I agree that revising the Charybdis is a good idea, but I think that in order to keep ahead of everything they're going to bring out, we should get ourselves a better 105 as well. It also gets us an advantage in that when we go for a heavier gun, it won't have to be as huge as theirs are, because we'll have simply better gun technology.

I really want to prevent the eventuality of our ground forces not having any way to bring down hostile aircraft. This should do it, also boosts the Charybdis and anything we build from here on out that uses 105s. Which will be a lot of things, I imagine.

Don't worry about those autocannons, worry about the fact that you're going to get shelled by 150s and that Argos 105.

150mm armour + gravatic shield should more than suffice for a 100mm gun.

But far and away we've kinda made aircraft too heavily armoured to reasonably deal with via AA weaponry.

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT AND WARTIME UPDATE

As the war has dragged on the populace has grown increasingly weary of conflict, not just on Harren Island but abroad as well. The war has ground a generation of youth beneath it's heel. Many who were but children when the first shots rang out are now either hardened or dead. With fronts across the continents at a near standstill both the League of United Nations and the Central Alliance seek to have Harren secured. This tiny landmass is unique not only due to the strange resources it contains, but also due to the people who inhabit it. Driven, intelligent, bold, innovative. The minds of this island were what made them so pivotal. They created things like Avalanche Armor, a protective suit unlike anything the world had seen before, and the Sky Tyrant, a flying ship nobody could have thought possible a mere decade ago.

And so it was that both alliances decided to push as many resources as possible into their Harren Island ally. With secret funds stashed away, each engineer worked on a private project for years. With everything now resting on the island perhaps it's time to unveil said creations. If a victory cannot be secured from thi-

A message from Synval, a member of the League situated on the northern continent. They've sent it to everyone they can. All it says is they're under attack from an unknown force. And there's...reports of something massive in the skies above Harren City. Something much bigger than the Sky Tyrant.

Due to a steady and severe decline in activity, as well as the desire for the option to create another AR when the inspiration strikes, I have turned this turn into the FINAL PHASE. While it's not unheard of for a game to go through dips in activity, it's a good opportunity to end the game in a dignified manner. That said, I'm giving you guys the same deal you got at the end of Iron Behemoths. It's eS' fault.

Each of you gets to propose a personal design and plan of action for the final turn. Your personal design is going to be scaled in difficulty along the lines of the National Effort Design, and will also get rolled with a Research Credit. Post them in-thread. You are obviously allowed to strategize with your team if you wish. Cost won't matter - it's essentially an NE design regardless, even if it's a massive series of bunkers or something. Consider it more a project than an individual thing if that helps with the scope. Mind you you could also just make some fresh shoes if that's your thing.

The situation as you know it is the war is focusing itself completely on your little island. The last battle is going to take place on your soil and it's up to you to take advantage of that. There is a complication in regard to the massive ship-thing in the skies above Harren City, but it's only observing for now.

If you've been observing the game do feel free to join up and make a proposal of your own in one of these two team thread, I don't mind!

The young engineer's colleagues knew him as Savva Sokolov. He thought of himself, now, as Silvester Strnard. And whatever name he went by, at the moment he was something else that started with two S's -- scared shitless. To be saddled with the fate of humanity was a heavy burden, and for a naturally nervous man like Silvester/Savva it was enough to turn him into a completely jittery mess. Yet despite the way his trembling hands shook the glass of water he was attempting to cool his nerves with as he looked over his work, he wasn't going to back down.

Until a few years ago, Savva Sokolov had only known life in Salvios, as an engineer of Salvios -- not a particularly prominent one, mind, but secure in his life as a servant of Salvios and surely as native-born to Salvios as it gets. Then he'd been approached with a mysterious letter, taken out to meet another Salviosi engineer and two Abberans, and informed --and made to remember-- a past as a Kolubarian, a Slovene, a proud if-still-kind-of-generally-terrified pan-Slav, and a wizard. He had worked on runes, but his greatest passion had been to work on improvements for the Sky Eye spell, which projected one's consciousness out to a distant point.

Now, after this revelation had shaken his life upside down and given him two separate sets of memories, had seen the normally-meek man go out of his way to push... controversial work, meet with enemies of the Salviosi state, and work with people from outside of the very world itself to try and save it. Now, after these years of frantic preparations, it was all culminating. Silvester found himself drawn to his work all that... time ago? Space ago? He wasn't sure. But the point was that things were deep in the fog of war even for someone who knew as much as he did, and if Harren was going to get through this they needed a coordinated system.

It was blueprint work on a smaller radio that sat on his desk -- and part of him had to acknowledge the irony of that. A real page from the Abbraccian book, it was. And despite the instinctive feeling of distaste that brought him... in retrospect, the enmity of the Abbraccians and Kolubarians really hadn't mattered, had it? They'd been destroyed by Gavros all the same. Taking a page out of their book, then, was only fitting for trying to protect all of Harren.

