As much as I don't mind mod stuff, I worry that if pony pictures are known to be okay here, there could suddenly be a huge flood of ponies that drown out the dwarves.

A valid concern, which was why I hesitated to post it.  I searched the thread first and saw that there was at least one other picture, so it seemed like a safe risk...

The good news is that I don't have anything else pony related to post.   The bad news is that I haven't even played vanilla DF in months, so nothing dorfy to post either.

I think this is probably good advice.  I posted a pic of a dying pony, and already we've got posts risking a discussion about why ponies suck or are awesome.  I don't want to derail the thread into that, so let's move right along...

(Actually, can't tell if serious.  Was this a community agreed upon rule of sorts buried deep in the thread somewhere I missed with my search?  If so, apologies all around.)

Nah, forum-wide-common-sense. Especially in the lower parts there were... incidents. Best thing is to have pony lovers/haters/confused/curious ignore each other in non-pony-related threads. So the pony itself isn't that bad (it's actually drawn quite well), and probably on topic if you used the ponymod, but discussing the merits of the brony scene in general is not on topic.
