TURN 7

Landing Craft 1

Scream in agony. Kill Germans if possible

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" Pvt. McManus screams at the agony of breaking his leg. Luckily it isn’t a compound fracture. [2] The machine guns target his general direction and fire upon him, hitting him in the right leg and a graze in the gut. McManus points his gun up to Nest 1 and fires [2-1=1], missing the germans and giving them a window of opportunity to fire back. [6 vs 6] The nest opens up with the full power of the MG42 trained on one guy. He sits with his broken leg and his bullet wounds and waits valiantly for death. The gunners fire and fire, the bullets missing or pinging off of his helmet as he sees that he is not in fact dying. The firefight ends in a draw, with Pvt. McManus missing his helmet and having a couple of grazes and the gunners needing to reload and change the gun barrel.

Spoiler: Pvt. McManus (click to show/hide)

Landing Craft 2

Reload.

Pvt. Siegfried reloads. [3] The sniper still has him pinned to cover and reasserts this fact through another bullet pinging off of Siegfried’s cover. That one was the last of the clip. Not that it matters anyway, being suppressed by machine guns and all. [4] Speaking of which, they continue to fire, but only hit the sand around Siegfried’s cover.

Spoiler: Pvt. Siegfried (click to show/hide)

Landing Craft 4

Pvt Wonderland: exploit the protection of the sea wall and steady my weapon upon it, but wait to pick my target at first. look to see what individuals are causing the most problems for my allies and steady my aim on my target, preparing to fire and making sure when I do take my shot I won't miss.

Taking a peek over the wall, Pvt. Wonderland can see that there is one guy without a helmet on the other side of the wall. The guns are silent in this part and the only sounds are from the guns in Nest 2 and the cursing of the Nazis in Nest 1. [5] He sees the guys manning the guns in Nest 2 perfectly. Using the elevated ground as his impromptu bipod, Wonderland puts the crosshairs on target. [3] He doesn't quite see the sniper.

Spoiler: Pvt. Wonderland (click to show/hide)

Landing Craft 5

Ammo Dump on Nest 1, then grab the nearest gun while staying in cover

[4+2=6] Pvt. Dukes sees his opportunity to kill something and does it. Scarily so. The Thompson M1919, which Dukes had snuck onto the boat in pieces in his bag, has a fire rate of around 1500 rounds per minute. He dumps his entire 30 round magazine in about a half a second, slaughtering the men in Nest 1. They didn’t stand a chance. Seeing that he’d just killed roughly three people from 1000 yards with a full ammo dump, Dukes begins laughing hysterically, scaring the shit out of his fellow soldiers from LC5. He drops the sub-machinegun, still laughing like a madman. [5] He picks up a Browning 1919 off of a dead guy. It has never once been fired.

Spoiler: Pvt. Dukes (click to show/hide)

1st Airborne Division

Go regroup with my division (using my quick reflexes to not get shot) and capture the sniper.

[4+2=6 Vs 3-1=2] Pvt. Grey sprints to his buddies at the low stone wall, bobbing and weaving as the sniper fires at him. The sniper misses. Cover is taken by the wall as the ship guns point directly at the defilade and ready to fire. Pvt. Grey makes the first move to capture the sniper [5+2=7 Vs 2-1], which succeeds flawlessly. The sniper sees Pvt. Grey approach with his BAR and takes a pot shot, missing and hitting another sniper who has been slaughtering the troops on the beach. The scared Nazi throws his hands up as Pvt. Grey gets within three or four feet. The sniper then pulls a knife and [5+2=7 Vs 1-1=0] slips on some bullet casings and falls on the knife. It stabs him in the chest, right between the ribs protecting his heart. Not knowing any better, he pulls the knife out of his chest, opening the wound, further. The Nazi loses consciousness in seconds.

Spoiler: Pvt. Grey (click to show/hide)

Lt. Lucy

LT: Is Schmidt ze Medic?
In more pertinent news, let's go save the village with the power of sandcastles!

LT: go regroup with the rest of the invasion force back on the beach.

