Day 1

The North Pole
International Seabed Authority-administrated territory

To the international team of 16 scientists gathered near the North Pole, the day felt colder than usual.  Few dared to venture outside the research facility, fearing frostbite or worse.  Even the murres hid inside the facility, trying to avoid the weather.

The scientists had a guest.  Apparently, the Secretary General wanted them to work with this man for a bit.  Odd man.  Big, pudgy, jolly, and he always dressed up as a Canadian Supreme Court justice.  He was given a room of his own for the week.  On this coldest of days, he was murdered.  Stabbed to death in his own room, with three knives left sticking out of his body.  Three knives, three murderers.

His death had to be avenged.

Cue dramatic music.

Three mafia.  Should have been more clear.  Aside from that, flavour does not matter.

Also, as of this time, the International Seabed Authority does have authority over the North Pole and much surrounding territory.  There is a claims process ongoing for the seabed of the area, but that won't be resolved for some time.  It does, also, get cold in the Arctic.