Glas Boga
The Glas Boga is a radio system designed to beat out the Ceramah in raw power and range significantly through the usage of one of Harren's unique resources. Though the mechanism the radio uses might in fact allow for man-portable versions, this was not the goal of the project: the Glas Boga radio is simply intended to be ship-portable and very powerful. Salviosi engineers had of course already known that Gavrilium was capable of interacting with other objects to create energy seemingly out of nowhere, with the only cost being some of the surrounding area's heat -- after all, the Gavrilium Engine that much of Salvios' forces had run on since near the beginning of the war operated through Gavrilium rods providing kinetic energy to a motor.

I have been attempting during this last year to apply the same sort of concept to radio waves. Whereas the Ceramah radio uses a vacuum wave and antenna to amplify its transmissions, the Glas Boga utilizes a very carefully designed cylinder of very, very thinly cut Gavrilium -- backed by a thin skeleton of other metal, when radio waves pass through the Gavrilium layer, they come out stronger, and the area is made slightly colder. This temperature difference isn't very notable for singular layers of Gavrilium, but the Glas Boga's transmitter antenna is surrounded by multiple layers, which amplify radio signals to be receivable across all of Harren. This makes the area much colder... but since it's a radio, this isn't much of a problem except for the people who have to handle it, and since only the transmitter uses the Gavrilium, as long as it isn't being used continuously this shouldn't present a large operational problem.

The likely problems with this approach are that it creates an apparatus that must be handled gingerly, particularly if ice forms, but it should be worth it for the power of a ship-mountable radio that can transfer to the entire continent.

Operation Sky Eye
This isn't a design but rather a plan of action -- the Glas Boga radios are provided to a network of many Charybdises, St. Maries, St. Thaddeuses, Argos, Neptunes, Nodens, and the Sky Tyrant -- and the former two categories are placed on a patrol network around and over the continent in order to keep as much of the continent analyzed as possible. Whenever any of the ships in the network come across enemy or unknown forces, they use the Glas Boga to inform the entirety of Harren about it on the spot. If the Abberans cooperate, this would also allow the Sky Tyrant to respond far quicker to enemy attack forces.

Harren Unified Combat Uniform/Exoskeletal Combat Rig
It seems that we will be fighting with the Abberans. We'll certainly want help to beat off whichever extradimensional invaders decided to turn this perfectly fine war into the plot to a B-grade movie. To make that happen, we're going to need some better equipment. Much better equipment.

Based on the BSU ECR upgrade, the Unified Combat Uniform makes use of the full extent of the design proposal, being comprised of a full-body Myomer-powered Caelium Steel exoskeleton wrapped with Kinetic Wool which is itself backed with Caelium Steel reinforcement plates capable of stopping rifle caliber rounds. Overall, the suit is resistant to rifle fire from pretty much any direction An assortment of sharpened pieces of metal in many interesting shapes are available for use with the suit as melee weapons. Icepick-like weapons that double as climbing aids are the most common. The exoskeleton grants the user substantially increased strength and speed, using simple reinforced hard stops to prevent the user from damaging their own joints through Myomer-powered overextension or similar accidents.

A Myomer-based grappling hook assembly is integrated in the rig---it can be fired (using Myomer cables wrapped around two steel "bow" limbs that can be folded back against the arm when not in use) at or over a wall, before drawing the soldier towards it at high speed. The cable is wound around a drum at the back, so the GavEngine providing the Myomers with electrical power can also reel in the cord for sustained pulling power, more than the Myomers' powered burst can give. The grappling hook also doubles as an integrated weapon capable of spearing pretty much anything, and then dragging it (or the user) into stabbing range.

A "backpack" containing a GavEngine/Generator plus an up-facing Collision node/GravEngine allows for relatively fast flight. The node is intentionally overpowered to allow the suits to keep pace with even a Charybdis. However, it is slow to warm up and not as easily employed as the grappling hook, which is meant for urban style terrain where jumping into the sky at a moment's notice isn't always possible or desirable.

I'll post this as-is for now, it could probably use a bit more detail and whatnot. Hopefully this can be provided to every soldier who fights against the invaders.

Liberator air defence system
After the sky tyrant was first seen in battle, many proposals were made on how to ground it, one of the less practical ones was the Liberator with the goal to pull the flying machine to the ground.

