Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Astalos Battle Theme]

A lot of things happen in the second that the Zoanthrope prepares to charge Maki and Viv, Viv bracing herself by picking up a garbage can lid from.....somewhere and holding it out in front of her like a shield and Maki preparing to pounce out of the way. Yui refreshes you all with some more speed from her music.

The Zoanthrope charges a little bit forward.

A burst of searing plasma smashes into the Zoanthrope directly, as Haruko's blast hits the barrier dead-on. The barrier flickers intensely, clearly damaged by Haruko's attempt to stall the Zoanthrope, but it doesn't seem to have stopped it or even slowed it at all, though it has set fire to quite a fair portion of the wooden debris, so go figure. It still seems hellbent on charging down Viv and Maki, the very ground shaking beneath its feet and the debris of the stage cracking and crumbling beneath its charge.

It's not far from Maki and Viv now. Amelie's trying to get there as fast as she can, but the Zoanthrope is closer to both of them than she is. She might not-

Or she wouldn't, if the mother of all cabinet floods hadn't suddenly appeared, along with all sorts of ball bearings, banana peels, nails, caltrops and what have you, started pouring out onto the Zoanthrope's path. Like, if you opened up a dozen overcrowded cabinets full of random junk from the hardware store, packed to the brim, and combined all the resulting piles of anti-foot hazards, you still wouldn't quite get close to the level of how much random junk that Juliet just threw at it, skating right between Maki, Viv and the Zoanthrope.

It slows it down for a few moments as the combination of the heavily damaged, but intact barrier and the sheer weight of the Zoanthrope simply crushes the obstacles beneath its feet like so much cereal beneath a car tire.

It does buy Juliet and everyone else a few moments, however. Just a few.

Enough for Maki, suddenly very aware of its trajectory and speed courtesy of Taro (though the information is still rather garbled, as you might expect from a guy who just suffered the mother of all hangovers without being drunk), to leap out of the way. Enough for Amelie to yank Viv out of the way with some gravity, pulling her to safety.

Enough for Juliet to instinctively attempt to defend herself before the ground starts rumbling, the Zoanthrope still charging at her, Juliet now the new target of its rampage-

And then the earth straight up opens underneath it.

As Agatha musters an immense effort, the ground opens beneath the gargantuan Zoanthrope, attempting to swallow all of it. The Zoanthrope, of course, is large enough to even resist the massive maws, continuing to charge ahead as the maws close around the barrier-

And the barrier breaks as a burst of magic, courtesy of Hecate, explodes upon it, and the maws clamp around its rear end.

The Zoanthrope screeches in pain as the maws clamp onto its behind, rearing up and slamming its head into Juliet as its momentum is suddenly arrested, the maws cracking open the side that Maki already damaged as the black polymer making up the outside of its body cracks into uselessness, revealing a massive area of inflamed grey flesh. Though it still hurts to be rammed by a giant armored whale, the main thing Juliet suffers is being knocked back by its charge. On the plus side, the Zoanthrope is now trapped for the moment, as it thrashes around, front limbs and head flailing around like a wounded animal, though it won't be held for very long, as the maws are beginning to crack.....

"Ahahahaha! Burn, you monster!" Haruko seemed to be enjoying this far too much. Her hands started venting plasma as she slowly brought them together in front of herself; this had the effect of sending spurts and streams of the stuff everywhere, though what didn't impact anything seemed to slowly start drifting back down toward her target. The cone of solar fire blasting from her hands only continued to grow more intense, blanketing the monster with the stuff. Haruko herself was starting to radiate an uncomfortable and possibly dangerous amount of heat, along with glowing slightly.

Viv spies the opportunity in the beast's exposed flesh, and pulls her Soulphone out of nowhere, making a call to ACME.

Viv summons a large red-hot iron poker, and charges towards the beast with it, ramming the molten iron into the exposed flank.

"Ah. There we go."

From his vantage point behind the beast, Yamato sees the chance the whale's immobility provides for what it is; an opportunity for him to stab it. He, naturally, decides to take it, violently and with extreme prejudice.

