Yamato flies backwards from the hit, but manages to just barely land on his feet, stumbling around as he does so. He eventually plants his sword into the ground to steady himself, taking several deep breaths as he does so.
"And there goes half my haori already... Big, fast, resistant to cutting and very strong, my favourite kind of enemy."
He pauses for a moment to take another deep breath, but otherwise doesn't move.
"Well, for now there isn't a lot I can do to it. Best just sit back and see if I can glean anything useful."
He lifts up his sword in a ready position, but otherwise doesn't move, instead trying to catch his breath and observe the Zoanthrope.

Juliet spares some time for a 'what the heck' because seriously what the heck, and decides to relocate and attack the Zoanthrope from another angle.  Basically just throw more heavy crap at it, but move to flank it first.

Taro doesn't seem to be deterred by his damage, walking towards the beast menacingly as he places both hands onto his television head, twiddling the nobs with something akin to ferociousness.

Walk at the Zoanthrope again

Use eye of truth this time, consuming a 6 from the World Line

"Haruko, focus! We need to take this thing down or else it'll get away!"
Maki pulls herself to her feet, dusting herself off and grunting. Her barriers didn't quite get rid of the impact, but they were lifesavers anyway.

At the very least, her attack had opened up a weak spot. Perfect.
"Alright! How about an encore? Everyone, hit it on the right side! It's open there!"
Another Electro-Drill Dive, this time against the weakened hide!

Hecate slowly floats along with the creature, keeping 'pace' (as it were) and examining the creature's injured back. She quietly mutters to herself: "Tough, but getting weaker. Must have vulnerabilities... Perhaps the underside?"

The women nods once and gestures outward towards the creature. Underneath, the shadows coalesce and band together, and Hecate uses them to stab the creature in its belly.

Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Astalos Battle Theme]

Not very much happens after your initial charge.

Maki's fist is the first thing to land on the Zoanthrope, hitting it right in the sensitive spot she opened up. The Zoanthrope screeches really loudly and almost keens over, as you might expect when the equivalent of an armored car coursing with enough electricity to kill an elephant rams itself into the equivalent of a massive graze on your side, only the car is the size of a teenage girl and the elephant is big enough to crush an actual elephant by falling over on it.

The spot Maki manages to hit, for the most part, cracks open a little more, bits of the external hide flaking off like terrible plastic kibble from those old transforming toys, revealing greyish bits of flesh beneath. It tries to hit her right back with a body check, but between Yui's sudden save with her defensive song protecting everyone and Maki's barriers, Maki barely even feels being hit....

.....only to get barely escape being grazed by Haruko's misfires, as the crow girl continues spurting hot plasma around with reckless abandon. That tends to happen when you spit plasma around like a broken fire hydrant. She manages to hurt herself a little for her trouble, and does absolutely nothing to the Zoanthrope except piss it off a little more as the burning projectiles practically slide off whatever material the hide is made of, though it's a lot worse for wear and clearly heat-damaged, so go figure. Whatever it is, you're going to need concentrated bombardment to start opening it up.

Suzu, deciding that bombarding it from above is better left to Haruko, decides to pull off an impromptu pincer movement and stab the Zoanthrope from below, shadows impaling it from below. That does have an effect, as the shadows manage to crack the hide in one hit from below, unlike Maki's sustained attack to the side or the back. The Zoanthrope rears up- as you might do when stabbed in the stomach- and swings over to change positions, the ground shaking and the (burning) tree trembling with each step.

Of course, Suzu and Haruko making the thing panic makes Viv's job harder to do. The cartoon girl struggles to stay on and stab the thing in the weak area, redrawing her arm and landing the blow just in time to avoid being splattered by plasma. Just like Maki's blow, the spot that Viv hits starts cracking harder, bits of damaged hide flying off to reveal bits of grey flesh beneath.

This seems to be the final straw for the Zoanthrope.

With a mighty, ear-piercing screech, the Zoanthrope stomps down on the ground hard enough to crack the pavement beneath it, before a sphere of rapidly-expanding red energy throws Maki, Viv and anyone else within range of the thing back off of it, Viv landing next to Maki, who manages to evade her just in time. With a wounded keening roar, the Zoanthrope stands firm as the energy sphere stops in mid-air, lingering there like a translucent, tangible barrier, Haruko's projectiles seeming to just bounce off it like so many rubber toy balls.

