A lovely idea. Just don't lose the book. Needless to say, it's one of a kind. I'll examine the cannon. It should be fine, you'd have designed it for easy disassembly due to a lack of a better reloading mechanism. By the time we make it to port, both of us would be done with our respective inquiries into each other's items, I'd assume?

Excellent.

Octavius hands over the book before hefting the cannon.

"She's a little heavy. When not in combat, which you should be in constantly, hold her by the side. It alleviates a bit of the discomfort."

Devan takes the notebook. He returns to his quarters and parses over any scientific chapters, storing the information for later use. He takes several sheets of paper and sticks them in interesting pages, writing on them the reason for book-marking them.

Determine whether the device is compatible with the air compression mechanism in the cannon, and whether the reduction of used space due to removal of redundant parts is significant enough to accommodate reloading in the field

"And I'm a person who understands basic physics and logic.

Don't go swimming with it. Don't go swimming with ANY armor, actually.
"
"I  understood not to swim with it because it's  armor I was able to make this because  I remembered a single conversation of  the town  blacksmith them I closed my eyes and let myself be guided.

"His name was Clement kinda a weird guy in that he'd actually be willing to have me over and talk to  me for a while...he told really nice story's  sometimes watched him work until I fell asleep...it was  comforting the way he worked...somehow quiet but powerfull he made ovens and stuff silverware all my utensils and stuff was thanks to him...he just gave  the stuff for free....he was old and I guess  he  just was a lonely  old guy  who  wanted someone to talk with."

"Huh. Guess I didn't kill him.

Well, regardless, he probably wasn't a real blacksmith if he made suits like.... that.

"Uh no I just used his techniques and let myself go wild the result is sturdy and strong armor if really flashy. His stuff was ussaly extremely practical and efficient."

"Well I guess  a good way to say how I did it was I let well it's  hard to explain I guess  I just let my body guide me I listened to what t wanted and my head started to fill with images and I followed them I listened to my imagination and my creativity  I stayed confident."

"Because if it's practical  or normal it doesn't  work because  well I seem to excel at understanding and making strange things so I used my most abundant resource but something  that'd  be absurd to make armor out of and I let myself or whatever make it.Im good at using unconventional methods"

".... Lemme show you a real set of armor, some day. You'll understand the flaws in your design.

Crazy child-torturer AND an impractical armor designer. That's ANOTHER reason to hate you.
