If he somehow does manage to beat a martial emperor who has an artifact sword after a bolt has hit him in the leg, he deserves the throne. The thing is, I don't quite think that's how it's going to go, and this is an easy boost to our authority.

The duel doesn't last long. He manages to prick your left hand; you in turn pierce his body through with the sword. Your half-brother collapses to the ground and bleeds out fast.

The body is disposed, the council reconvened at other room as the servants clean the floor from the stains.

1211 AD, Mid-Autumn

You receive foreboding news from the far north-west. It seems that elves, provoked by the dwarves of Mistemom, has launched a campaign against the settlements in the Northern Mountains. Whilst so far only dwarves have been assaulted, Methiantese travelers and settlers are more than sure that elven scouts are watching them travel, and some reports say of strange cloaked figures wandering about night-time shadows, some even inflitrating villages!

A) The elves are surely not going to attack us, leave them be.
B) This provocation means war! Onward, to Tisilenteliya!
C) Send a (heavily guarded) diplomat to the Elves.
D) Ask the dwarves for a council about this situation.

C - We're on fairly neutral terms with both the dwarves and elves. Knowing Elves, D would be treated the same way as B, but we also can't so nothing. Let's at least find out if they have beef with us.

We're on fairly neutral terms with both the dwarves and elves.

I'd say we're on fairly good terms with the dwarves, or at least they are on good terms with us: the dwarves have at times actively sought us for diplomacy and deals while we have sought them for artifacts. Whereas our last interaction with the Elves was when we looted their ancient tomb and earned our emperor a horrific death. (Probably – I don't think it was written into canon that it was Elves, though it bore all their hallmarks. The last time we are certain of Elvish work is their reprisal after yielding Zasitost back to the dwarves.)

Regardless we haven't gotten opportunities to talk with the Elves often and we should take them when they pop up, now that more and more lands are being settled northward.
