She returns the smile.

"What are you interested in? What kind of things do you like doing?"

Emile clears her throat. "Well, let's get started then. Once you've got the gloves on, take the plant - Medela, is the name. Common in most forests where magic and beings that use it can be found in abundance - and place it in the mortar. That's the bowl. Then mash it with the pestle until you see red bits from inside the medela. You'll want to mash it until the contents of the mortar are predominantly red. This should take about two minutes."

Alex decides that using his ability would help practice his magic while simultaneously doing what was necessary, so instead of his hands mashes the medela with his mind instead.