“Nein. I have no medical eqvipment.” [5-2=3] Pvt. Lucy goes to build some new sand castles to save the villagers from becoming homeless, but the inspiration has deserted him. The ones he builds are crappy small ones that he uses his helmet as the mold for. “Whatever. Building sandcastles is stupid anyways.” [1-2=-1] Using the sun as a guide, he determines that the beach is to the direct east. He and Jürgen start walking in that direction.
The earth gives way beneath the feet of our intrepid duo as they find themselves walking through a swamp. There they encounter a halftrack mostly buried in the mud. The gunner on top of it sees the two and freaks out at the Nazi in desert garb escorting an american paratrooper into the swamp or the otherway around, as this relationship is roughly ambiguous.
Suspecting nothing but treachery, the gunner opens fire [1+3=4 Vs 4] Lucy is unharmed, whereas, [1 Vs 5] Cpl Jürgen is instantly killed by the hail of bullets. His last words are “Arschloch.” Then he’s gone.

Cpl Jürgen has left the party.

Spoiler: Lt. Lucy (click to show/hide)

Turn error: Pvt wonderland was not attacking. he was aiming, attempting to gain a bonus for the following turn.

I vote for the SAS.

Also: huh. That was an entertaining capture.

Let us go out to capture more Nazis! Again, using my quick reflexes to not get hit, and with backup from my division-mates.
Erm. Although the one we just captured may need medical attention to make sure he doesn't die before we can interrogate him. One of my squad-mates should get on that.

((Thanks))
lets take out a gunner then. one shot, hopefully one kill, then duck behind the sea wall and stay down. no point letting myself get sniped. I'll be crawling to a new spot along the wall before I try to take another shot.

Sosoku, I just want you to know that this is probably my favorite game here. You get updates out pretty regularly, and I feel like we're accomplishing stuff. Thank you.

That means a whole heckuva lot to me, updates will come faster as you guys post more, but I'm still gonna keep it fluid (Just in case I encounter problems IRL and can't post turn) at two per day maximum. And no, you guys aren't really accomplishing a lot. The plot actually starts once the Nests on the beaches are knocked out and at least two people get to the cliffs. But, nonetheless, thank you guys for playing.

No problem with that schedule. And I know we aren't, not yet, but it feels like it. We're moving around, several things are happening at once. It's not like some of the smaller-scale games where we spend 3-4 updates fighting mooks. :-/

((Evidently, last turn was actually turn 8, so this is turn 9.))

TURN 9

Landing Craft 1

Crawl forward to cover while yelling for a medic

[4-3=1] Attempting to crawl forwards to the safety of the cliffs, Pvt. McManus somehow manages to drag himself back towards the sea wall. Luckily the gunners are dead in Nest 1, so for now, he's safe. In the distance the artillery roars to life again, [3 Vs 1] hitting far enough to scare McManus without killing him, but short enough to hit Nest 1 directly, wiping it off the face of the Earth.

Spoiler: Pvt. McManus (click to show/hide)

Landing Craft 2

Keep to cover and deal with foot injury.
((Is Nest 2 the only nest still operational on the beach?))

((Yeah, in a way.))

Pvt. Siegfried keeps his cover as the guns rage at the cliff. [3] Nothing spectacular happens, sand splashes from the impact of the bullets, sparks fly from his cover, and that's about it. He looks down at his bleeding foot. Deciding it is better to deal with it now rather than wait for a new medic to show up, [6-1=5] he takes the tattered shirt of one of his fallen comrades and tears a shred of it off to use as a bandage. He does a damn good job, stopping the bleeding and making it operable again. [6] The artillery roars on the cliff, sending down hell. The shell that hits by Siegfried doesn't kill him, though it really should have. Instead, it removes his cover and gives him some nasty cuts and scrapes from the metal of his cover literally exploding.

Spoiler: Pvt. Siegfried (click to show/hide)

Landing Craft 4

lets take out a gunner then. one shot, hopefully one kill, then duck behind the sea wall and stay down. no point letting myself get sniped. I'll be crawling to a new spot along the wall before I try to take another shot.

