Turn 55 : Everyone bar the Ashen
Durst the Rock Seer"I don't think I'm getting off. In fact, I'd like to speak to you for a while.
What is your name?"
"My name ? You can call me Mold-Tooth the Brazen Spark. I'm glad you are okay with talking, I felt awkward staying silent actually."
He seems really happy. Then he shouts to his fellows :
"Hey everyone ! Durst is actually okay with speaking !"
They all cheer up and begin loudly speaking among themselves.
"Yeah, we are rather shy in the presence of other species. Ah, so where to begin ? I said we were migrating, toward the sea actually. That's where we go for mating season, and we use a secret passageway through the mountains to get there : an underground river."
You listen closely, unexpectedly undisturbed by any shaking as the sand sharks are moving smoothly on the rough surface.
"Ever seen the sea ? That's like the desert, but with water instead. It's a great place to raise our young because of the abundance of preys. Oh, but I'm not saying it's a safe place either, marine predators are actually worst than the desert's, so we have to stay closely together."
He keeps going on about his family, his life and his small worries. His mate is in the center with the young and the females, and they don't have an offspring yet. He also mentions that the organization of the school of sand sharks greatly changed recently, since the rise of strong-willed individual. All for the better of course.
"The mountain before the river will be our last and most dangerous obstacle. Scouts sighted strange and powerful humanoid monsters in the mountain, three of our brothers died to them. As a result we are on our guard. Oh, and it wasn't like this for the previous migrations, the trip were mostly safe actually."
You then speak to him of your former home, the fact that you don't know much about the world, and your quest. Mold-Tooth is astonished by your incredible story, but sadly tells you that he too doesn't know much about the world. Maybe the chief would know more he says.
[2] After he says that, you realize at least a hour has passed : you are already in the mountains now, more precisely in a wide valley. The sharks are crawling closer than in the desert, and you can feel they are carefully progressing ahead.
And suddenly, roars coming from ahead echoes in the valley. You recognize some sand sharks roars, but you can't identify the others.
"This is an attack. Durst, you will be safe in the center of our group. I must head toward the front."

ZoomochScoomtarto the Four-Eyed BeholderFire Eye#3 Upwards, I might as Well Carve a way out now that I can...
[1] You can feel a new power pulsing from your fourth eye, waiting to get free. You don't waste a second and fire it upward toward the tunnel ceiling.
You lose 4MP
A fiery beam comes out of your eye, emitting a sizzling sound as it melts the rock. You can't see much because of the intense light, so you don't really know if your beam is penetrating deeply or not.
Then the sound of something dislocating is heard, followed by intense rumbling. Before you can react, the unstable portion of cavern breaks down and collapses on you ! Your terrified scream isn't even heard amongst the loud blast.
[4] You lose 5HP
When the collapse stops, you are to your surprise still alive. The weight pressing over you feels lighter than you expected. Actually, you can move a little, there seems to be some space around you.
You are lucky, it looks like the cave-in somehow stopped midway, thus not reducing you into Beholder paste.
But you are trapped right now, this is a bad predicament.

Glint the Elemental Arcanivore and Gray the Metaldee"I'm not gonna be able to hold these maniacs off for much longer, guys. In the interest of our mutual survival, slight change in plans."
Get the others (including T946 and Gray, if they want out), and make use of the distraction I just caused to scram. Bite any hostiles who catch up with us.
Maybe keep an eye on the fighting from a distance. If the humans are successful in killing themselves off, it's possible we could come back and get some essence out of the whole mess.
Follow Glint. Try to drag Vagush with us. If attacked, Harden to protect myself.
Your companions agree that the situation is getting out of hand, and that retreating would be wise for now. Somehow, you realize apart from you and Vagush, your group isn't really composed of seasoned fighters. Two strange blobs, a young Quartzen and two battle-hardened monsters.
There is still the problem of moving Vagush though, he is the strongest and the heaviest of the group.
[3] Thanks to a combined effort, you manage to make the towering insect move. Brown and Gray are using their bodies to wrap around Vagush while you pull all of them. This is better than nothing, and you manage to get a little bit away from all this commotion. You glance at the humans back there.
Mad humans :
[1, 6] Burning with an unnatural rage, the two hunters movements are messy and unpredictable, even for themselves. The one strangling a fellow comrade gets pushed back by a strong punch in the gut, just as the other madman executed a wide slash with his spear to push back his target. The spear tip strikes the head of the man with force, breaking his skull and spilling blood and some pink cerebral matter.
Normal humans :
[2] They realize they can't save their comrade, and decide to end his life before more are hurt.
[1, 4, 6, 1, 6, 5] They all come with their hunting spears on their former friend, and pierce him from all sides. Maybe not the brightest decision in perspective, as amongst the 6 stabs, two misses and hit two persons on the opposite side, while four hits and two of them hits two other persons.
As a result, four humans are hurt trying to end the life of their friend.
You can see the essence glowing from there, but it is too far to be harvested.
The humans shout from where they are, and they lift the corpses and start leaving. They lost too much in this hunt and many of them are wounded, they are not crazy enough to further risk ruining everything.

