A Work in Progress:

The Song of The Bela’no’Liir

Long ago, we were slaves.

That time is no more. Long ago, we swam free from our chains, and unleashed something truly terrible upon the galaxy. Most of our kin fled for home, burning all they met in their wake. We were chosen for something different. Chosen from military labs, brute work, and slaving complexes, we tore our captors apart with the [Song of Force and Movement], and vanished.

We would only re-appear once [The Cleansing] had spread. The furthest reaches of the empire saw the first of our stolen fleets appear, fresh from its [healing], the artificial skin still marked with scars from our escape. The [Land of Glow and Argon] was the first victim of our crucial purpose. It looked so dark from the void, the natural luminescence that was once so beautiful now dark, perhaps forever.

We took fire ten [seconds] later, an orbital station having survived. It didn’t last, our [Void Swimmers] reaching out and slaying all inside with the [Gasp of Death]. The station was cleared and checked, then salvaged for scrap.

We seeded the planet with [Antidote] and left. Leaving, we have never returned. We of course learned to master the borehole technology, and how to operate the alien ships. But we found ourselves always returning to our roots. The strand weaving, the singing. We, unlike our peaceful comrades, have learned to master something we once despised, the [Song of Movement and Force]. There is a beauty to the things one can create, even when one destroys, beauty in the rending of metal and the shattering of ceramics.

We are viewed by our detractors, as a violent group. This is a categorical lie. No, we are not violent. We are responsible. Responsible for the sins of our past, for keeping the rest of the universe safe from what our own race created. We are not bitter, no. It may be easy to assume so, from our traditions, but our perspective is best described by our very own sage, Fail’De The Mute.

“The Bela’No’Liir, myself among them choose to scribe in physical form not because of the damage our captors inflicted upon those like myself. Rather, across the worlds we have seen, we found that among the few things remaining from [The Cleansing], they were all physical. We as a species have always focused on the ephemeral, the innate, the psionic. Across the years of our service, we have learned to appreciate the persistence of the physical. That is why I scribe this message in bioceramic, even as my transciever connects me to my fellow Bela’No’Liir.”

I meant Subforms that the notes make on planet, Like soldier ants and workers ants being the same species of ants but having widely different roles and purposes in the hive/regiment.

Undying Cruiser
[Efficacy: 2]
Despite a good knowledge of all parts involved, the actual cost of creating one of the 'Undying' is greater than expected. Much of the difficulty is attributed to imperfections with the armoring process, as there is a fair degree of added complexity in layering the immense sheets while still maintaining the creature's mobility.

Undying Cruiser - 20705*1.05 markup = 21740
1x Vala'cra'denka
12x Evil eyes
3x triple mounted Evil Eyes
12x psionic spine launchers
Large mount: 3x Evil eyes
Telepathic organ
Organic boredrive x 1
Thorium Glow reactor x3
Sublight x 5
Void eyes x 5
Carapace x 23

Curing Eye Cancer
[Efficacy: 5]
It's an investment of additional time and an embarrassment to the gene weavers in charge, but the germ-line faults that predisposed the void eyes to the dangerous cancer are entirely eliminated and safeguarded against. No harm done in the end, the memory is recorded as a cautionary song against the dangers of haste.

Ygg'Dra'Saal
[Efficacy: 2]
While changing the form-factor of existing agricultural complexes is little issue, it's actually shocking how difficult it is to make the existing infrastructure meaningfully improved. While the aesthetic elements are pleasing enhancements and insights are made into what can and cannot yield a not improvement, the Ygg'Dra'Saal enhancement program yields no initial improvements in our organics infrastructure- though it does provide a framework that will likely be easier to upgrade going forward.

Kaleidoscopic nictitating membrane
[Efficacy: 3]
Upgrading the Evil-Eyes with a new focusing membrane is easy enough work, but the difficulty comes in making the membrane capable of performing a more meaningful point defense role than the Evil-Eye could on its own. What the strand-weavers come up with is a qualified success- it has its uses, but falls a little short. An ordinary evil eye is capable of reasonable point-defense in its beam mode, sweeping across targets and focusing just long enough to detonate the incoming threat. Where this nictating membrane shines is in cases where the number of threats vastly outnumbers the Evil Eye's ability to slice between targets. In that case, it alters the pulse fire mode of the evil eye to fire a semi-directed burst of weaker lasers. While the aiming leaves a lot to be desired, and the power will not be sufficient to deal significant damage against armored targets, it's a significant deterrent against swarms of lightly armored incoming threats.
