"I will follow you", you tele-say to the girl.

"3!" She darts out of the back and zips around the corner. You stall a minute -- being taken by surprise -- and catch up. Before the Protectors can even react, she takes one out with a mind melt. Before the second one can fire his weapon, you tele-snatch the cap off of a nearby hydrant which hits him in the head and forces him to the ground by the water's pressure.

The blindfolded girl gives you adoration in the form of a "nice work", said out loud. All isn't over yet. The driver! He's still a problem! He's smart though. You can hear him speaking loudly to someone.

"He's calling for backup!" says the girl.

"I will handle this, young ones." This 'voice' is masculine and a little familiar. It's the bearded mumbler. He jump into the driver's compartment through the sunroof.

"What the-"

He calmly turns to the man and puts one hand on his own forehead. "Nevermind, Central. False alarm. It was only a flat tire and we'll be re-assuming the route as scheduled." The Protector, with an odd look on his face, repeats these words to his radio.

"Central to Camel 1. You sure? You said you were being attacked by Psilons who have escaped. We'll send out a small escort team. Central out." The radio buzzes and then goes silent.

"Blast it!" The man waves his hand and the Protector's face crashes into the steering wheel. He's been put to sleep. He makes his way out of the driver's compartment and round to you and the girl. "Young ones, they send reinforcements. We must make haste to an Enclave!"

> Yes. You agree. But which Enclave can you seek temporary refuge in?
> No. Working together to break out of roller prison doesn't make us friends. From here, we part.
> Wait for Blindfold to speak first.
> Do something else.

Darn it, I wanted to do the Mind Trick.

We should stick with the others, at least until we're out of the mess.

What Enclaves are there?

By the way, I was wondering... What does "muse" mean?

Muse: As a verb, it means to "be absorbed in thought".

House of Yharn: The upper-class "royalty" of the Psilonic community. The House of Yharn is purely Psilonic Mystic, no other Psi-capables -- regardless of species -- are allowed to consort with a Yharnite. For some reason, they tend to be left alone by the CPS, and are only investigated when one of their own steps out of line or does something rash. They are very elitist, and look down on the other Enclaves. Their saving grace? They find traitors just as contemptible as any other Enclave, and will allow any branch of Mystic to join.

Enclave of Illumination: Psilons mainly dealing with light, healing and empathy, the Lightened Ones, or Illumination Enclave hold light in high regard and live in places with a lot of glass (to allow as much light to fill the area as possible). Their doors are open to all Psi-capables.

Tantric Enclave: The Tantrics are one of the most powerful Enclaves, but you wouldn't know it due to their obliviousness to the outside world. Their primary motivations are to realise the ultimate pleasure, and to seek universal understanding. Aside from joy through intimacy (both Psionic and not), they are huge fans of mindmelding. Following the ways of the Mystics of yore, they have created a Psionic network -- the Psiplace -- where their consciousnesses and abilities create one superego, allowing truly instant transmission of thoughts and emotions. Those near them might feel a sense of belonging, a pull towards the Psiplace, and will join in on the mindmelding. They have invented and refined techniques which stimulate the pleasure centres of the brain, and they are always seeking new avenues of pleasure.

Lost People: This Enclave is filled, primarily, with mediums, and have access to spiritual abilities in addition to their Psionic ones. Seemingly composed of Druidic aethetic, the Lost People are highly secretive and suspicious of non-members, but they are fiercely loyal to those who have joined their ranks.

Psellouts: The worst of the worst. These are your Psi-capable mercenaries, soldiers, Protectors and scientists who help the Corptocracy further its anti-Psi agenda. They are the ones responsible for the invention of the Psi-cancelling membrane and the training of all Anti-Psilon Task Force Protectors. They know they can never show their face in any Enclave -- even the Lightened Ones -- lest they leave with their brains leaking out of their ears. Possibly the worst thing you can be in Outropolis as even the Protectors themselves don't truly respect Psellouts.

You open your mouth when Blindfold cuts in and starts speaking. "What? Whoa. No. Just because we escaped a prison transport together doesn't mean we're friends. Besides, my Enclave won't take kindly to you, and I'm not about to party with the stuck-up Yharnites. No offence if either of you are."

You and the mumbler exchange looks. "But", you reply, "sticking together is the best chance we have. Didn't you hear the old man? They're sending back-up. They probably know what we look like and without an Enclave to have our backs our best bet is each other. For right now, at least."

Blindfold sighs, and relents. "Fine. But I want to get back to my Enclave soon so don't go thinking this is some kind of quest or something."

"Sure."

Blindfold folds her arms, giving off a vibe of impatience. "Well, where to?" Get names before heading to . . .

> the Upper East Side. Full of nosy rich corporate (figurative) whores who are too wealthy to do anything but be nosy and gossip.
> the Capital District. Home to the Corptocracy and the Multinational Conglomerate. Essentially the Corporate Congress.
> Riverside. Da Hood, but cyberpunky. This is where a lot of illegal augments are done, and everyone is walking around with some kind augment.

*There are Enclaves yet to be discovered. Outropolis is huge, friends.

Riverside is probably our best bet.

Ask the girl whicb Enclave she's talking about.

"So if we're going to do this, can I at least get some names?"

"I guess. I'm Vahara." At least you can stop calling her Blindfold now.

"I am Zhanort, Speaker of Minds." The old man says flatly.

"Well, how about you?" Vahara inquires.

You look sideways for a few seconds. "I . . . I don't have a name."

Vahara rolls her eyes. "Then what are we supposed to call you?"

You shrug. "Everyone calls me Orphanette. So, I guess that works. Hey, you mentioned having an Enclave earlier. What's yours?"

"Sect--I mean, it's not important. You'll never meet them anyway. Look, we know each other's names. Let's ditch this popsicle stand and get to...not-here."

Your mind is made up. You're heading to Riverside. Its heavily-augmented, mostly-criminal population will allow you some cover while you think of a plan. But how do you decide to get there?

> Use the subways and railsystems. Quick, free, and you're covered by heaps of people who are more interested in getting somewhere than who Protectors are looking for.
> Hoof it, ducking in and out of stores and alleys when you think the Anti-Psilon patrol are nearby.
> Do something else.

Use the subways! Also, ask Vahara why she is blindfold.

"Yeah. Let's take the subways to Riverside. We can lie low there." None of you have any money, but that's not an issue; the railsystem is free. The three of you head to the nearest station and get on the train without any incident or Protector action. On the way to Riverside, you decide to ask Vahara about her blindfold.

"You wouldn't understand. Why do you ask so many questions?"

You shrug, then ask another. "Can you at least tell me what you were doing in that transport in the first place? What did you do?"

"Isn't it obvious?" She's going the rhetorical route. "They caught me using Psi. Why would you ask me something so stupid?"

You shake your head, ceasing the questions, for now. That's when you sense it. You feel it. You can tell your new friends feel it to, with Vahara sitting up straight, eyebrows furrowed. A Psionic presence with malicious intent. You don't feel it in as much detail, but you get the general idea: A Psilon on this train isn't happy.

"Someone pursues us", Zhanort mutters.

You arch an eyebrow. "How do you know?"

"I can hear the frontal region of their minds. They speak of the Psilons who escaped Protector custody. Their exact intent is unknown for the moment. They are formidable."

"Wait", you begin. "Why would other Psilons care about escapees unless . . ."

"Psellouts. Disgusting." You find yourself in agreeance with Vahara. If there was one thing in Outropolis that made you feel sick to your stomach, it was Psellouts. Traitorous Psilons who use their powers to aid the very people that persecute them. They deserved to be mindmelted. Every last one of them.

What's the plan?
