"knowledge is my hunger, wisdom is my thirst. Just learning new things could make me burst! Friend concerns me. How fares he?  and what of Paimni?"
Make sure my friends and acquaintances are okay. Their wellbeing is more important than knowledge or essence- Ooh, maybe I could retain a humanoid form better with these bandages.

I figure at some point, you're just gonna run outta fucks to give and just off yourself whenever you get hurt at all. It's not like there's any downsides to it. Hangover? Suicide will fix that. Stubbed your toe? Suicide. Headache? Suicide. Papercut? Suicide.

Update 67

The Horned Hound - (Prophet)
Blood, blood, BLOOD! Face the rival, crush the rival, defeat the rival! The Horned Hounds let's out a rugged roar, a mix between the furious cry of a bull and the hungering howl of a wolf, the intent of submit, flee, or die being conveyed in the only way it's rage addled mind can process. Then readies itself to wrathfully charge into the weakened snow wolves once again.

Horned Hound: Intimidating Roar
Easy 8: [19]
Outcome: [5] -Overshoot-

All your boiling rage exploded in a bone-chilling roar, giving you an overwhelming presence. The wolves froze for a moment, and realizing there would be no escape they braced themselves to fight to the last.

Following your roar, you charged headlong into the fray, crashing with great brutality into the less wounded wolf and fatally impaling it on your deadly horn. Then with a vengeful growl, the two bloody wolves leapt from both sides in a desperate attempt to end you for good. What ensued was a violent and chaotic melee in the snow tainted with blood, a storm of fur and claws and fangs.

Your vision was getting blurry from blood. Yours and that of the wolves, dripping from your horns into your eyes. You felt a beat, a powerful one ringing deep inside of you. Stronger than your heart, which was pumping with urgency as your vitality was rapidly decreasing. In that moment, you felt that you could change, become stronger and turn the tables!

The Horned Hound can transform!

Squacks the Rending Gull - (Devastator)
<Squack>Break off.  I got these losers.

That's a lot of them who left themselves open.

Melee Tornado time!  Counterattack all of them who have left themselves open.  Unlike usual, get the essence if any die.

Without so much as a nod, Skra darted away to safety while you would deal with the remaining enemies. They were coming at you en masse, but that was precisely what you wanted. You discarded the crumbling body you used as a makeshift shield, absorbing its Essence.

You dashed ahead to meet the incoming swarm of insects and retaliated faster than they could react. In a series of flashing attacks you picked apart the lesser Elemanoptera one by one, leaving behind you a gruesome trail of hemolymph and clipped limbs. On the way you also absorbed the Essence of three of those you managed to slay on the spot.

+15 Lesser Essence

Their morale barely fazed by your incredible counterattack, the remaining insects ganged up on you in coordinated fashion under the command of the remaining leader.

Shocking Effect: [4] -Success-
Frost Effect: [5] -Critical Success-

With attackers coming from all sides at once it would have looked grim if you weren't an expert in the art of aerial combat. With your uncanny speed and manoeuverability, you fended off and dodged most of the attacks. A few did manage to overwhelm your defences, however, and you felt both a painful jolt of electrical energy followed by the sharp pain of frostbite spreading in one of your wings.

Afflictions:
Light Shock (-1)
Frost (-2) [Frost is taking precedence]

You assessed the situation quickly. Out of the 11 initial enemies, 6 remained. A leader with its vitality intact, and the near death Scouts and Hunters which had rallied under its command.

Skee, the Insect Parasite (Legendary Marksdorf)
Enraptured by the heat of the battle, Skee and Shnapa had completely forgotten the sneak part of their sneak operation. The newly arrived soldiers outnumbered them, and it was time to retreat with his pack, using the cover of the jungle to their advantage to lose the Archnastinian soldiers. At least they had taken out the black archer, which should relieve pressure on the ground troops. Getting the attention of a large number of soldiers on them might also not be the worst, because it would further help the other Makralians. Speaking of which, observe how the situation has evolved while running away. Can you see where the great leaders are?

Skee also made it a point to check up on his host and partner. "Hey Shnapa. That was a tough opponent there, but we were much stronger ! Feeling good ?"

Tactical Retreat
Easy 8: [4]
Outcome: [1] -Critical Failure-

Their job here done, Shnapa called the pack back. Altogether you retreated under cover of the jungle, while you took a moment to analyze the situation of the battlefield.

- Thanks to your intervention, Knakarsh the Mighty had managed to turn the battle in his favor, defeated the Arachnastinian Champion he was facing. His victory had enhanced the morale of the surrounding Makralians, who had gone into a battle frenzy that was overwhelming the Arachnastinian ranks. It seemed this battle line would soon collapse.