Pvt. Wonderland keeps his eye on the prize, the Nazi manning the gun. The shot is a little over 400 yards, so he adjusts his aim to compensate for bullet drop. The wind isn't blowing today, so he only really has to worry about the drop. He breathes in and then out, squeezing the trigger. [5+1+1=7] The bullet leaves the barrel and travels perfectly to the target, hitting the poor gunner in the base of the skull, not only killing him, but slightly deflecting the bullet to hit the foot of an incoming ammo boy, he falls and, in doing so, throws the ammo. It sails out the window of the nest, hitting the soft sand with a heavy thump. The artillery roars on the cliffs, but none are aimed at this point anyway due to the proximity to the sea wall.

crawl up the beach to more protective cover

Pvt. Frank snaps out of his Hawaiian daydream and decided to get to better cover. [3] The only better cover is way up at the sea wall. Not that it'd be that hotly contested, but regardless, he chooses to play it safe and crawls to the nearest tank trap, which is just adjacent to the left of his current position. The artillery roars on the cliffs [3] scaring Pvt. Frank into hiding, but not hurting him.

Spoiler: Pvt. Wonderland (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Pvt. Frank (click to show/hide)

Landing Craft 5

Get the landing party moving up to that now-empty nest. We need to gain ground, damn it! Shoot Germans as prescribed.

Pvt. Dukes tries to rally the rest of the soldiers from LC5 [5] He rallies the whole company to charge with him into the minefield. [2] The man to Dukes’ immediate left steps on a large enough mine to affect Dukes, which [4] only throws him [5] all the way to the other side of the minefield. While mostly unharmed, he does acquire a nasty concussion. [5] The rest of the boys make it alright. The artillery roars on the cliffs, [2] lobbing a shot that hits just left of Dukes, sending bits of shrapnel into his leg.

Spoiler: Pvt. Dukes (click to show/hide)

1st Airborne Division

Let us go out to capture more Nazis! Again, using my quick reflexes to not get hit, and with backup from my division-mates.
Erm. Although the one we just captured may need medical attention to make sure he doesn't die before we can interrogate him. One of my squad-mates should get on that.

The last person with any medical background is a veterinarian. He examines the sniper who lays bleeding out of his heart. “Prognosis ain't good. He's in shock, and there ain't no way to save him here. Sorry, man, nothin’ I can do.” In other news, [5] the hunt for more Nazis to capture gives good returns with a small squad of Nazis headed to do damage control at Nest 1. There's four, armed with three MP40s and an MG34. [3 Vs 1] The sudden scare of being ambushes by a larger force of Americans causes two of three to drop the MP40s and the other to fire randomly, killing the MG34 guy. [4 Vs 1] His gun jams and with that, they all surrender immediately. The blast of the Ship guns comes in loud and clear back at the defilade, but it's too far for anything to matter.

Spoiler: Pvt. Grey (click to show/hide)

Lt. Lucy

LT:More Kung Fu.

LT: Curse this gunner's name, and charge him!

Quote from: GM
Throw mud at him.

[1-2=-1] Doing his best Jackie Chan ((What kind of sorcery is this? He isn't even alive at this time!)) impression, Lt. Lucy leaps at the gunner, only to find himself three hundred feet behind the gunner. He turns to see the gunner fire at him, [4+3=7 Vs 3] missing the shots that should be like shooting fish in a barrel.
Lucy curses the Nazi’s name before charging headlong into the stream of fire. [5-2=3 Vs 1] The gunner's constant firing causes the barrel to burn, causing catastrophic failure. The barrel explodes.
[3-2=1 Vs 2] Lucy throws some mud at the nearly defenseless Nazi, but he throws it wrong and, through some violation of the laws of physics, hits himself in the eyes with the mud.

Spoiler: Lt. Lucy (click to show/hide)

Capture the nest! Capture all the Nazis, and take their nests!
As usual, use my quick reflexes to not get shot, and do the above action with the help of my mates.
