Your forces, led by Logan Coalsplitter, arrayed themselves before the walls of Lincester town. Each squad carried a crude wooden ladder, hastily constructed from the few trees to be found in the area. At his word the seasoned Bannerstock infantry, bearing their now familiar maces, started a slow jog towards the town. Behind them, a mixture of elven and dwarvern reserves kept pace, ready to follow them up the ladders.
Precious little archery fire was received from the walls, and so the ladders were easily placed. The macedwarves, led by Logan, then proceeded to climb. At the top, heavily armoured dwarves stood waiting, also bearing maces. The melee was brutal, and the limited entry available to the attackers quickly made it's mark. The first few ranks of dwarves over the walls were beset on all sides, and struggled to survive whilst their comrades continued to climb.
More dwarves climbed into the carnage, and to the waiting Bannerstock militia, those ladders seemed to lead to nowhere but death. As the first elf stepped foot on the lowest rung, his comrades turned and fled. Seeing their elven allies abandon them, the remaining Bannerstock militia and the few surviving Macedwarves knew the battle was lost.
The defenders encircled the wall-side attackers, cutting them off from their escape. Faced with death or servitude, they named Lincester their new mountain home.
