>trump says he's gonna win California
hahahahaha
This is delusional on the part of Trump's campaign. Math doesn't work.
Misdirection stratagem

Make the opponent waste resources on a safe seat whilst focusing entirely on the swing seats
Any penny spent by the opposition on California makes a free statement worth a penny more

I actually believe with no hyperbole that if given maximum reach kudzu could render every warm area on the planet uninhabitable. I've seen some shit, man. It never stops. Majestic, ancient trees choked to death under the curling vines...
Fucking hell, maximum kudzu
The most beautiful carnage, strangled to death by vibrant life

Except the Dems aren't about to take the bait. Any serious money spent in California will be for state/local races.

Clinton could say she's gonna win Texas, but I doubt even Trump's campaign is stupid enough to fall for that. And she has a much better chance there (currently Trump +7.2) than Trump does in Cali (currently Clinton +19.8).

Though a new poll in Texas shows the race at just +2 for Trump, so who knows?
EDIT: Doh....just now noticed that was from a year ago. Nevermind.

Yeah it'd be pretty surprising if they took the bait, it's a very transparent stratagem

Which is why I don't think it's a stratagem at all, it's Trump being Trump.

Meanwhile, Gary Johnson says we don't need a climate change plan because the sun will eventually engulf the planet anyways.

While the lack of long-term thinking is often a criticism of politicians, I don't think that's quite the long-view we're looking for.  ::)

Rake hike to support serious NASA spending when? We only have a limited amount of time to spread throughout the universe like we're some kind of invasive vine, after all.

If you think about it, that's pretty much a solid Libertarian justification for not doing anything about anything.

"We don't need effective welfare reform, because the eventual heat-death of the universe renders it a moot point."

Turns out, we were the kudzu all along.

If Trump made no effort in Texas at all, Clinton could give him quite the scare there.  Democrats are hoping that their GOTV advantage will give Clinton 1-3% over Trump this year but that's with Republicans contesting the field of battle (however ineffectively).  With no effort at all on the presidential level that could be a bit more, maybe 2-4%.  An advertizing blitz in a non-competative race is usually much more effective then in a competative one because the voters aren't already saturated with ads.  Maybe costs about $250 to convince another person to vote rather then sit out and can increase vote share by 3% or so due to increased turnout so it would cost a cool 60 million bucks.  Plus Clinton has a built in advantage that she could run one set of ads on univision and another set on english television.  Put the GOTV and the television together and you can see how a 7% lead isn't that much of a sure thing... but there are better ways to spend 60 million.

Like goading Trump into another anti-immigrant rant during the debates?

GOTV efforts in Texas: 10 million
Ad blitz in Texas: 60 million dollars
Goading Trump into an anti-immigrant rant during the debates: Priceless

There's some things in life money can't buy.  For everything else there's SuperPAC.

Trump now saying that "drugs were a very, very big factor" in the Charlotte riots. WTF?  ???

I thought "they all must be on drugs" is the kind of shit your racist grandfather says to explain anything he doesn't understand.

I'm struggling to figure out why this quote DOESN'T apply to Trump. He does nothing but spew verbal diarrhea about things he doesn't understand.

Meanwhile, Gary Johnson says we don't need a climate change plan because the sun will eventually engulf the planet anyways.

You should also forget about health reform, or health insurance at all, because you're just going to die eventually anyway.
