new labor "cartographer" who will create map of the fortress and the rest of the map to reveal territory. You need paper for it of course

Actually seeing Dwarves dislike objects based on ethics would be great. A Fell mood object should produce something that disturbs everyone who sees it.

Cartography skill determines the accuracy of the game map, so if you don't devote some of your embark points to it, all you will see is a bunch of grey scribbly lines outside the immediate area your starting dwarves are in. If you forget to bring at least one sheet of paper, you won't see anything outside the visible/beardable range of your dwarves. Like the bookkeeper, the cartographer needs an office, and will occasionally update the game map to reflect the current known area, often with various mistakes and inaccuracies. Dyes gain an additional use, since without dimple dye, you can't colour the water and such.

Also introducing the Geology skill: Dwarves unskilled in geology will reveal platinum, ore, gems, and adamantium veins where there actually are none. They will automatically mine them out, too, even from crucial support columns. This goes paw-in-paw with realistic collapse physics, so load bearing supports are now of extra importance.

Negative skill in Geology would reveal that the whole map is somehow ore.
Negative skill in Cartography would produce a map that looked like a child drew it, with huge and glaring errors, like a river that ends abruptly, a couple of floating islands and tiles that randomly change color every map redraw. That, and sometimes the entire map gets shuffled around because the "cartographer" got confused.

A cartographer that also has at least one other noble position other than hammerer or commander has a random chance of writing a document and labeling it as a map. This will cause the player to see a procedurally generated document instead of a map outside of the dwarves' sight. The type of document would be influenced by what the cartographer's other position is, so a mayor can write down an import agreement draft or a formal letter to the king, a sheriff/captain of the guard can write down a report, a champion - "The magnificent diary of the great warrior Urist Verystrong, 21st of slate 285", a manager - an order, a bookkeeper - stockpile contents, a broker - his most recent trades, an outpost liaison - the state of the kingdom, a messenger could swap the map and the message he was supposed to deliver, and any mandating noble can write down a mandate.
The chance is increased with how stupid a dwarf is.

That doesn't bode well, given the nature of nobles.

A cartographer that has become insane will write nonsense on the map. The nature of the nonsense depends on the type of insanity.
Also, the map is a physical item that can be worn down by fire and invaders.

The artifact map will reflect the surronding world with 100% precision. But any change made on the map immediately will be reflected back to the world. Erase a city from the map and it will be erased in the  real world. draw a rivel and i got new water stream

But any change made on the map immediately will be reflected back to the world.
If a child vandalizes the artifact map with art supplies, the areas affected turn to a material of a random color, but with the same symbol as the original.
For example, say that many hematite veins are turned bright green. Hematite, in this case, turns to garnierite, ruining your iron industry.