- On another side of the fron, Krauraka the Hungry, the Horde Leader, was still locked in battle with the two same behemoth of Arachnastinians. It seemed they were trying to stall him while the heavy cavalry was inflicting heavy damage to the side and rear - they were flanking the Makralians, and if left alone would strike from the rear.

As you finished analyzing all of this, Shnapa suddenly ordered the pack to stop.
"Enemies!"

He had detected enemies ahead of you. Despite your quick thinking, the spider people had managed to catch up to you and set up an ambush of sort thanks to their home advantage. You could try to avoid confrontation again, although it would be more difficult than before.

You couldn't see your enemies, but you could feel their presences. They were few, but something about them left you uneasy. They were near perfectly hidden, and with the way they moved you suspected them to be special troops akin to battlefield assassins.

Battlefield Situation:
The Makralians are winning slightly.
Knakarsh the Mighty and his inspired forces are breaking the enemy lines.
Krauraka the Hungry is fighting two enemy champions.
Arachnastinian Heavy Cavalry is flanking the Makralians.

The whereabouts of the other Greater Leaders are unknown.
Klikshi the Gale seemed engaged in battle.

You have been afflicted with Terror (-2)

Your entire surroundings suddenly became dark, and the demon disappeared. Amidst the darkness, there was only one thing: a white face with empty eyes and gaping mouth. It wailed. The visage then contorted, breaking down into an incomprehensible visage too terrible to behold. You wanted to look away, but couldn't. Your eyes started bleeding. Whatever it was, it was slowly infesting your head, eroding your sanity.

When you snapped back not even an instant had passed, and your vision was completely blurred with your own blood. The illusion was gone, but the pain and fear that remained were very real.

Eximius Res, the Rusty Ring (Hawk132)
"Whatever it is that's draining magic is worrying, but it's the unlife energy nexus that contributes to rendering Satroya so unlivable. If we destroy it first, perhaps the others could finally breathe more freely..."

"Any clue for the purpose of the magic drain? Is it simply draining it away, or possibly using it somehow or powering something?"

Eximius would like more information, if possible. If not, prioritize the nexus.

Malmey the Mage thought about your question for a few seconds. To save his breath, he whispered a reply.
"My educated guess is that it is powering something. Magic flow convergence nearly always lead to something diverting the flow to use it. If it was a situation of negative magic, the magic flow would instead be repelled outward."

That was all the information he could share, and even that was merely a hypothesis. Unsurprisingly, one would need to investigate the source to further determine the purpose of the magic drain.

Ulkas, the Horned Demon (Sarrak)
”Heh. Let’s destroy it, it offends my sensibilities. Both at trying to hunt us and to try emulating my method of Essence farming.”

Ulkas tapped a claw on chin and made a wide knowing smirk.

”Plus, I bet you’d be eager to test yourself after the new transformation, my Queen~”

We have gathered enough Essence, for now. Let Astrosa transform and we’ll see how we can fight an opponent of our caliber, for once.

As you vanquished one of the last enemies required for Astrosa to advance to the next stage, she held her hand out for the Essence almost ceremoniously. She could barely contain her urge, and was smirking as she admired the Essence that would soon become part of her.

"To think that with only that, I will be getting one step closer to our dreams of conquest. Hehehe... I am ecstatic."

She crushed the Essence with her right hand, absorbing it. As soon as she did that, you felt the fog shudder and recoil from her, and your heart suddenly leapt in admiration as you sensed the subtle change that occured. There was no fanfare, no grand display of might or arrogance (yet). The gown that flowed around Astrosa changed subtly, weaving itself into a more elaborate dress that looked as if it had been crafted by a master seamstress. Her posture changed lightly, and she now had a noble aura that nearly made you think you belonged to worlds apart. She even seemed even more captivating, beautiful than before.

She held out her hand once more, and the Arma that had melded into her Gown gathered over it. Black and blood metal flowing and slittering, whispering unheard words to its wielder. And at last the Arma took shape, forging itself into a great sword-spear of intricate design taller than Astrosa. She smiled.

"The House of Crimson Disaster? A lovely choice. I like it."

As if the gigantic spear had been as light as a branch, Astrosa swung it around and finally planted the spear's heel firmly into the ground. Her smirk had disappeared, leaving only a confident gaze that yet seemed to be pondering new truths she had realized.

"I have much to tell you later, Ulkas. But first we will have to take care of our foe."

You felt the fog changing. It moved aggressively, as if answering to a challenge. You could sense that its origin would come, soon.

New Astrosa sheet. I might have to adjust a few things, but for now that will do :)
Same for her Arma, which is in the process of fully awakening. I need to have a look at numbers across everything to make a balance sweep, again heh.

