Balancing Acts: Industry
« on: December 08, 2017, 07:38:39 pm »

The force of the mind, made manifest in the world through the sweat of brows and the power of the imagination. It draws energy from mortals, and the things they produce. It cares not for the chaotic and  unruliness of nature, only seeing it as the great bastion of resources it is.

Industry awoke through the continent with the arrival of the First Men, aroused by their innovation and their tools. Their domination of the land was opposed, the creation hindered that would see them elevated. Industry’s champions would not stop, could not stop, until intelligent creatures would be able to spread and harvest and create without restrictions.

As Nature and Industry are rather vague terms, especially when applied to a god game, I’ve decided that your teams first task will be to decide 2 traits for yourself. An opposite of that trait will be applied to the other team, as long as it would apply to them. These traits can be negative, though they don’t have to be. Your team will also receive 2 traits from the other team. These traits will help determine goals, and effect what actions you can take “like Order can’t form rebellions.

Example: Chaos Trait: Freedom, Opposite Trait: Tyranny

Nature will post their first pair of traits in the general forum first, Industry will post their first pair, then Nature and then Industry will wrap it up.

Improvement, Stoicism. (Nature would get regression or stagnation and emotionalism.)

Mass Production
Innovation

As the Industry side, being able to outproduce is paramount to our concept. Nature might have a few blessed champions, but it won't do much good when a thousand rifle-armed soldiers fire en masse. More peaceful applications nwoupd include stuff like ensuring that every follower had their consumer goods and needs cared for, as supplied by the divine factories, ensuring their loyalty.

Innovation is useful as this way we can think of yet more ways of attaining victory. It's inverse trait also dumbs down the opposition.

How about Improvement and Mass Production? Improvement is more general, and would cripple Nature more by having to take the opposite.
Also, I'm partial to Improvement.

Ok, new plan. Industrialization means making things, changing them to our needs.
In other words: refinement.

Traits of refinement and mass production sound good to everyone?
(This would, naturally, lead to the Nature team being unable to refine their items into better, or even usable, forms. They have to just leave it all as-is. Only we can improve stuff. Also, they have to deal with hand-making everything slowly, at maybe slightly higher-quality, not enough to justify it in any way other than they're required to do so.)

To clarify Refinement to C2 when they get on:

Refinement is not the refinement of a refined gentleman. Refinement is akin to an oil refinery, taking the resources that Nature created and making them into something better.

Nature makes iron ore, but Industry and refinement turn it into steel, able to be shaped to a useful form.

Nature has its natural laws, but we refine them into mathematical facts that we can exploit to make our machinery.

Nature has wood and stone, but Industry and refinement must be used to take all these pieces and make them into a spear, a maul, a house, anything that is more than how nature made it.

Nature has resources, yes. But it is Industry that actually does things with them.

Ok, I think that we're doing Refinement and Reproducibility. Check Discord for details.

Basically, if we can do something once, we can do it again.

We haven't decided that at all, especially when half the team isn't online :p

Well, it's another idea, at least. Growing off the other one.
