You give it a small bite of dried meat.
It snatches it into its jaws and then scurries up the rocks and stones, towards the very peak of the mountains. You wait for a while but it doesn't come down, content in perching on a boulder outside your reach.
You leave for home.
Congratulations! King Yoe has finished up an Epic Quest!
Within a week you're back at your palace, and just hours after you get a bath and a decent meal, the Wizard comes back. You wish to regale him with tales of your many exploits, but he cuts you off.
"I know that you have succeeded in the task that I have given you. Look for a red swan and the fire of the grassland. Those will be signs that Queen of Vanity is no more harassing your land." The enigmatic, robed old man leaves your palace without further ado.
1082 AD, Mid-Spring
Strange reports are coming from the very southeast of Methiant! Soon after the scholars sighted the Red Swan, a comet, pass on the night sky, someone set fire to one of the grasslands near the village of Ynoen. The peasants, after securing the fire and then making sure it won't consume their farms, have discovered a charred, roasted body of a giant spider amongst the ashes!
Tis must be Queen of Vanity's final fate. All across the Kingdom celebrate the sudden death of the foul, wicked monstrosity!
1082 AD, Summer
News come from the north; Princess Dogethe have succeeded her father as ruler of Cydwyl, and has begun extensive military campaign against the Ionith. Reports claim that she has many Alldivine monks, Donuth mercenaries and, apparently, a Helliste 'warlock' at her side, whomever a warlock is supposed to be (apparently all he does is tell fortune from innards of dead animals and brew medicinal tonics for Dogethe's soldiers).
1082 AD, Autumn
Your wife has given birth to a boy! This time the child is fine and healthy, the medics say, and Auga bestows the name of 'Ean' upon the child.
Few days later you receive a secret letter from Kings of Dahnia. They wish to interest you in a surprise attack against the rear of Cydwyl Kingdom. They promise personal union with Dahnian royal family, heap of wealth and an enchanted ruby, Eye of Gods, if you can take down Dogethe's domain.
A) Naw, let's not get ourselves in a mess against Cydwyls again..
B) Sure, that is a good enough price to involve our soldiers. Blow the war horn!
C) They're doubly stupid - not only we won't lift a finger, we will forward the letter to Queen Dogethe!
