And hey unlike Boba Fett this guy actually did something

OOOH SHOTS FIRED FASTER THAN GREEDO

Wouldn't be hard, Greedo didn't get a shot off!

What exactly did TR-8R do, anyway? Beat an untrained lightsaber user? Well done!

Well he's a lot better at beating untrained lightsaber users than Kylo Ren is!  ;)

Too easy.

I know. That was one bit that really annoyed me. Makes Kylo Ren seem... Pointless as a baddie: has trouble with Finn, who (presumably) isn't even a Jedi, and then gets beat by Rey, who hasn't even had any training yet!

Lightsabers seem to have been nerfed, too. Lots of touching (Finn getting slashed down the back!) yet nothing gets lopped off or anything like that. Buzzkill, Disney; thanks.

Kylo Ren was injured. Remember Chewbacca shot him with his crossbow-blaster thing.

And? Finn worked in sanitation. Rey was a scavenger. Not much fighting in toilets and junk piles, I imagine :P

I can't remember if he used the Force at all during those fights either...

There are theories that Rey was trained by Luke on Jakku, but when Kylo Ren slaughtered all of them, he left rey alive but wiped her mind. (possibly due to some sibling connection) so rey was actually trained.

EDIT: Also, Kylo Ren wasn't finished with his training. Since Snoke wanted him to come back and finish.

Theories which are yet to be confirmed by Disney :P so I reject it 'til later. You had one wee scene of child Rey screaming at something from which you can't draw any decent conclusions, beyond abandonment in Jakku.

That's another thing that bothered me about the movie: it seems to be trying to set things up for the next ones, so nothing was really resolved or explained in this one.

Yep. That's how movies work. We all got to deal with it.

Well, I just got back from seeing this. Didn't have high expectations, but at least I wasn't disappointed.

And yeah, Han's son (who is apparently called Kylo Ren, thanks, I didn't hear his name properly) getting severely wounded by an untrained guy in a lightsaber duel seemed pretty dang stupid to me. Even if the guy wasn't fully trained nor the most competent of lightsaber-swingers (are they still called Sith these days or what?) he had supposedly received plentiful training in that area.

I have to say, my favourite moment of the film was probably where the two stormtroopers walk around a corner, hear Ren chucking a tantrum in a room up ahead and turn back the way they came. That was brilliant. I can't quite put my finger on why, but it really seemed to sum things up perfectly. It was a human touch as well, which it was nice to see a few of in the film.

Ep. IV wasn't like that.. Though maybe Lucas wasn't expecting a decades long movie series from it.

Maybe Force Awakens is just going to be another Phantom Menace in how it's viewed by the fans.

Apparently the best viewing order for the previous ones are IV, V, II, III, VI, as Episode I doesn't really add anything to... anything.

Now, I don't think the movie was amazing or anything, but I certainly liked it more than the previous films.
Sacrilege, perhaps- but then I was never a big fan of 'em anyway.

This one still had plenty of the bullshit that I always hate in films, but it had a fair few good moments, too, far more than I expected. :)

Actually, his name is Ben Solo. He's just trying to be edgy and adpoted some other name that sounds more menancing, and Ren is basically a new suffix instead of old Darth prefix, because nowadays they're called Knights of Ren. Or something.

Word is he tried to go for Max Power, but it was already taken so he had to settle with the next one on his list.
