Gambling on a strange formation is something we should only do if we are very sure we know the opponents plans, or if we are at at a disadvantage and must do so to have any real chance of winning. Neither of those situations apply here.

"They" i mean the rebels. They marched in our lands, and lost the skirmish. (1 victory)

we raided one of the rebels, we vassalized the other. (2 victotorys, 3x0 to us)
and now the raided guy is trying to revenge us.

...I don't think we can easily generalize the rebel forces like this.
But these are nicely convincing arguments.

You adopt a balanced formation. Without stretching the ranks, there are only two flanks to deal with.

Left flank: 6*
Right flank: 6*_{anti-climactic, but what can you do}

The battle soon turns into a rout, as the attackers, perhaps weary after a long campaign, prove utterly incapable of displacing the stoic defenders from their advantageous position. Despite the exhortations of their commanders to stand and fight, the footsoldiers break and flee, leaving the heavy infantry unsupported, which forces them too to retreat.

The choice, as ever, is whether to pursue, or let them run.

A-Immediate pursuit!
B-Careful, measured pursuit.
C-No pursuit.

Then what to do with the captives.

A-Death awaits them all.

C-A request for voluntary allegiance.

We should raid the Loyalists, THEN compare them to the Rebels so we can spare whom and whom later
Although I think of the Loyalists as OKAY folks since...that's practically us. But where and whom do the rebels and loyalists pertain to?

Although...I do wonder if there are differences between capturing women vs men, since there was some sort of heckling back in our backstory. (Those who did that are all ded though) o_O
