(Wow.

I'm conflicted on whether Casset is a bitch, or a badass.)

Meditate, then absorb the inner flame of the second convict. As they think rationally and without emotion, attempt to bargain with them; accompany you to the family farm, defending you if necessary, and you'll attempt to arrange their freedom. After all, their new status as Flameless will make it far easier to convince the government that they're rehabilitated, as they no longer have any drive to commit crimes.

If all goes well, take the two convicts with you to the farm, estimating the amount of soldiers there as you prepare to take back your family's wealth!

-1. These convicts are valuable, and we were specifically told not to free them.

See if we can rekindle the soul-flame of the Flameless convict. If that is successful, try to do the same thing with a corpse (of an animal, if we can't find a dwarven corpse).

And as for the noble...

See if we can find a way to sic the dwarven legal system on him. The possibility of being labelled a criminal/pirate/warlord by a dwarven empire might cause him to back off (from our farm, at least).

If we can't, meet with the resistance that's inside of the city. They'll probably be able to help us more than two almost-ordinary, dubiously-loyal convicts ever could.

Also, I seriously doubt that we can take on an entire army with only three guys on our side (the convicts and ourself) if our only combat spells cost over a quarter of our mana and just give us the equivalent of a flame-dagger and the ability to see creatures through walls. Flame manipulation might enable us to burn enemies with their own torches, but that's iffy and probably expensive.

Well he said he will repay us in due time, I expect that if we help him out in one way or another we might forge a deeper relationship with him.

Look, the only thing that really matters is killing the army's leader and keeping it discrete. From there, the army will fall apart, and without knowing the killer's identity, they'll begin accusing one another.

For the convicts, I said we could bargain for their freedom with the government after making that deal. The prison said there would be consequences if we freed them, but freeing them legally by convincing the government that they no longer pose a threat without emotions is a loophole around what the prison told us.

Does that flameless still show any signs of ambition? If not, here's my idea:

That human noble let it slip that he wants the entire city for himself, so being ambitious it a large part of why he's here. Plus, his troops clearly don't have the best morale.
We could go meet with him again, make as if we are willing to go full traitor while exaggerating the number of troops the city has and the risks involved.
Then, on the way out, cast absorb inner flame on him (though, if I'm reading this right, he gets a chance to resist? Might want to beef up that spell a bit first).
This gets us a plausible reason to get close to him, and if he's not here on direct orders he should leave (since staying here would be illogical in the face of the large force we just lied about), or at least be ineffective.

A target needs to be "unable to resist" (a.k.a. restrained) for us to cast Absorb Inner Flame on them.

Look, the only thing that really matters is killing the army's leader and keeping it discrete. From there, the army will fall apart, and without knowing the killer's identity, they'll begin accusing one another.

So you want to murder someone (and possibly cause an international incident!) just because his army happens to be illegally sitting upon your land instead of reporting them to the authorities? This will, at the very least, cause a scandal if word of it gets out.

Go to the mountains and find boulders. Train there manipulation to get a muscle for the movement of objects with your mind. Our routine should be like this: One Heavy Boulder for as many raises and lowerings as possible, short candle meditation, raising two medium heavy boulders for 3 rows of 10 raises and lowerings, fire meditation, raising many boulders of small size in interesting patterns and for as long as possible.

(1) You start forward with determination and certainty. You carry this determination with you right into the gaping crater that opens under your feet. You fall into a pit. The sounds of combat above dim, along with the light from the suns. In the quiet below, you hear some other noises instead.

After some deliberation, you decide on your course of action - severing the head of this problem. Making the noble a Flameless would hopefully allow you to effectively stop the problem. Sure, it may not have the moral high-ground, but he is trespassing after all. First, you recall your observations of the Flameless convict. If your assumptions are correct, then yes. A Flameless should have no true ambition. Though "ambition" is hard to define in this case. Is it wanting a bed? A house? Power? Where does it end?
Regardless, a Flameless shouldn't be plotting to rise up in power any time soon. Hopefully.

With this in mind, you pack some essential goods before meditating (and regaining 3 mana). In the morning you leave for the Noble's camp. The journey's fairly uneventful. After the trip up the canyon home to the entrance to Silverhall, you begin the second multiple-hour portion of your journey.

Eventually, the tents and soldiers come into sight. You continue walking until reaching the camp boundaries and request a meeting with the noble.
You approach the tent along with a soldier escort, but are stopped before you can enter it. From inside the noble's tent you're able to make out some muffled voices.
"What do you mean, 'they're getting food'?! We're sieging them!"
...
"Okay, rally the troops! We're going to be taking this head-on!"

Suddenly, the human bursts out of his tent with sufficient dramatic flair. As he's about to march into the center of the camp, he stops with a double-take and stares at you.
"Dwarf! Er, Kar-Cazot!  You're here! I don't suppose you'd be willing to join us for our assault on the city? You'd get a significant portion of our spoils and all the glory!"

This throws a minor wrench into your plans. What now?

Cazot Bobokundin

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

-1; he's going to stop using our farm soon anyway.

Agree. Ask him what his battle-plan is and how much damage to the city/the city's civilians is acceptable; we're a pyromancer, so danger to non-combatants and their property is kind of intrinsic to our field of magic.