Quote
-Arma: War Regalia of the House of Crimson Disaster [Awakening: +5 AL]: a living weapon of the ancient world, an Arma. Made to bond with its wielder, it is said wielder and weapon are fated to meet. Enhance and complement the innate abilities of their wielder by adapating to them.
The Arma has taken the shape of a great ruby sword-spear whose mere appearance strike fear in the heart of Astrosa's ennemies. It has the following attributes:
--> Life Drinker: the Arma drinks the life of those it wounds, storing it for later use. This life can be used to heal its Wielder. The stored life dissipates rapidly out of combat.
--> Dominate the Weak: the Arma breaks the fighting spirit of those it wounds. Count as an INT2 mental attack.
--> Unleash Energy: the Arma unleashes the accumulated energy into a powerful wave of energy, inflicting a STR attack with +1 AR for every 5 absorbed health points.

Azarian, the Imbued Thoughtling (Dustan Hache)
"knowledge is my hunger, wisdom is my thirst. Just learning new things could make me burst! Friend concerns me. How fares he?  and what of Paimni?"
Make sure my friends and acquaintances are okay. Their wellbeing is more important than knowledge or essence- Ooh, maybe I could retain a humanoid form better with these bandages.

"Your goblin friend is well. We had an easier time patching him up than you, that's for sure haha! He didn't have any life threatening injury, so with how resilient his kind is I'm sure he will be in top shape when he wakes up."

Breios then took a seat to tell you about Paimni's whereabouts.
"She is doing well, but she will probably be out of commission for a few days more. I never did tell you what happened to us right? Or what we were doing in the woods for that matter."

He explained to you in details the events that led to your fateful encounter. They were part of the Cerulean Watch, a human organization that was mainly charged with patrolling the roads for monster activity and maintaining general order. Their team had been ambushed by a monster while camping at a rest stop on the roads, and Paimni had been dragged into the forest. They had managed to rescue her, but she had been gravely wounded. They met you soon after, luckily.
"The roads have become increasingly more dangerous as of late. A few teams have disappeared, and the Watch is stretched thin these days. Monster activity is still under control, but sometimes an abnormal monster appears and wrecks havoc. Say Azarian, as a monster yourself, do you have any insight on what could be happening with monsters these days?"

He scratched the back of his head upon realizing the absurdity of the situation.
"I have eliminated my fair share of monsters due to my job, and I never thought I would have a civilized conversation with one any day soon, haha. I did come across a few of the mind control type, mind you!"

Bandage Fashion:
Hard 12: [4]
Outcome: [5] -Partial Success-

While he explained all of this, you tried to use the spare bandages along with the one on your body to fashion yourself a more humanoid shape. Puzzled as he was, Breios preferred not interrupting you and continued talking. At the end of it, you had managed to shape yourself into a crude humanoid shape with flabs of mass protruding at various places. To a human eye, you looked like a grotesque bandaged humanoid abomination that had been sealed for its crimes against fashion. The huge eye surrounded by eyestalks was just the cherry on top of it all.

A strange situation to be in. The sharper battle instincts of Skee's host seemed to have picked up an enemy presence he himself wasn't aware of. However, apart from the vague feeling of threat hanging in the air, there was no telling just where and what was ambushing them. As an attempt to solve the problem, Skee tried to use [Telepathy] to pick up on the thoughts of his enemies, and therefore localize, and count them. Although he had no experience in using telepathy for this sort of thing, it was an idea worth trying. If they outnumbered his pack, he would try to find another round to retreat, once again, counting on the superior arboreal experience of the Makralians. If that was not the case however, it would probably be best to try and confront the ambushers, opening with a [Mind Crusher] against the enemy closest to him. This was war after all, and any dead enemy soldier would contribute to his side's victory. As usual, he would let Shnapa handle the fighting, and focus on analyzing the situation.

Ouch!  That hurt.  But there's not nearly as many of them left anymore, and if three more go down..

Second verse, same as the first.  Four are open, so hit four of them.  I'm wounded, but so are they..

”I cannot say for sure at all. It is like this too, beyond the wall. A hunger for essence, a drive for power, yet I know not the cause at this hour. my birth was tumultuous, one drop amongst many. Essence is the key, but your guess is good as any.”
Azarian responded to the question, doing his best to convey his very limited insight while he worked on adjusting the bandages some more, tucking the huge eye and trying to vaguely mimic the positioning of eyes to match that of a normal “face”.
”you say you fought mind control? my curiosity strays. What was their goal? how fared in the fray?”
So there were other creatures with abilities like his own! he must know more of their motives and methods!

I figure at some point, you're just gonna run outta fucks to give and just off yourself whenever you get hurt at all. It's not like there's any downsides to it. Hangover? Suicide will fix that. Stubbed your toe? Suicide. Headache? Suicide. Papercut? Suicide.
