Seltsame Insel: Into the Grinder.

SELTSAME INSEL


Somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is a large island that doesn't officially exist. It has very powerful magic qualities that make it a strategic resource. Because of the magic tearing at the very fabric of reality, the island only exists part time in our reality. Every two weeks or so it returns to a pocket dimension for a couple days and then returns.

In the Mid 1920s Germany found and settled this new land. In the 1930s Hitler began to pour troops into it, build defenses, and eventually moved there himself. Now it is 1944 and the Americans are about to take a swing at the Island to purge the Nazi threat. Will they succeed or will the Nazis win the day and the island? Only you can decide.

You have 5000 credits to work with for ammo, or extraneous equipment. Getting artifacts back will give you more on your next mission, having leftover credits adds to your next mission. Going over budget will deduct credits from your next mission's budget.

Reduce the -3 to a -1, refund those credits from the 1911, and you're good to go.

And yes. Until later today, probably around 1600 or 1700 until about 2000. I have all of tomorrow's liberty to work on doing this in a rapid fire mode. So for now, standby with your actions.

((For now, we're gonna roll with just you. I'll try to update whenever I can. But, my work schedule is fucking crazy. If I'm still here Tuesday, I'll start cleaning my barracks and standing watch for four to eighteen hours, so I may not have too much time then. If I get my orders, then I'll have Tuesday evening to work on this, but afterwards, it'll be weekend updates until I get my study schedule right. So, don't get frustrated with me if I cannot reliably update. My apologies for any future delays. Enjoy!))

   The guns on the cliffs of Kilo Beach are silent, the battle won by the brave hearts and valiant actions of the men from the American landing parties. The blood shed here on the beach is but the beginning of what will surely be a long and drawn out fight over the mysterious island. The remainder of the main invasion force will soon begin to make their trek into the middle of the island.

   "Grey! Your squad move out and clear the village at Bravo Zero-Two-Six, Tango Eight-Four-Niner!" The Brigadier General looks on as preparations to assault the first major city gets underway. There are several dozen small armed vehicles, planes flying overhead, and dozens of ships and boats. Supplies are being brought ashore to replenish the losses of ammo, food, medical supplies, and random equipment lost in the conflict for the beach.

   Private First Class ((Henceforth PFC)) Grey has been tasked with clearing a village about two kilos north-north-west from his present location. "Scouting Party Bravo-42 to Attack Team 4. Reporting limited enemy operations visible, but to be aware that they have at least two flak 88s, several MG42s, and a sandbag wall. Expect light personnel mines and antitank defenses. Possible Panzer activity in the area. Over."

TURN 1




Ahah, so we're doing this kind of as a continuation of the end of the previous game.
Except, I guess that in this timeline, Grey didn't die. Ok.

Advance carefully. If I see any significant groups of hostiles (or if they have any tanks, or artillery), radio in their position.

((Sort of. The first was more of a testbed, I guess.))

   PFC Grey advances with several mean hombres from the other companies and then this random dude with a bunch of knives. Deciding to go first, Grey scouts ahead for artillery targets. Crawling on his stomach over the top of the nearest hill, he pokes his head just over the top.
   [6] He can see the enemy forces and their emplacements, for the most part. He sees exactly what the enemy has in store. All of it. But as he watches he is seen by a sniper.
   [2+1=3 vs 2] The sniper fires one round, barely missing Grey's head. Grey ducks instictively and is brought out of the sniper's sight.

You don't give yourself penalties with the skills, Cody, you either give yourself a buff or your enemies a malus.

TURN 2




Anyway, hunker down and radio in the hostiles' locations.

   PFC Grey pulls the reciever for his radio out and gives the coordinates for the artillery.
   [4] "USS Missouri, Attack Team 4, fire upon marked targets, aye!" The booming of the cannons can be heard in the distance. The rounds whistle overhead as they strike one after the other into the town.

Sniper, eh? Go poke my own head up and figure out where he's shooting from, so I can go over there and stab him.

Poking his head over the top of the hill, all PFC Guy can see are the constantly refreshing clouds of dust and smoke and, of course, the explosions. He hears the sounds of the impacting rounds; thundering, groundshaking explosions rocked the town. The sniper is most likely dead.
