Thanks Draignean.

She doesn't admit to still liking/aspiring to create poetry and music. Far too busy being professional and everything for that. But sometimes surely every hard bitten mercenary has a moment of softness where they think, gah, I should have followed my dreams and not given up playing guitar writing poems, imagine where I could be now, right?

I couldn't think of better traits, but more imagined character habits, but can certainly (possibly) add to them slightly if more come to me.

Don't we all?

Anyway, Sadish... Have I ever told you how much I enjoy it when backstories flesh out argot and background? It makes me quite happy, quite happy indeed. The only real prod I have is saying that Sadish is 10ft tall when Fin typically measure by length. Also, shoulders and neck are... odd ways to phrase position on what is essentially a dolphin. They're not precisely wrong, but it can make odd images pop into my head. As far as the can paying for tuition, it's odd, but I can also immediately rationalize how it could possible true in-universe, so that's more an interesting quirk for me than a problem.

I'm getting a picture of a crew in my head, and I like what I'm seeing a great deal.

On a different note, is there any other information that players, or prospective players, want from me?

Right, I suppose it's hard not for me to think of in human terms (comparing my last character, who was far less realistic). I can fix those things.

As for tuition, I'm getting from the idea from the lore that technology level is a bit scattered-most planets are at a standard it seems, but I would think there's alot of friction between Low-->Prime-->Apex, with each 'research tier' desiring to get what the guys above them have, and the guys above very not wanting them to do so, since that upsets the balance of power-they might trickle small gifts, but I think they'd relentlessly guard their technological advancement, lest it be used against them.  So a rare 'artifact', that could in theory be fairly common for an Apex civilization, being dug up on a low/prime planet like here, would be a major find. It would be very valuable to certain parties to get a hold of them, and that's where the money comes in. In this case, I'd imagine 'neo-aluminum' is some sort of high tech metal that has a wide range of uses. It's entirely possible she was funded by low/prime planets looking for new tech, or an apex civilization patron swooped in to deny them that very thing. Sadish herself would be quite blind to the difference, really, just happy to be recognized and allowed to make her career. Or perhaps her find merely connected two little dots in some nebulous galaxy spanning quest, that Sadish and our crew will never know or hear about it.

Am I close to the mark here?

Quite. Technological friction, and the exchange of usable knowledge, is the drive of most empires. Most up and coming prime-tech empires live in a state of perpetual terror that an Apex empire will perceive them as a threat. The reach of the mighty is long, and it doesn't do well to get behind when you're trying to ascend an exponential curve.

The justification in my head was that the can was that the neo-aluminum was an example of a very primitive form of programmable matter, designed to efficiently recycle itself. This particular can malfunctioned, hence the reason it's still intact, and provides extremely valuable insight into both advanced recycling techniques and programmable matter in general, even if the physical properties of the material are as unexceptional as the average soda can.

Let's give this a shot!

Hey Draignean! It's good to see you back. I'm likely to make a sheet for this.
(Heh... I decided to take another crack at my old month-of-the-year character scheme like I did in Lighthouse, rolled a month, and got April. Time to make a new version of an old, old character...)

It's clear enough from the character and traits that I can see him, and I trust the rest will come naturally as play progresses. I'm curious how he'll turn out if I choose to integrate him into the crew. He doesn't fit well in many positions other than 'leader', and thus picking him has... implications.

My advice would be to make sure your biologies are compatible and then parent Dr. Daniel Carter.

More seriously, that's always a tough position to be in... Is there any other character you're very interested in playing?

Hey Draignean, do you have details worked out for various worlds, or can I just make stuffs up? Something like political intrigues casting down a disgraced neo-felidae noble that would later become my aesthete character.

You are absolutely allowed to make shit up. I'll correct as needed, but there are countless colonized worlds, all with their own quirks, layered history, and customs. There is no way I could possibly define even a representative subset.

EDIT FOR EDIT:

Yep, that kind of thing happens all the time.

I was wondering; what are the limits of Iron Weavers? One recycled character would fit right into that, but I'm basically wondering just how much they could reconstruct the user, and if the nanites could affect the aging process. I'm trying to decide between this one, a crow piloting a bigass suit of power armor, the pilot, or some combination of the first and last; wondering which would fit best here.

...heh, I was gonna make a former noble myself (albeit a young woman who voluntarily leaves the whole court sphere), but I can switch backstory ideas pretty easily, since I'm assuming that two characters with ex-noble backgrounds would end up competing in the character acceptance process?
(Edit: Yeah, I already thought of another idea :v Back a few years ago, I had a standard RTD character I would play, so drawing from those various games gives me quite a lot of material)

Well, it depends. Mine is an Apex politician-ish noble a la Dune, and so she's considerably less pampered than a traditional noble and more like a politician.