He rushes forward, blade first towards the whale's exposed side and plunges the sword in with all the force he can muster. Then he brings it out and starts slashing, stabbing and generally trying to cause as much damage as he can.

Burn the only 3 for Initial Hidden Sword, use an Alteration to change the roll to the rightmost 6.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR... PRESTOOOOO, FESTIQUE!"
Yui clasps together her hands, and lays her hands upon her faithful instrument. Her fingers finding the strings, readying herself. She breathes, and as her hand strikes the strings, a large burst of music notes fly out in a rainbow of colors, swiftly striking the party. But, instead of hurting, they seem to make everyone feel... stronger. Not necessarily physically, but mentally as well. As if they could take down anything in their way.

"Hey, hey Haruko! Calm down a bit, I like this park!" Amelie called out, although her tone was just a bit too cheerful for the situation. She charges forward feet first again, throwing her momentum into a gravity kick towards the weak point, and then backing off to throw Haruko a heal.

"Haruko? Haruko! Do you mind not burning this park down? Focus on the whale! Everyone, get ready to take cover if you can, it's going to get messy!"
Maki rears up to drive a powerful series of punches into the Zoanthrope,, hoping she can take it down before Haruko turns the park into the latest recreation of the reactors at Chernobyl.

Or the sushi parlor she liked downtown before it was closed down for repairs.  Both of them had looked exactly alike after Haruko had finished.

"Alright, I've had enough of you!"  Around Juliet, hundreds of shiny, metal objects begin to appear, before hurling towards the monster at maximum speed.  [Juliet uses End Them Rightly to barrage the Zoanthrope with pommels!].  "It's time to end this battle rightly!  Man, I hate fighting these things.  They can't even banter."

This is it! Everyone strike, let's finish this now! May the Blade Wind Tear You Apart!

And so, many blades are fired at the Zoanthrope, some crude stone, some metal, some obsidian, and there's even one that looks like a buzzsaw, a veritable wall of pointy, slashy and stabby.

The garbled mess of data and thought closes, the connection severed. Taro doesn't say anything, but he does run at the Zoanthrope once again, swinging his fists at it as best as he can. For some reason.

Hecate closes her eyes and steels herself, before beginning to glow an indigo light - and then splits from one to four. The copies hover in the air beside her for a brief moment before Hecate points at the injured Zoanthrope, and the copies fly towards it, exploding in balls of blue energy when they make contact.

Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: ~Astalos Battle Theme~]

Now that Agatha has the Zoanthrope trapped under giant maws of earth, you guys attempt to rush it very quickly, going all out to attack the chink in its armor your combined attacks just opened up.

[Now Playing: Yui Manual Theme Override ~God Mode~]

Yui takes the opportunity to strike a chord, playing powerful music that pumps you all up, sending energy coursing through your veins. It makes you feel quite a bit stronger, of course.

Sato is the first to get there, blinking into there as if he teleported, his blade gleaming through the air and slashing at the Zoanthrope's flesh as quickly as he can. He draws blood, quite a fair bit of it; he even hits a few vital parts, judging from the increasingly pained wails of the Zoanthrope. It tries to hipcheck him, but Sato knows better this time and sidesteps the hipcheck by pushing off with a final slash, just in time for him to avoid being rammed....

....as Maki slams into it with a roar, enshrouded with lightning, faster than the eye can see as she slams into the Zoanthrope's wounded side once, twice, thrice and caps it off with a final, ferocious kick, flipping off of it, the smell of fried flesh filling the air as Maki scarcely avoids the hail of pommels Juliet throws at it and the hail of blades that slam into its side, staggering the creature and opening up its side. She lands nearby, her armor sparking with electricity, groaning; the stress of ramming into it repeatedly like a lemming, even through her armor, can't be too healthy. Amelie soars over her, planting her foot directly onto the wounds, eliciting another pained roar before pouncing back and letting her magic do its work, healing Haruko as she flies back out of range.

Haruko and Suzu come next, a bombardment of magic and plasma slamming into the wounds Maki, Sato and the others opened up, searing it and opening it up to more and more wounds. The park's smelling uncomfortably of burnt flesh and burning wood as all the plasma that doesn't hit the Zoanthrope instead splatters all over the now burning remnants of the stage it destroyed.

