Zeratuu smirks up at Etoile "Free also means can choose, yes? Zeratuu little kobold in city of pink-skins, cannot speak Common. Much rather stay with person who was kind when he had no reason to be. Besides, not free yet, not until dwarves gone-gone. This not first time this one has escaped, but they find her each time. Maybe this time is better."

Aloisturm pondered that for a moment, then nodded. "Very well. Thank you for the sparring match."

The construct returned to "Master", already plotting.

A thought passes Etoile's mind and he suddenly becomes stiff and serious.

"Stay still, Zuratuu. I want to check this collar."

The collar around Zeratuu's neck glows with an Arcane Mark, repeated around its circumference. She holds perfectly still, as commanded, eyes obviously trying to look down through her head at his source of concern.

The pit in Etoile's stomach deepens. He holds his stomach and makes a grimace, taking a moment to regain composure.

"Listen carefully, Zeratuu. There is magic on that collar. It's likely that's how they keep finding you no matter how much you run away. We don't have time to wait for the dwarves to go. We need to find somebody that can dispel or remove that collar today. Problem is, it's festival day. Finding such a person would be harder than usual and they have a way of tracking you down.

We can't stay in one place. We need to go. Now."

He starts gathering the essential notes and thinks of how he could possibly find somebody to fix this little problem. Maybe he could buy a dispel magic scroll until we find a permanent solution... that wouldn't work probably. We need to get rid of the collar. Maybe a keysmith?

Steven already outdid everyone else with the first round. Even if he loses, Steven has already put on quite the show for them. His grit faltering showing that display, he swaps the unlit cigarette in his mouth for another one and adjusts his hat, as he does before getting into a fight. While no blood will be shed, he had no intention of losing this "duel".

Force of habit has him reach for his flint and steel but keeps it away as he takes aim.

Steven readies himself and prepares to fire

Jee wilikers, I think Highmax is near invulnerable, must have been dunked in the river styx like achilles was.
Just make sure he wears a boot.

((Gotta say, I love how on the ball you guys are. I've thought out five different ways to handle the collar, its going to be interesting to see what you end up doing.))

((I've got to hand it to you, Hanzoku. You have a way with the subtle hints. The realization hit me like a truck. I felt exactly how Etoile felt, minus the churning of the stomach.))

((Good luck explaining that to the kobold. "Oh, don't worry, I'll just shoot at your neck. It won't hurt a bit, promise I won't miss, tehee."))

((I'll probably be able to craft magical locks at level 5 or so, but I dunno about disabling. It's also two levels longer than simply shooting it off :P ))

((No disable device here, either.

On the bright side, I can repair just about anything from level 1 (useful if your gun breaks) and once we hit level 5 I can gain the ability to craft all sorts of magical/psionic goodies.))