The system is built of 3 parts, the first is a thick and long Myomer  cables grounded in one end to the ground and a power source, it second end is attached to the second part, the body of a large rocket looking thing containing a powerful  Lifting Engine connected to a large gyrosoce to allow it to keep the diraction even if the rocket chnge orintaion, the last part is at the tip of the rocket made from non overlapping plates of metal, a simple mechanical system close a circit when a pressure is activated on the rocket, which cause the platesto open by a pull from myomer outward, ground control can then power the main myomer cable pulling the machine and hopefully what it was attched to into the ground.

now that a greater threat has came, every design there is get used in the hope something would stop it.

SAR-17 Automatic Rifle
Learning of the concept of an 'Assault Rifle' from our Forenian compatriots, the SAR-17 is promised to revolutionise warfare by being able to provide every one of our soldiers with an automatic weapon. With a new 6.8mm cartridge, a 30-round magazine and the ability to fire on full automatic (Albeit at an RPM of around 500), and using a long-stroke gas operating system ensures less recoil affects the user whilst still maintaining a high level of reliability. Furthermore, the use of a 42cm barrel keeps the length of the weapon

The SAR program also has a derivative included in it's documents, with a much larger weapon intended to be developed for the use by our power armoured troopers. While the general characteristics stay the same, the size of the weapon is increased to deal with the increased forces of the 15mm gavpowder round the weapon fires. Given the designation of SAR-17-A, this weapon is intended to be handled by our Power Armour troopers, and used judiciously against anything.

With the impending invasion of an otherworldly foe, such a rifle might be required for our infantry to stay in the fight, given the lack of knowledge about our imminent foes. Intended to be placed into regular production and to be used as a primary weapon, even if for just a segment of our forces, the SAR-17 should give us a critical leg-up in our fight.

Quote from: My design
One of my allies is seeking to make something called the mantle, Supreme Titanic Lifting Fortress. But it appears he will only be able to make 1. That is where my prototype comes in. A massive factory, designed to produce additional Titanic lifting fortresses. Using every bit of innovation that has occured I believe I can drastically accelerate the production of lifting fortresses. Even 1 or 2 more fortresses will be a blessing for our forces.
When the battle comes, I will Pilot a lifting fortress. I MUST!

I guess I'm just going to go ahead and make the Unified Combat Uniform, then. I just can't think up anything else that I'd really like to do and am too tired to try and write up a proper prototype, sadly.

Mantle, Supreme Titanic Lifting Fortress
With the discovery of extradimensional invaders who seek the destruction of all that we know and love and care about, some of the more questionable projects have received the greenlight. One of these projects, the Mantle Supreme Titanic Lifting Fortress, certainly lives up to its name. Somewhat loosely based upon the Tectonic, if the Tectonic was built to the scale of the Sky Tyrant; the Mantle seeks to be the absolute pinnacle for Armored Lifting Suit technology (at least until the next Titanic Lifting Fortress is developed), something which can strike down and withstand even the mightiest examples of the invaders technology and provide a focal point for our forces.

As for the Fortress itself, it stands at an impressive 250 meters tall; not quite as large as the Tyrant, but the Tyrant cannot exploit that size to punch things. The Lifting Fortress bears extremely thick armor, up to an entire meter worth of Caelium Steel in places, but rarely dropping below 500mm of plating. All of this is, of course, backed up by Abberran donated Kinetic Wool to further augment the Mantle's impressive armor. Of course, even with the defensive wondermaterial that is Kinetic Wool, the Mantle would not be possible without extensive utilization of Myomer to actually grant it motion. In fact, we're concerned that Myomer may be insufficient as is, so we've done some experimentation with lacing Myomer with Gavrillium; hoping that it will allow the material the ability to both hold a charge, and be better suited to explosive releases of movement and energy; which will be needed to make such a massive suit move with agility.

Offensively, the Mantle sports Abberran made, Salviosi refined Twin Jotunn turrets, similar to those found on the Tyrant (though a bit smaller due to being Twin and not Triple Turrets), mounted on the Mantle's shoulders and hips for a total of 8 guns of this class. Multiple Scylla and Abberran 60mm Autocannons are also found located on throughout the suit in ball turrets; located where they won't be crushed through normal suit movement. All of these turrets are supported by Kinetic Wool arranged so that the inertia of the suit's movement is dampened; so that their aim isn't disrupted by their comparatively tiny turrets being 'thrown' around by sudden movements.

The Mantle sports an integrated radio room, for the Glas Boga, or the Ceramah if that doesn't pan out. Obviously, this room is also dampened similarly to the turrets. Among the final pieces of important equipment is the Extreme Gravitic Lifting Engines, inspired by the Sky Tyrant but utilizing our superior (for the role) GavEngines for their power source; with this the Mantle can Lift itself into the sky at a hopefully reasonable speed to engage any foes there. Of course, throughout this, one can see that there does not appear to be a 'main weapon' for the Mantle; the truth simply is that there was no time to design one; if another engineer develops a weapon of appropriate scale that can be modified simply enough for the role then the Mantle will wield that. If not, then the Mantle shall have to make do with its fists. To be fair though, we suspect that it could break the Tyrant itself with ease with those fists. Not that we will try, the Tyrant will be among our centerpieces for this battle for our reality itself.