Taro sits and concentrates for a moment, his mind's eye focusing on the weaknesses, but the chaos of the battle seems to be getting to him before-
Spoiler: What Taro Sees (click to show/hide)
For his troubles, Taro gets staggered with a crippling headache. Turns out, processing so much information at once tends to give you sensory overload, which apparently feels like the world's worst hangover.

Everyone else fumbles around like a bunch of idiots except Sato and Amelie, who manage to stand their ground. Amelie does her healing thing, as Sato recovers from being winded by the beast. Juliet gets into position and almost trips herself into a pair of bricks, and Agatha definitely clocks Haruko on the back of the head with a rock, not that it does much else except lightly irritate her.

Also, the Zoanthrope is now glaring at Maki and Viv. Judging by the way that it seems to be pawing the ground, it's probably going to charge at you. And it's going to hurt. A lot.

The barrier doesn't seem to bother Haruko. Nor does the rock - or, if it did, she was more distracted by something else. She holds one hand over her head, and, several feet in the air above it, a small orb of plasma forms. An orb that doesn't stay that size for long, as it begins to rapidly grow in size. After getting it as large as she could manage in a few seconds, Haruko brought her hand down, and with it the miniature sun went, flying into the path of the Zoanthrope.

Amelie barely reacted to being hurt - nope, gotta focus now! She dashed towards Maki and Viv. "Hey hey, need a ride~?" she said, as she landed next to Viv, tapped her on the shoulder, and shot off again (after Viv does whatever it is she would do). If Maki doesn't run herself she does it to her too. As she jumps back into the air, gravity suddenly flips on the one(s) she'd touched, and they're dragged along with her as she rushes to escape the charge.

Ally Shift using rightmost 3.

"Eh? Sorry sorry!... Still, enough with fooling around me! I'll show just what happens when you're stuck in between a rock and a hard place! HAAA!!"

And so, with a massive exertion of effort and pain, Agatha slams her staff onto the ground, and the ground beneath the Zoanthrope splits open and erupts with the Maws of the Earth... After which she slumps down in both exhaustion and from the backlash of using such a powerful technique without its proper sacrificial reagent..

Consume the first, leftmost 6 for Maws of the Earth, as such using the 5 next to it for the roll

Oof. A tough ride, this one. Viv was still reeling a little, as she rolls her shoulders back. Things were about to get much much worse for her, and she knew that.

Not really having any other plans, she simply braces for impact.

Get the hell out of the way. Pretty simple thing; Maki wasn't stupid enough to think she could charge the giant armored whale head-on and win.

Taro's sudden self-inflicted headache sends him kneeling to the floor, TV-head bent over, his hands grasping its sides as if in pain. Everyone hears Taro's thoughts once again, though this time they feel more pointed, as if he was sending them directly - and, incidentally, a lot more garbled-sounding, like hearing an old computer or gaming console struggling to function. å¼å¥³„ãGive m§ãe a mom—いでent...言è‘

He suddenly stares at Maki dodging out of the way of the charging monster, holding his arm out at her as if trying to send her a message. Which he is doing, incidentally, gathering data on the Zoanthrope's momentum and transmitting it to her.

Recover from the headache. Alteration: 5 instead of 4

unsaved info on Maki's dodge, consuming a 4 from the World Line

"And the whale decides to show off some of its blubber. Hmm..."
His brows furrowing, Yamato decides he's stood around long enough, and starts to run, not towards the whale, but around it, staying at a reasonably long distance even as he tries to circle behind it.

The sword is annoyed.

Juliet decides to try to intercept the charge.  She uses Incapacitating Conjuration (6) to fill the space between the zoanthrope and its intended victims with LEGOS, jacks, and other spiky things along with several gallons of vegetable oil.  However, this leaves her out in the open, easy pickings if the Zoanthrope gets through her minefield fast enough.

"Let's move it people! Yeah, yeah, yeah!"
Presto Festique quickly recovers her footing, and readjusts her grip. She lets out another heavy chord again, once again sending out those dark crimson notes at her allies.

Pesante!