Viv and Taro are the last to get there, Taro's attack not really doing much of anything except getting his fist dirty. Viv fares better, doing an exaggerated pirouette that a world-class ballet champion would be proud of and lunging forwards with all the grace of a cartoonish swan to stab a poker into its practically ravaged flank.

"Quite a bit stronger", however, is different from "overwhelmingly stronger".

This isn't some typical Zoanthrope that would fall to a concerted effort by magical girls. Indeed, you guys figure that any other Zoanthrope would have fallen to such teamwork by now.

This is a giant, cornered animal. And a cornered rat fights harder than one that has a way of escaping.

[Now Playing: Enhanced Zoanthrope Override ~Taurus Demon~]

And you realise this too late.

The Zoanthrope thrashes around with unparalleled strength, smashing and striking at everything it can, throwing all of you around easily; having gotten so close to it, only Sato manages to get away from it with ease, the rest of you being smashed around like toys in a tantrum-throwing three-year old's playroom. Maki bears the brunt of this one, being slammed into a nearby tree, the wind knocked out of her, though her barrier manages to take most of the damage. Taro, however, is not so lucky and gets even more smashed around, thrown into the side of a brick building with a lot less to protect him than Maki's armor, though he manages to survive well enough. The maws keeping it place begin to crack and groan, beginning to break under the stress of keeping a massive, possibly cybernetically-enhanced whale down for very long.

With a baleful cry, it turns towards Yui, a burst of red energy readying in its mouth, before blasting it at the person who started off the beating. Yui is knocked off her feet, as the beam seems to drag her close enough to be hit.

Which is unfortunate for her, because the Zoanthrope picks this particular moment to rampage again. The maws holding it back shatter, the stresses overtaking it, and it smashes a foot onto Yui to protect itself, associating her song with the subsequent mortal wounds it just took, thrashing about and crushing everyone still in range of the beast.

Most of you have seen better days. Yui and Maki are right in range of the very angry heavily-wounded giant whale, and they're not looking too good, what with both of them being winded from being thrown around like a giant chew toy. Juliet, Taro and Viv are looking roughed up. Of the people who got close enough, Amelie and Sato- good for them- escaped punishment. And all of you out of range are basically fine. On the plus side, all that thrashing seems to have tired the Zoanthrope out.

The boy struggles to get up, wounds making him flicker in and out of vision, pinpricks of black, white, and rainbow static appearing and disappearing around him, like a personalized haze. He inclines his head slightly towards the Zoanthrope, smacking the side of his head a few times.

I'm... trying to... calm it down, he says, voice sounding, while not garbled, a little slurred and winded. ... Please kill it.

Cast ra-mu-ne on the Zoanthrope, consuming a 3 from the World Line.

Don't really do anything else other than stand up and transmit words at people

"Aw, fine!" Haruko had already been gathering energy to herself, rings of plasma orbiting her. These rings quickly fed themselves into a roughly conical blob, seemingly in some form of loose imitation of Maki's own drill attacks - though if the mass of energy was actually spinning, it was difficult to tell. With a shout, Haruko seemingly punched the thing toward the Zoanthrope - except energy continued to blast forth from her, so instead of a discrete projectile forming it was more of a fancy beam. That is, until she chose to dive straight toward it, pushing out a similarly conical shell of plasma as it continued to surge forth before her. And to the side of her. And behind her, albeit at an angle.

There weren't many options Yamato had available at that moment. Only one thing to do, really; keep stabbing it. The sword certainly approved of that plan of action, and Yamato was only too happy to oblige.

He rushes back towards the whale from the side and, seeing the cracked and damaged plating on its underbelly, he tries to stab it with all the force he can muster without actually going underneath it. That seemed like it would end badly. He keeps stabbing and slashing, though at the same time anticipating its counter attack, he gets ready to dodge and strike back. He also watches for any sign of it trying to use one of those energy attacks again. Those were starting to be a problem.

Use an Alteration to 6, burn the rightmost 5 for Prediction Cut, burn a Will point and the second leftmost 5 if it uses an energy attack again to use All Things Can be Cut.
