"Supplies to Kalisz? What do they need this much ammo for? The plan is to head west, so if you have information on this area's situation I'd like you to share it, so we can all stay safe."

"Kalisz still has most of two armys there.
It needs regular shipments of bread and bullets for the many men there.

We are here, (she taps the map) 36km south of Konin and we are mostly trapped.
To the north is the river Warta, a lot of the bridges are broken, the one out side of Sieradz is still standing but the rest of them?

To the north is the 89th Soviet Cavalry on the other side of the river.
Lodz is to the east, full of rear staff and pen pushers."

Lilya  heads off to cut up some wood.

"Aaron - help us with the wood gathering, imagine the still will need a lot of fuel."

He then looked to Harry as he motioned to the Humvee. "Take a look at the Humvee and see if you can see any easy repairs. It's banged up and I'd rather not have to leave it on the side of the road with the amount of gear we're carrying. If you need an extra set of hands let me know and I'll move Aaron to you."

With everyone now assigned a task, The Captain went to assist with the wood gathering.

Harry and Arron nod and head off to do their respective tasks.

Harry spends four hours working on the HMMWV in an effort to make it slightly less prone to breakdowns. He also mounts the M60 on it.
(breakdowns on a 8 or less instead of a 10 or less)

The wood gathering team of Aaron, Lilya, and Marshal manage to gather and prepare roughly 300kg of plant material for the still and start it cooking. While heading about they manage to spot a small village to the north west of the group.

Alan and Wallace start carefully heading south through the woods. After roughly 40min they reach the edge and take a look out, spotting a group of people in a pickup truck at a range of just over two kilometers.

Alan makes sure Wallace is hidden, then takes his magnifier to look at the group. He takes in the basics first - count, travel direction, speed, uniforms, weapons then looks for radio antennas.

Sitting behind foliage, Wallace patiently scans the rear and flanks of their position.

-complete edit-

From what Alan can tell, there are four individuals in what looks like a landrover following a dirt road, heading north-north west at roughly 50kmph. They dont appear to have noticed Alan and Wallace, and appear to be armed with civilian-grade weapons.

There also appears to be something in the rear of the vehicle covered with a tarp.

The vehicle is currently almost two kilometers away, but the road gets to within 275 meters of their current position. They will probably be able to see Alan and co. at that point.

Wallace creeps up forward next to Alan. His brown eyes follow the truck far off in the distance.

"What it look like, Colonel?" The CPO asks. "Is it coming our way?"

The Captain admired the pile of wood with a satisfied nod "This should probably be enough for maybe 4 days. We may want to grab a bit more later, but it's good for now."

Looking over at the Humvee for inspection he gave Harry a thumbs up, "I like the addition" he said with a grin as he nodded towards the M60 that now sat on top of it.

After checking on the still one more time he looked around the camp, "I guess I should have asked how long the Colonel and Wallace would be out. Anyone know if they took a radio with them?"

"One off-roader, four people," Alan answers. "Call it in, Chief, then we'll hide." He's already looking for cover, slowly moving towards a fallen tree. "I'd rather we don't get seen. We don't know who they are, or what they want."

"I'll try, but we're probably out of range." Wallace says. He picks up his hand radio and tries to call in. The SEAL gets nothing. He walks about 60 meters away from the tree line in hopes of getting just in range of base. After a minute or two without success, Wallace turns off his radio and lays prone on the forest floor.

The more Wallace watches the vehicle, the more he is convinced that they are smugglers of one sort or another, and are unlikely to be hostile. Also, the vehicle is one that was lifted from the Polish army at some point, and is not a landrover.

The prone Wallace grabs his radio and calls Alan.

"I think they're smugglers. Should we risk contact?"

"I'd rather not," Alan answers. "If they're smugglers, they're going to want to protect their route - and I don't want to risk having to run away. Again." He shrugs. "Your opinion, Chief?"
