Ah, fine. I wanted to do something cool for our secondary weapon, but I guess we can just do a boring old regular grenade and decide on our special resource later.

Incidentally, vote for the boring old regular bolt-action- stick to the theme, get rewarded.

Or vote for the Semi-Auto: Still in the theme, though just better (And there's no guarantee that we'll encounter trenches anyway. Or at least ones we can't just overrun.).

Anyway, no thoughts about the helmet Nuke?

Do you have any sources on the Stahlhelm being significantly more effective than the Brodie? Cursory research suggests that they had upsides and downsides, but neither was vastly superior.

Also, if we aren't using Myomer in any designs right now, it would probably be better to decide on our special material later, right?

Going by wikipedia, the stahlhelm offers excellent protection due to it's coverage, while the brodie helmet leaves the back neck exposed due to the design and offered less protection than other designs in service at the time as a result. Links Here for the Stalhelm, Here for the Brodie.

Yeah, thanks for that. I managed to look things up on Wikipedia by myself. :/
The Stahlhelm had problems of its own according to Wikipedia, to wit a reduction in hearing and significantly increased cost of production. Whilst the Stahlhelm may have offered more protection, I saw nothing to indicate that it offered a significant amount more- if one side were to pick Brodies and the other Stahlhelms, I highly doubt so much as a single battle in the entire war would come down to which helmet was used.
So given that it's mostly an aesthetic choice, I figure going for the one not associated with literal nazis is preferable.

I'd like to point out the one the germans used ended up being adopted (in a design sense) by the US. No point fearing a helmet because nazis used it, since that's... well, an over-reaction? Especially since the increased protection is worth it (and the hearing problems were solved adequately in the M1918 version)

The fact that it was an iconic nazi item would not cause me to dismiss a more effective piece of equipment. I'm saying that I've seen no evidence that the Stahlhelm was a significantly superior piece of kit; I think the difference is primarily aesthetic.

So why are you dismissing it here? It's still effective in protecting our soldiers necks when the alternative you have does not actually reflect that.

People are dismissing Gavrilium for "just" being a power source.
Not only are power sources *immensely* useful for a huge variety of things -- energy weapons, vehicles, power armor/mechs (though Myomer would also be useful for those, admittedly), and much more, but Gavrilium is intended to be more than "just" a power source. It's intended to mimic the applied phlebotinum present in other pieces of media; like Naquadauh in the Stargate series of shows.

For instance, we could make a design that causes Gavrillium placed around armor to passively emit an energy field at a controlled rate, effectively making an energy shield. We could use it to make a plasma gun by plasmifying Gavrilium-U with a bullet lead. We could do a lot with it.
And, of course, there's the part where Gavrilium would be immensely useful in unlocking the true potential of other special resources that we later design or discover.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

If anyone asks why I'm here, it's all Chiefwaffle's fault.

Sorry for all the ties, but I like being thematically appropriate for the rifle and prefer to have more power instead of a basically-useless fancy muscle replacement, which leads me to pick the fancy grenade instead of the regular one. Personally I think that we should do something not yet seen in ARs---so not power armor, basically. Instead it might be cool to build a military that actually DOES revolve around VE and NE behemoths (after we fill out the rest of our needs), because if it's effective enough it doesn't matter if it's outnumbered, and hopefully the GM will balance this so we can be just as effective as the other team.

I'd prefer the Stahlhelm, NUKE, because it is in fact more effective despite hearing problems and what-have-you. That's why the Americans adopted the design, it provides better protection and that benefit outweighs the alternatives. And it isn't an iconic Nazi item either, or shouldn't be, seeing as how the Germans used it through two World Wars and the US adopted it and I think still uses the design today.

VE and NE behemoths will always be swarmed or out of combat long enough that their effects would greatly be diminished compared to someone that uses more pragmatic methods. Moreover, Gavilium doesn't provide us the means to build these behemoths.

And we can't really do anything not seen in an AR, because anything not seen in one is generally too impractical to put into service (death balls aside) or else had more pressing issues. Simply put, costly behemoths are never practical.