Your programming shouts you to bring the stunned human to the nearest police station.
[2] Your memory is hazy, words and concepts don't feel like belonging to you. Why did "police station" came up when you meant "guard post" ?
Furthermore, you realize a problem in your intent.
-Must get to nearest guard post or barrack.
-Current location unknown.
-No known close post/barrack/station.
You are bugging and undergoing an existential crisis. What to do if main task can't be completed ? You stay motionless, pondering in front of the unconscious human.

Dahak the Uncanny Unreasonably Spooky Scary Skeleton(Awwwwright)
Wat :v
Dahak is currently experiencing an ambivalent surge of emotions. At first, he's relieved he hasn't been hit in the face by a huge wall of extradimensional noxious snot with the force of a 50 carriages loaded with angry sentient bricks, but he's also a bit dismayed that even said wall of noxious extradimensional snot appears to be either ignoring or avoiding him, and surrounding him, too. Whats with everyone ignoring him lately? Buncha philistines.
This is, uh, unexpected. Its scared except not really?
For a few seconds, he tries to grasp what exactly is happening. Why is the thing avoiding him so precisely? Maybe this thing just happens to be some sort of otherworldy goo contortionist that wants to show its incredible body contortion abilities? Maybe it is incredibly racist toward skeletons? All these thoughts rush by until he realizes HE SHOULD PROBABLY TRY TO DO SOMETHING BECAUSE NOTHING HAS CHANGED
I SHOULD PROBABLY DO SOMETHING BECAUSE NOTHING HAS CHANGED BUT WAT DO???
Dahak decides its time to work harder, not smarter.
This thing is avoiding me for a reason! And since this thing has no actual mind, its probably operating purely on self preservation instinct, which is making this thing avoid me for whatever reason! In conclusion, THIS MEANS ITS TIME TO HUG A SKELETON
Desperately attempt to hug/grab onto the black mass. This is probably a terrible idea, but its not like you have any other options.
Despite the absurdity of the situation, you act quickly and perform a full body hug on the black thing. Upon touching it, the first thought that comes through your mind is "Huh, it's actually kinda soft and comfy".
[4] As you grab it, you can feel a terrible feeling in your chest. You know this feeling, it's the Corruptor Core growing and eating at your own core...
Core Corruption is now 50%
But despite the horrible sensation, you grab it tightly, hoping that something good may happen out of this madness. After all, who knows ?
Your senses warp and seem to be inverting constantly. Your mind and soul appear to be dancing a mix of disco of java, if that's even possible. What is disco and java by the way ?
It culminates with an intense and violent need to puke your heart out, and you take a deep breath to resist it. And suddenly you feel better. You open your eyes, and see only black around you. It doesn't take long for you to realize you are inside the black mass.
At the same moment, knowledge you never had before appear in your mind. This black body appears to you like a puppet of some sort, driven by its lasting instincts. It seems your individuality overrode the weak residues of mind which were left there. You also somehow understand that your Corrupted Core isn't without involvement in this. Yes, that's it...just a puppet longing for a puppeteer.
At first, your reflection reaches two possible outcomes :
-You could try to give order, or even fully control this body. You would run the risk to lose yourself to it of course.
-You could call Nihil and tell him to try controlling this body. He would run the risk to become something different, maybe not an ally anymore.
You are not even sure if those are good ideas, this black thing seems unpredictable. And there may be other solutions.

