Mayhaps we should send for dwarves, my liege? They're not keen on providing mercenary forces these days, but given our vast amount of money, we could persuade them? Otherwise, we might send a cautious inquiry to the brutish, secretive Tiftit Hurthlings, as their slingers and knifemen are known for their ferocity in combat."

A) "Get in touch with the dwarves, please."
B) "Why not both? Send an envoy to both Zasitost dwarves and Tiftit hurthlings."

Fair point. I think I'd be okay approaching the halflings, but for this very reason I think the dwarfs are a bad idea. Dwarfs have always seemed like greedy sons of bitches, and now that they are into kingdom building I think it's a very bad idea to show them our hand. They might think if we're weak and rich enough to want to buy them as mercenaries, that we'd be weak and rich enough to invade.
