Anyhow... I had to check because people put words in Donald Trump's mouth all the freeken time.

So... Yeah... He is looking into banning Gay Marriage.

Though he is, apparently, for protecting homosexuals in the work place. Unless they are Trans. (which makes me look at his words closer and he said he would give homosexuals the SAME protections.)

So your argument is because you don't know better, just trust him? Despite all the evidence to the contrary?

I should just trust you and Hillary then right?

I don't give a shit if you trust me. I wasn't running for president. But I at least expected conservatives to exercise the same judgment they'd apply when a used car salesmen is trying to sell them an overpriced piece of shit saying "it'll be great." Hilary wasn't perfect by any extent of the imagination. But the unwillingness to let her win elected a charlatan.

Well then enjoy the mess you helped create. I'm sure when the founding fathers wrote about an informed electorate, this is exactly what they had in mind.
Wow, you can just jog right on then.

You're banking on fucking precedent after what happened yesterday?

Yeah, and these judges could, theoretically, overturn that precedent. I'm not sure that it's the most likely thing ever, but it's definitely a possibility.

It's actually similar to most religious stances on the subject - be gay if you want, thats your thing, but marriage is sacred so stay the fuck away.

Why is it that a defense for Trump is often "Come on, how much damage can he do?" whenever the topic goes to "Yes, he is trying to do this!"

Instead of "Yeah, but I doubt even he can pull it off"

"Clinton wasn't a suitable candidate" > It's the best that ever existed
I can't believe there's people on this forum that actually think Clinton was the best candidate for Dems. Before the primaries were over it seemed Bay12 pol threads were for Bernie and hated Hilldawg.

In all honesty, I'm pretty baffled by this myself. At the start of the campaigns, Bernie was clearly the favorite candidate in this thread, and now people are somehow pretending they were with Hillary from the start. Hell, many even lamented when Bernie fell out of the race.

I'm not convinced Bernie would've been a better candidate. His policies could've been a major push factor and his minority performance would've been even worse. There are some questions to be asked about why such a deeply unpopular candidate was allowed to run basically unopposed in the primaries though.

Until that precedent is reversed in very short order by said anti-gay marriage justices. Congrats on getting gay marriage banned.

It was kinda made that way so that certain geographic aglomerations didn't get to rule the whole country. 'murica isn't one homogenous society, its a whole half a continent composed of a whole shitton of different people with different interests, if just pure majority of votes was taken into account, you might just as well rename it the united republic of new york, california and florida.

I don't understand this argument in the slightest. Under popular vote every person gets exactly one vote, if a majority of people vote for a candidate he/she SHOULD win.

It also doesn't change the influence of these states in the slightest, the only thing that the current system does is make every vote that does not tip the balance to one party completely useless.

without the ec, people in nyc, and other dense areas would dictate how food is grown without even the slightest idea how that process works.

see for example, how good that worked in stalinist russia.

What do you mean? Why do you think I'm even defending him? The election's over. I'm talking about the reality of the situation at this point.