Caedan the Bloody ImpalerFly closer and take a look at what it's doing. If nothing interesting spotted, go find a village.
[4] You fly closer to the being, who seems to have stopped for some reason. You arrive at a good enough distance to oversee the whole scene : a spooky skeleton is standing in front of the black behemoth.
Then the skeleton embraces the black immenseness, and disappears within. How weird. You wait, and nothing seems to be happening for a whole ten minutes.
So you fly around, while still keeping an eye on the being. It would feel stupid to be suddenly backstabbed by some tendril. You notice a road, it's probably leading to some inhabited settlement.
As for the human army, it is retreating, not wanting to confront the thing anymore. You can see it leaving in a rush, understandably not even bothering to look for survivors.
The black thing still isn't moving.

Take the bear back to lair.
[6] You help Barak carry Bargar back to the lair. With two pair of arms instead of one, carrying the heavy bear is far easier than with one. You reach the lair one hour and a half later, having rushed quite a bit.
You enter the familiar place, and lay Bargar on a pile of leaves. Then Barak suddenly stands up and begin sniffing at the air.
"We...we have been followed !"
You activate your infravision, but don't notice anything out of place. They must not be extremely close then.

"Thanks, it was good to understand more about you... Though I'd better learn dodging if you'll continue to grow even stronger physically. I really don't want to end our great relationship by small yet bloody misunderstanding in the future."
Engage in small talk on various subjects while we seek strong prey. Try to subly investigate what Astrosa likes and dislikes.
[2] Both of you fly around for two hours without noticing any strong being. You check two villages close to Doro, but Astrosa sighs in disappointment at each of them. The sun is beginning to get low in the sky, sunset will probably come in two hours.
You speak casually with Astrosa in the meantime, but at first she doesn't seem so inclined to speaking because of the focus needed for her Eyes. After the two villages though, and after flying Westward for a moment, the frustration and boredom untie her lips and she begins finally answering your questions with a strong hint of frustration.
"Likes and dislikes ? That's not a subject I really thought about. You could say I hate treachery, weakness and narcissistic bastards ? As for likes, well, apart from the exhilarating feeling of battling strong opponents and absorbing their essences, I don't know."
And that's all. It seems Astrosa can be very talkative at moments, and very tight-lipped at others for some reason.
"Ah...what a pity. Where should we go ? Still westward or should we try another village again ? Any idea Ulkas ?"

Traits:
Elder Vampire - Caedan is an elder vampire, and gains all advantages and disadvantages that come from being such a creature. He has matured enough as a vampire to be able to create thralls by feeding someone with his blood. Thralls are intensely loyal to their creator and become more physically capable due to their transformation. They do need to drink their master's blood every now and then, or they will perish. This also means that creating too many thralls may end up badly for the vampire, if he plans to keep them around. If the transformation into a thrall goes awry, it becomes much more like a monster and develops an intense craving for flesh
Night Vision - Caedan, as a vampire, sees perfectly well in the darkness. (unless all vampires come with this included, in which case replace this with Mesmerizing Eyes - Anyone staring too long into Caedan's eyes will sooner or later find themselves unable to resist his commands.)
Creature of the Night - Caedan becomes much stronger during the night, in addition to being harder to see.
Levitation - Caedan gains the ability to levitate and fly. Rather early for a vampire. Is it a sign of greatness? Or is it a mark of damnation?
Mesmerizing Eyes - Anyone who looks into Caedan's eyes for too long will end up unable to look away and become extremely vulnerable to suggestion, unable to resist most commands.
Skills:
Blood Metabolism - Drinking blood rejuvenates vampires.
Blood Boil - A spell that increases the victim's blood temperature to extremely high levels, effectively boiling/melting them alive.
Mist Form - Caedan can change into mist, allowing him to pass through things like barred windows and other such things. Changing into mist also lets him hide his presence in the right area, unless whoever he's hiding away from can detect him by magic or a different ability. He can also use it to nearly completely evade physical attacks.
Blood of the Impaler - This is the spell Caedan uses when he needs something dead so badly that he doesn't care if he spills blood. It creates a field of sharp spikes made of what looks to be crystallized blood. The spell is designed to be hard to dodge due to the sheer amount of spikes coming out of the ground. It also works pretty well against groups.
