Previous -- NextI realized the capacity of the wheelbarrow should be 90 kg, not 60 kg. Dustan (Dustan Hache), your request last time to toss all rusty stone into the thing has been retroactively granted, because it should have fit just fine. The stone you still see on the map is the opalescent one that Frank (Coolrune206) dropped.
Now, does
Lazlowe (Shadowclaw777) move faster than the nasty little things do?
Result: 3, Succeed weakly!
You'll go first, but the things still attack you, so I'll give you a proper combat round. Then you all catch up to
Dustan (Dustan Hache) coming the other way. Then, on the next combat round, everybody joins together.
Most combat tables as before
Lazlowe attack roll: 1, Fail terribly!
Damage to self (1d4-1): 2-1 = 1!
Lazlowe, HP: 3/10
Bug bat bird flock attack roll: 1, Fail terribly!
(This one's against Lazlowe--they're a flock, so they can keep attacking everyone even after this fails . . . )
Confusion roll (1d20): 5!
5 fly in the wrong direction, so the flock is effectively 15 strong for a moment
Dustan's combat table, throwing rocks with bare hands:
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Succeed weakly
4: Succeed weakly
5: Succeed
6: Fail by succeeding
Dustan attack roll: 6, Fail by succeeding!
Damage to Lazlowe (1d4-1): 4-1 = 3!
Lazlowe, HP: 0/10
Bug bat bird flock attack roll: 6, Fail by succeeding!
Damage to Dustan (1d6+1): 4+1 = 5!
Dustan, HP: 1/10
Damage to bug bat bird flock (1d6+1): 3+1 = 4!
Bug bat bird flock size: 11/15
That was
interesting . . .
Lazlowe turns straight around and charges whence he came, swinging his pick at the menacing creatures to keep them away. Unfortunately, he runs straight into his old nemesis, walls, ricochetting off one of them with minor injuries. This act seems to confuse the flock, and five of them on an attack run start flying off in the wrong direction.
Worse, Lazlowe runs straight into his new nemesis, Dustan's aim. Throwing rocks into the cloud, Dustan swings a nasty one straight into Lazlowe's face.
Lazlowe has been struck down!
Bug bat bird things start chomping on Dustan. Amazingly, confusion continues, as some among the flock impale themselves on the mining pick in his hand while trying to get at him!I'll just roll for combat order and hope you do better this next round . . .
Oh, look, the flock goes first.
Bug bat bird combat table, fighting as a group based on flock size (11):
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Succeed weakly
4: Succeed
5: Succeed
6: Fail by succeeding
Attack roll: 4, Succeed!
Damage to Frank (1d6+1): 5+1 = 6!
Frank, HP: 4/10
Continuing to attack John and Dustan after some of the flock struck Frank:
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Succeed weakly
4: Succeed weakly
5: Succeed weakly
6: Fail by succeeding
Bug bat bird flock attack roll: 6, Fail by succeeding!
Damage to John (1d4-1): 1-1 = 0!
Damage to bug bat bird flock (1d4-1): 1-1 = 0!
Bug bat bird flock attack roll: 1, Fail terribly!
Damage to bug bat bird flock (1d4-1): 4-1 = 3!
Bug bat bird flock size: 8/15
Now, humanity's turn.
Frank attack roll: 5, Succeed greatly!
Damage roll (1d6+6): 5+6 = 11!
Bug bat bird flock size: 0/15
And I'll just assume the rest of you try to kill those five that flew off on their own . . .
John attack roll: 6, Fail by succeeding!
Damage to bug bat bird flock (1d6+1): 5+1 = 6!
Bug bat bird flock size: 0, and we mean it this time
Damage to John (1d6+1): 2+1 = 3!
John, HP: 7/10
All survivors gather together in the cloud, swinging wildly. The bug bat birds deal great damage to Frank, but flutter ineffectually at John, while another handful are responsible for their own death as they are trampled underfoot. Frank's retaliation is total: he sweeps creatures out of the air, leaving only the small flock that had mistakenly broken away earlier. John leaps to take care of the latter before it can do more damage, and he smashes the bizarre creatures against a wall, damaging his fists repeatedly in his eagerness.
Bug bat bird has been struck down! x20Well. That there was some death.
You might have reactions. Note: if you grow a sense of responsibility, be advised there is no soil for burial. See inventory in the first post to loot valuable items off of the corpse.
Shadowclaw777, want to go back on the waitlist? I won't let anyone from the list into the game
just yet; I need players to live to the end of this opening scene or die trying first.
Surviving players: you have reduced health, reduced carrying capacity, and no source of water. And I, the GM, will just sit back and see if you can follow my hints to get out of this mess.
