After his practice session, Dexter overhears this conversation.

Would you mind signing me up as well? The sooner we learn your language, the better.

"If a superior option is available, I choose it. That's the case with this company, so integration is the goal. After all what did Gaians ever do for me? Besides die."

"I guess you must have suffered quite a lot to be so bitter about Gaia... Look, we have specialists who can help you get over your anger, that's not healthy for you. After the mission I'll also make an appointment for you alongside the classes."

Ignoring the sigils, as much as possible, Danh says to Amadou, "Alright. When do you want me to teach them?"

"The brief weapons training they had was more to introduce them to the weapons than to actually teach anything. I'd like you to go around asking to see their weapons, and teach them the basics - what the safety is for, how to stand, how to aim, how to reload, that kind of thing. Since you had military training, tomorrow get them some practice, but most importantly, teach us all some infantry tactics."

Regon raises an eyebrow

Amadou facepalms and asks Ratodx for help...

After his practice session, Dexter overhears this conversation.

Would you mind signing me up as well? The sooner we learn your language, the better.

"Certainly. After we return. Anyone else would like to join the Terran language classes? Or should I just sign up all of you?"

"Suffer? No, my happiness was simply not possible if Gaia stayed the way it was so Akras changing it will remake it into a place I can be happy. Those who dwell in the past die in it. Besides it seems my kind of 'madness' is the norm in Terra."

[Maegil]

"I didn't say you're mad, just that all that anger isn't healthy. It is to the mind what tying to hold on after having bad meat is to the bowels; all I'm doing is pointing at a bush and giving you wipes."

"I've made peace with my past. Mainly because those who did cause me to be upset died. I was referring to madness, as in insanity. Gaians called me mad, Terrans gave me a job. So either they were right, in which case I'm embracing the madness, or they're wrong and I will return to enlighten them."

Danh wanted to do two things.
A; Tell the orc to learn to goddamn speak properly, and that magic isn't normal at all, the opposite if it in fact, and that words shouldn't bite your pal's fingers off while on patrol.
B; Tell that soul eater kid that Terrans aren't his kind of crazy, that no normal human being practices fucking necromancy, and no one likes it.

The man kept his mouth shut, though.
Nodding at Amadou, he says, "Sounds fine. I'll head out now, to catch up on tactics."
And with that, he turns around to leave the barracks, making sure to give the Orc and Gaian a wide berth. Having controlled his voice, his aggression is likely concealed behind a tone of neutrality.

With each new word Khaiden said, the more Danh wanted to sock him right in the face. Something about him rubbed him the wrong way, and it wasn't just his attitude and magic-ness.

"I see Terra and I see a dimension where ability and intellect are valued over birth and tradition. That is why Gaia will fall. Not to say Akras is a meritocracy, but you have to admit that the corporation offers permanence."

Can we not come to a compromise? Our team mate is not yet used to magic so perhaps you can perform magic away from his view until he is more comfortable with it or at least give him warning before hand. Our comrade should also work on his unease around magic over time as quite of few members of this team are magi.

[KaineFisher]

"I'll avoid the more upsetting parts, but if those parts are necessary or would make things smoother I will use them. As for those upsetting parts, Akras is doing the same on a massive scale, so it seems that corporation aren't people when it comes to how people view actions."

[Kavrick]

Regon starts to visibly get annoyed
"'E can get zoggin' bent, I dont tell 'im what 'e can an' cant do, I even took it inta' considaration to do all muh magic in dis 'ere corner of da room, it'z not muh problem if 'e'z too mucha pansi to even see a coupla runes. Muh body 'ave runes all over it, do ya wan' me tah also stay outta 'is zoggin' way too?"

"I'll be honest and blunt with you Boss. I agree with Regon. Six of the Eight members of this squad use magic in some capacity, unless Vhan has something to share, which would make it Seven of Eight. Such a concentration is rather rare in Gaia, unless you've got a Magi Guild of some sort, but compared to Terra, Gaia is zoggin full of magic. It is often times dangerous, yeah, but the fact is that Danh is going to be involved in magic for as long as he's a part of this squad. At this point, as long as he's a part of Akras, really. If he can't get used to magic, then he's going to have more than just a rough time. I think a valid option is to give Danh a briefing on magic and on the magic the squad can do. Let him know how magic works, how we power it, and the rough capabilites of the squad. A promise not to fuck with him magically might help as well. Might help with the idea of "I don't care what they do as long as they don't do it to me.""

After his practice session, Dexter overhears this conversation.

"I'm interested in participating in the language courses as well. The primers are useful, but an instructor should help."

I never said that. I simply ask that a compromise be made until the issue no longer relevant. There is no need to create resentment in the squad.

"A compromise would be for the best, I already got a concession from him and he's keeping his side - I got him to keep his misgivings to himself, but guys, you have to give him some time to adapt.

Please understand that our member most qualified to use weapons and teach them to the rest of us - yes, I'm including myself - has problems with magic.

As you said, Terra has no magi, it's even more uncanny to most of us than it must be for you to be around explosive microwaves and intelligent hand grenades. That is why I'm asking you to have some respect for his misgivings and avoid rubbing it in his face until he adapts... And adapt he must, and quickly, because we're in Gaia and, as you said, he's in a team of magi.

Regon, when we return I'll try to find a place for your rituals - maybe even outside where there's more nature than here in this aseptic underground."
