B, D, because we're pregnant for crying out loud, we can't risk our heir and reproductive capacity.

B, A is reasonable. They can't counter attack so well in their position, so taking a second to rally the men will be key to repelling the second wave. A second chance to charge them with Calvary is also nice.

You signal for the center to pull back, whilst you head into the melee with your personal bodyguard. The cavalry harasses their flanks, giving yours a chance to regroup.
Quote
Left flank: 4*
Center: 7*
Right flank: 6*
Success! The center retreats momentarily, but the enemy seems to think it is a rout! Their cavalry charges forwards, only to meet a bristling wall of spears and pikes. You personally land a dozen arrows (despite your pregnancy limiting your movements slightly), and after giving the flanks time to regroup, you lead a charge forwards that sends their center back, and then further, driving men into the river which, indeed, runs red with blood.
The left flank takes the opportunity to regroup, but the right flank does more than that, reorganising itself and then charging forwards, into an unprepared enemy. With their center broken, they too break, and are driven into the river. Only their right flank remains a serious threat.

But lo! Here come the ships, bearing many soldiers.
Quote
Left flank: 2*
Center: 5*
Right flank: 3*
A hail of arrows emerges from the vessels, though your own archers try to match it. With no heed for their ship's safety, they ram into the shore, often crushing their own soldiers beneath their hulls. Infantry leap out into the shallows and reinforce their struggling comrades.
The left finds the newly reinforced flank too much to deal with, and is once again driven back. The right flank, despite holding the banks, has similar difficulties withstanding the onslaught of well-rested and eager reinforcements. Only in the center do their efforts go to waste, as each man disembarking the boats is struck down, almost before having a chance to fight back.

Quote
Left flank: 5*
Center: 6*
Right flank: 5*
Here in the center, things are going well. Almost no one remains to stand against you. Their ships are desperately trying to push off, whilst some of your more enterprising soldiers are trying to board them.
Their flanks, meanwhile, finally start to collapse. Despite the greater numbers facing your left flank, a heroic effort on their part sees the enemy driven back, whilst the right flank manages to once again return the fighting to the banks of the river, where those on dry land have an advantage.
Some of their soldiers are trying to get back into the boats.

Quote
6
This urge to retreat quickly spreads throughout the rebel army, but to no avail- in their haste to deliver troops, the ships have run themselves firmly aground, and are unmovable. It is a grim slaughter, as only those capable of swimming (and not wearing heavy armour) are capable of escaping. The rest are killed or captured.

There is no way to chase down the remaining rebels, as they are on the other side of the river, and you have no way of- hang on, getting a message here. What's that? The ships? Oh. Right.
You capture the ships and claim them for yourself. A substantial prize for this hard-fought battle. Whilst you lack experienced sailors, you could probably figure out how to get them across the river, if you really wanted to...

A-Yes! We shall run down the remnants of Donuk's army!
B-No. We shall stay here and rest.

Then there is the matter of prisoners.

A-Kill them all!
B-Generously offer the option of joining your forces as an alternative to being killed.
C-Actually generously offer the option of joining your forces, or be released.

Let's see now...we've kill'd a dragon, we've repaired some nice roads, we've a good armorer and some relations with a vassal that we respect. We've got a guy in our dungeons indefinitely, and we routed an enemy force around 3x as big, while pregnant.

Now to worry how to handle all this + our husband and social stuff. But that's for later.

First off--our folks are tired, weary, and battle-worn. Probably also wet. :P We aren't chasing them off because the more that live = the more morale that Donuk takes as a hit, probably. Also they're rebels so this'll affect them rather than if they were bandits.

Aaaaand we're not being jerks this time with join or die! UNLESS people like that motto for some reason o_O I feel sparing them is better [...of course that's what I mostly always feel :P]

B,C

The ones that escaped before knows that we usually go the "join or die" way.

But this time we give the option to join or spread the word that a pregnant queen routed an army X times bigger.

(How much bigger? Donuk's inital force was 3 times ours, and there were 2 failed reinforcements. 5 times bigger?)

Let that humiliation sink in their minds, let them digest it slowly, let they see that she was really pregnant.

That might strike fear in anyone wielding a sword against Queen Erin.

(Also, if the dice rolls a bad number their death won't be a defiant one where will make ours soldiers embarassed, Maybe it will be just a "No thanks i just want to be a farmer now for the rest of my life or go far away from these lands")

To be fair, a river is a pretty big force multiplier. They were intending to cross the river all sneaky-like. If you hadn't gotten double sixes with that assassin business, you may not have known about it.
Of course, if Donuk hadn't sent an assassin in the first place, that wouldn't have come up. But they don't call him 'the Rash' because of his skin condition.

You let the remainder of Donuk's army retreat. The captured soldiers are offered a position in your army.
Quote
5*
Many of them accept, including a number of heavy infantry, who bring their armour and expertise to your forces. The rest are stripped of their gear and set loose, to find their own way home.

You return to Kralicanev on foot, leaving a few troops behind to deal with the ships. It may be tricky to sail them upriver; they have a fairly deep draft, and the river grows shallower as you head north.

Early Summer, 4 PC

One of your commanders comes before you with some bad news. A recent inspection of the troops' equipment revealed that much of it is in a shoddy state. Armour falling to pieces (not the nice new stuff made by the armoursmith), rusty swords, spears held together by spit and hope. He has two requests; first, that you do something about the current equipment,

A-Of course! We shall buy new equipment or pay for repairs.
B-Equipment is the responsibility of the soldiers. They get paid well enough, they can afford to make sure their equipment is in good condition.
C-Nah, it'll be fine.

and second, that you appoint a quartermaster with an independent budget to make sure this doesn't happen again.

A-Good idea. Find someone suitable and give them a fancy hat.
B-That sounds expensive. The army isn't that big, we can deal with it when it comes up.

I felt it was because of a 7. :P *checking back*, it was moreso a 6; the 7 was protection.
And I feel like our success is moreso the great choices by the nice fellows posting here :O I didn't figure out anything until it was obvious.

Also heh. "Still mad about burning our whole hometown". :P
I like how we went:

SOCIAL IMPROVEMENTS!

B, A.

...Although A, A sounds a lot better to me, feeling like B instills a more 'personal' feeling. Although I may also be assuming too much once more. :P

A,A Happy soldiers are good soldiers, and we are a warlord queen, so we should keep that army well equipped, even if we have to pay for it.
