You rouse the soldiers from their beds and pack up camp as quickly as possible, then start marching after the retreating (?) rebels (albeit on the other side of the river).

You march nonstop for hours before the exhausted men demand rest. You have no choice but to set up camp to allow the soldiers a few hours of sleep before resuming the march.

Alas, it seems Donuk is a more harsh taskmaster- either that, or his men were sleeping during the day- for by the time you catch up with him he has half finished crossing the river at a new crossing point. You arrive on the scene to see the rebels in a defensive position by the riverside, whilst the ships are crossing the river to pick up even more soldiers.

A-Then we must charge now, before the numbers become overwhelming!
B-Better to take a defensive position of our own, and let them come to us.
C-This battle is hopeless. Let us retreat back to Kralicanev, where the walls will even the odds.

The rebels have adopted a defensive formation around their landing site. How should we proceed?

A-Strong center, weak flanks. Overwhelming charge!
B-Balanced formation. Meet them spear to spear.
C-Weak center, strong flanks. Surround and conquer!

Because I'm under the impression that 'defensive formation' means 'protect embarking/disembarking troops', which...means they're fanned out? o_O
...Actually "C" would be better there but I can't picture this well when one mentions 'ships'. And our numbers vs. theirs; they're clustered assuming at least a 2:1 now, given our nice victory back there.

This calls for a solid charge! Time to put this new cavalry to work.

Left flank: 2
Center: 5*
Right flank: 3

Your cavalry crashes into them, scattering their formation. Before they can reorganise, your heavy infantry arrive on the scene, who outnumber the enemy's heavies and start to push them back.
The flanks do less well, with the left flank falling back temporarily, and the right flank struggling.

Right flank: 1

The flanks collapse and retreat, but the center pushes forwards relentlessly, until the enemy is standing in the shallows.

Their center is on the brink of collapse- but ours is about to be outflanked. And across the river, Donuk's ships are just taking off again, and will be here soon with reinforcements.
The good news is that some of our cavalry has disengaged and is ready to charge again.

What orders, M'am?

A-Break them! The flanks will fall without a center!
B-Have the center pull back in order to avoid being flanked, whilst we re-organise the flanks.
C-Retreat whilst we still can.

Does this require a personal touch?

A-Yes! To the center!
B-Indeed, to the left!
C-Aye, to the right!
D-No, I should stay here and oversee the whole battle.

Also we're pregnant but it's not in the later stages. Generally happened last Winter, this is Spring. First trimester, go!

I'm unsure if we should push this advantage or re-strengthen our flanks >_> we seem to have made good headway, but the idea of reinforcements means they'll be reinforced.
But given the options it means we take initiative before they can be reinforced...

It's either a nice A, A; or C, A. :V

C, A. Can't charge well if they're in the shallows of the river.

B,A i don't know if their troops will disembark next turn, maybe it won't be nice to have the flanks screwed when they charge.

Although A,A have a chance to strike really hard against enemy morale, but's a bit risky we can get ourselves surrounded.

C, i dont know what happens. At least we thinned their numbers, okay. Go back and wait for siege in our city? Go back to the fortified position in the fords? Maybe it's wiser to have a fortified position

If we are really early in our pregnancy it's pretty okay to fight.

I remember there was an Olympics where the athletes were discovered to purposely getting pregnant because the boost of strength that the early months gave, yes, cheating without drugs.

 We could do that in game on purpose even, and get the title of "the pregnant warrior" :V
