If we once more use Alexander as an example, he kept giving control of the land he conquered back to the people he conquered it from, which was an absolutely terrible idea that ended up massively contributing to his empire tearing itself apart when he died. Alexander wasn't all that good when it came to actually governing the places he conquered.

And oh god I gave the GM an idea.

You throw a big party inside the Parsian palace, where Parsian ladies and pretty servant boys dance away to the night amongst scorched walls and dried bloodstains. Your soldiers make sure that everyone is safe and secure from potential angry inhabitants of the city, who were mostly in hands of Simian slavemasters or executions anyway. Simians decided not to partake in the party, instead they're busying themselves counting up the cattle and wealth they've acquired for their Emperor.

As the night progresses, wine flows freely, and your eyes wander around the masses in the audience room.

A) Sample the local variety of food and drink.
B) Sample the local variety of something else.

Okay, let's see... well, we have the lucky trait, and we have the healthy trait. We can most likely survive drinking, especially since I don't think the injury we got could cause us to die from it or eating, and I don't want to ruin our first chance at keeping our promise. A it is.