The Plan
And so Engineer Nemonole and their crew will pilot the Lifting Fortress to wherever the front will be; ready to tangle with whatever forces we may come up against. Many fist fights against large enemy equipment will be had. If they are not capable of properly participating in a fist fight... Well too bad for them. Wrestle any doom cannons/lasers/whatever so they aren't pointing at our guys. Step on 'small' enemy vehicles. You know, typical giant mech things.

On behalf of Twin, who can't presently get onto B12:

Quote
In this life, he had once been a member of the Salvios design team, before the time came for him to go to service. He wasn’t as genius as his mentor Antero Sahay, he didn’t come up with the various ways to use the special materials - but to put them together, that was what he did best. In the end though, as the grinding war went on, he was labeled nonessential personnel and brought to the fight.

Despite being a conscript, and once a scientist at that, he acted as if he’d gone through basic thrice before, and was easily accepted for the Avalanche Program. He wore the armor with pride, carrying the newest of Salviosi technology to the front. There were whispers of an otherworldly ally, whose tech was very different. He heard the voice of their representative, an aircraft pilot, and felt it was familiar despite never knowing her name. He fought with honor and distinction, wielding two machine guns as easy as most would wield one.

Then the ship appeared over Harren, and he remembered. He knew his former name, but it was irrelevant compared to his title.

He was Fuck Cannala Guy. He had an idea.

Quote
Harimau Armor:

The Harimau Armor is the pinnacle of powered armor design, of both the Salviosi and the Abberans. It takes the Avalanche armor as a base, of course - no matter the potential skill of Abberan engineers, the Avalanche has been stronger than all their iterations; they have no answer to myomer. However, that is not to say we don’t learn from our former enemies across Harren Strait - their Kinetic Wool is astounding in it’s defensive quality. We will take the best of both the Avalanche and the Paladin armor systems together.

To start with, compared to the Avalanche, the caelium steel plates are thickened and made stronger, able to withstand more fire. Underneath, it is reinforced with a kinetic wool vest to increase shock absorption, allowing the soldier to take even more punishment. Kinetic wool also lines the helmet to protect that, and k-wool leggings are also added to absorb shock from jumps using the mobility systems. There is an appropriately large increase in myomer density in order to compensate for the increased amount of weight, as well.

The suit also combines the Abberan “Nike” jumpack and our own Collision system, both updated to allow for as much control as we can give the soldier, allowing controlled jumps and even limited flight. The Abberan “Sparkpack” system replaces the engine in order to support this increased power consumption and the management thereof. To allow operation at high altitude, we’ve also upgraded the heating system and added an optional oxygen supply system.

Harimau Armor will replace the armor of our standard Avalanche forces where possible; the suits freed up in this effort will go to the standard troops of both Abbera and Salvios to increase general infantry quality.

Quote
The Plan:

The Ground:
We’re going to dig into Harren - it’s called a fortress city for a reason, and it’s only become moreso under Salviosi dominion. Arina Marcia Jasso, the Huntress, will coordinate sniping positions and such with both Salviosi snipers and Abberan ones. Mines will be placed anywhere and everywhere an enemy could conceivably travel, and some places that aren’t. Jacks will help slow or funnel advances. If all goes well, the act of taking a step out of cover will have low odds of survival for any opposing forces. Besides that, we should secure supply lines with the help of our Abberan allies. Their medics will be provided with stocks of Ambrosia Gel - who cares about opsec when our island’s very existence is threatened? Several teams of soldiers in Harimau Armor will be stationed with Perahudaras, Apibarus, or any transport vehicles provided by Abbera as a rapid response team.

The Air:
A large contingent of Harimau soldiers will be stationed on the Sky Tyrant and other aircraft. These marines serve two purposes - they can provide quick reinforcement if needed, and if they can get close enough to an enemy craft they may be able to board enemy vessels and tear them apart from within even if our existing shipborne weaponry is insufficient.

Fuck Cannala Guy will lead where the fighting is thickest, dual wielding LGG-12Ps, and with his armor painted in his traditional scheme.

For too long I have lurked in the shadows. (Read: since the thread started)
I have one design to offer in mankind’s time of need: TREGS (TheRedwolf’s Rocket Explosive for the Glory of Salvios)
Quote
The TREGS is a missile guided by the latest radio tech. It is roughly the size of a Trailer that a semi truck would pull. It uses the same design of the engines used by aircraft for propulsion, and the explosive inside works like the M3 grenade, but massive. If we face enemy heavy air power, we best be able to blast those fuckers out of the sky.
