i think we should focus on fully digesting cydwyl before we try to annex another country

The goal isn't annexation. We will make our own son heir once we have one. It is a symbolic gesture towards Helliste, which has moved away from us during the time skip. I don't think Methiant-Cydwyl has any real friends at the moment, so we should try to make some.

If Aunt Ciri hasn't swayed her husband already, I doubt naming her heir to the empire is likely to change much.

We might have better luck naming a not-in-line prince, give them something to look forward to and avoid trashing up the place? If so perhaps from the Eldrican branch of the family instead (Jacor or Sigurd), to shore up support and blunt their alliance with Rucus from turning our direction.
