edit: I agree that they are toothless, but if you can hope to find some individuals in the margins that have not been corrupted yet it's there... greens are getting more neoliberal by the day. I mean why even vote I totally get the frustration, that thing is not reduced to the USA, but if you're not some activist or revolutionnary instead, it strikes me as somewhat reactonnary to waste effort to swat this down.

No I'm not simply referring to propaganda pamphlets, Gregor Gysi predicted why the Euro would fail in the 1990's... The guy is now jacking off on pro bono cases and talkshows. His partymember Sarah Wagenknecht had a PHD in economics and was even more concise, she basically pulled a Tulsi Gabbard, veired ugly and spent her political capital on bullshit. The new leadership is super bland I do not even know their names. Melenchon and Corbyn look fine except I don't know jack shit about them, Sanders looked fine, now we know more. Are you really gonna level the criticism that if a party leader can't bring a party to electoral victories they should still stay there forever and not just give up the reigns because they are better? What kind of an asshole would have that high of an opinion of themselves. If these people have two braincells of course they're not gonna dedicate the rest of their lifes to a lost battle.

You are right, except in the very few cases you aren't, so why is it so important we erase an entire category?

Social democratism/democratic socialism is an ideology and an ideology does not change because the party with that term in their name stops adhering to that ideology.

The biggest right wing party in Sweden is called "the moderates". They are not moderates. Are you saying we should stop using the word moderate to mean moderate just because a party has a misleading name? Because that is what your entire notion regarding social democrats seem to come down to. The German party called "social democrats" having a misleading name meaning that the entire ideology of social democracy/democratic socialism having changed definition.

Hnefataffel was how we pronounced the name so that is acceptable I have a board somewhere, it was pretty fun iirc.

So...along with the Senate analysis, I'm also doing a separate analysis to try and give a reasonable answer to the question: "When will we have a winner?"
Unfortunately, the answer to that is a very, very big "Well, it depends."

Short version is: if Biden crushes it in states like FL, AZ, GA, TX and CO then we might well know on Election night. If it's closer than that, and he has to rely on states like PA, MI, OH and WI then it could be as much as two weeks after the election.

My only issue is their strategy for helping the poor. A cash injection, no matter how big (or small) just isn't the answer.

Then consider the concept of velocity of money. A thousand dollars in a low income households is basically a thousand dollars straight into the economy.

Velocity of money doesn't do what people think it does.  I mean think about this: if you and I just trade $1000 bills back and forth between us, say for the entertainment value of our discussion, that is a significant money velocity - but basically doesn't do anything "for the economy."

High velocity of money is only beneficial under certain circumstances, not the least of which is that the money stays within the community where it is traded, because it then most closely represents economic activity.  In most modern societies though, a significant chunk of any exchange is siphoned off to somewhere else - to corporate profits, to taxes, etc.  It leaves the community - the faster you spend dollars, the faster they leave the community.

It doesn't help that in most modern societies that money cannot be created except by certain empowered groups either - once all the money is gone from a community, it must be re-injected.
