See if i can figure out exactly how I'm hurt. Don't want to try to fix burns when it's actually shrapnel in there, after all.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Tiri Rin quickly finds out that they're way too close to the star to avoid the 'gruesome death by stellar shockwave' scenario.

Eliza Tenzhen attempts to fix the engine!

She manages to fix it just enough! Unfortunately the aft stabilizer is out of whack and will require calibration for which there is simply no time now. All jumps out of this system will count as 'unstable'!

Cripto easily sends a distress call to anyone who might be listening in the near region of space.

Harry Baldman easily plots a course straight away from the red giant, but it won't help much...

Twinwolf discovers that the wounds are of the shrapnel-y kind. He can fix them, but it won't be as easy as if he was operating on someone else. //(Halved Surgery bonus due to wound.)

This Research Officer concludes that unstable warp jumps are more hazardous compared to stable jumps, or in the least require a degree of refinement and control to avoid external hazards affecting both mission, ship, and crew.

Help from others grants bonuses only if they have bonuses to the skill in question ;v
Cadets are going to be VERY USEFUL from now on!
Starfleet command sends their second ship stuffed full of Cadets, methinks? :P

The Research Officer Agrees. There is little probability of survival otherwise.

All hope is onto you, Astrophysicist. Do not let us down.

BUT! Do take information data from this one adventure and see whether we can improve anything on the ship from all the collated data. More research!

The diplomacy officer notes, diplomatically, that that seemed somewhat obvious.

I'm okay jumping, if my input was needed in this decision.

"She'll jump, Harry, but good luck working out where to!"

Nothing else I can do. Strap down and hope I don't get smeared across 11 dimensions.

Yep, Jumping is fine here. Best to not attempt medical aid when there may be sudden extreme acceleration anyway.

And there was a jump!

Quote

And it was a good one. After it cools down, Eliza Tenzhen calibrates it up.

The scanner reports that this system has a yellow star, not dissimilar from New Home, the star around which the humankind's Colonia planet orbits.

This system contains a volcanic planet very close to the star, a desertified planet with atmosphere, and two gas giants far behind; one swirling with brown and black stripes, the other almost uniformly emerald.

The scanner reveals large bodies of water on the desert planet! The planet's surface temperatures reach up to 340 K and more during the day. Geological and volcanic activity is low, and there are no signs of complex life on the planet.

What shall the crew do?

And there was a jump!

Upon reviewing the jump reports, Tiri makes a very distinct calculation that advice--when, not if they survive--for new pioneers would include one skilled Astrophysicist or an apprentice for such.

"I'm leaving the choices for the rest of you--I'll be preparing my equipment and ready for getting samples however. We could use some of the materials to create and design items for use."

Ponder if I can use 'research' to create personal items that'd protect us from hazards, or improve weaponry. ._.
Edit/Modify:
> Research in this context, that is.

Hum, with no one to practice my cunning linguistics on, all I can really do is scan the system closer for signs of intelligent life.

With nothing obviously broken, now, Eliza is going to be running diagnostics and ensuring they won't have any unforseen issues.

Tiri Rin quickly finds out that no, she can't develop items out of thin air.

Harry Baldman attempts to enter orbit of the gas giant.

Thanks to his skill, he has no trouble doing so. Then he scans for satelites but none are present, neither artificial nor moons.

Cripto attempts to scan for life.

He finds that the desert planet shows some methane production going on in the polar regions! Mayhaps there's some exciting bacteria dwelling there.

Eliza Tenzhen runs some diagnostics and a little bit fixin'.

She managed to patch up all the loose bits of the spaceship, which is fully functional again.

Twinwolf continues to bleed and loses counciousness!

Since we're in orbit and thus not in particular need of navigation for a bit, go practice unsanctioned medicine on Twinwolf.
