So, new assistant manager quit, manager promptly quit too when he realized he'd have to work even more open-to-close shifts to compensate, middle management comes down and promises all sorts of 'everything will get better' and 'he just wasn't the right one for the job' (he was actually doing amazing considering how fucked everything is, I blame the company fully) and additionally promises, specifically, no more scheduling bullshit like closing at 10pm and then opening at 6am. And then, I look at my schedule after getting off work at 10pm... and they want me to open at 6. As per usual. Literally just called me earlier to brag about how she made sure the schedule is all good for the next two weeks (another thing I asked for; advance notice and consistent days every week. Not gonna happen...)

I fucking hate this place. Please, somebody answer my goddamn job applications

Tried to go to the bathroom at work. First stall, the toilet was clogged with shit, I wasn't going to deal with that. Tried going to the other one, but the other guy who was in the bathroom with me literally pulled me out of the stall so he could go in. He may have been there to fix the wall or toilet, I don't know and I wasn't going to start something about it.

This isn't "the thing" that happened to me today, it is merely a representation of how my entire day went.

EDIT: Reviewing my account balance compared to last year, my finances have dropped about $1,000 compared to the end of last January. Reason: medical bills. I'd have come out ahead from last year's medical expenses, but I had another colonoscopy the other day*, the bill of which is sending me back.

I'd probably break even from my tax return, but I'd say that is counting my eggs before I throw them against the wall.

However: Next session got delayed indefinitely because there's drama between some of my players, which could potentially rip apart a friendship of 12+ years if it goes south, and I might be the only/best person to try and mediate this ordeal so that things can get repaired...

Aaaand they did not manage to repair things. Now these best friends of over a decade are no longer speaking to each other, and we're having to go through the rigors of working out custody of the campaign.

It's extra weird as one of the people leaving is part of the original three who first played in the one-shot that expanded into this mess of a campaign, and got me into DMing for the first time.

I don't know why, but my nightly sleep time has settled at 2AM... And I need to groggily drag my stupid ass out of bed every morning at 10AM for work, after my alarms have been blaring for nearly an hour nonstop.

The only reason I can think of as to why I keep goofing off until 2AM every night until I have to Do-or-Die fall-to-sleep is that I'm stupid as fuck.

A forumite  (from another forum) has probably passed ( I don't know!), it's just likely I will not interact with them again. And honestly, I don't know how I feel about it.

It happens, unfortunately. People here exist in a weird space because we're not really interacting in person much at all (There are a few exceptions) nor do we see each other over video, or often even over voice, so there's a degree of unreality to the other people on this forum. It's sad you'll never hear from them, but it's not the same as if, say, a friend you know IRL dies.

This applies further than B12, it's a thing about most any online community that's almost entirely based on text. You're dealing with the usual sadness with this level of unreality layered on top so it's going to feel kind of confusing.

Always makes you wonder about how many of the posters that no longer post may no longer be around.

I guess... yeah.

It is a thing with Facebook. Alot of users are just dead. Profiles frozen in time, like a gigantic online graveyard. It is scary.

Will we also end up like that, Zultan? Just small markings, a bunch of digital letters on this ancient tapestry we call the Internet?

Got my lease renewal a few weeks ago. They're raising my rent, again. Every year since I moved here 4 years ago.

In that time, my rent has gone up 20%. 800sq ft one bedroom in the most affordable place in the US officially costs over $1000/month.

Drain the middle class just enough so they can never get any further ahead and watch everyone below middle class melt.

Possibly if the forum continues to exist for long enough we will.

No actual panic attack, but I almost had one. Heart started going and I got the weird feeling I get up in my chest when I'm anxious.

Luckily the breathing exercises worked, but it still sucked and has left me tired again. And another missed lecture because it was going on as I was headed out to it.

Rebuilt my laptop while I was gone and apparently while I was reassembling the thing I accidentally over tightened a screw and punched it through the power jack which blocked the cord going in all the way, luckily the plug as plastic on the end otherwise it would have fried everything because the screw in question was attached to the metal frame.

And sense there's a chance that even if I unscrewed it slightly it could still touch the plug and fry the computer I'm gonna have to buy a new jack, meaning the computer will be down another week while I wait for it to arrive, which sucks because I've run out of non-computer stuff to do.

My wife, daughter, and I were playing outside a supermarket, there were a few restaurants around. My daughter found a girl from one of these and they started to play. The girl's probably 3ish? Anyway, at some point they decide to run around the nearby supermarket. My wife stops them and asks the mom if it's alright, she, not looking up from her phone, nods and gives an affirmative noise.

About ten minutes later, we come back, the mother screams at her daughter for running off,
Spoiler: cw child abuse (click to show/hide)
And refuses to look at us. We explain that we had told her where we were, and that we'd been watching the kid as she had apparently completely ignored her and us. We all wait for the father to come down (he ran off looking for the kid apparently) and he apologizes for the misunderstanding, without himself, knowing what happened at all. We fill him in as the mother seethes a few feet away and the kid glues herself to her dad. Christ.

Flat boiler's fucked, they're going to try and fix it come Monday. If that works, fine, if not I'm gonna be chasing them up for a rent rebate.
