And men don't? It'll atleast make attacking and occuping a nations farmlands more worthwhile if they don't have resources.

This is true. Then my stance is reversed, horses would work well for manpower, as a number mature monthly (fixed for each province), however that wouldn't make any sense for armored cars which would have to be produced (or sometimes jerry-rigged for insurgents and the like.)

Also, mechanised units are pretty much armored car.

Well, until you research a higher level of light tank, motorized groups are slowed down a fair deal by them. I can also see armored cars being required by, say, MP and recon companies. From what I can figure out by looking at their stats, motorized units are just dudes riding in a truck, fighting the same as normal infantry. Other than slight increases in weight, supply consumption and manpower(they have 20% extra dudes) they are identical.

False?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mechanized_infantry#World_War_II

Mechanized Infantry are basically any infantry with APC/IFVs that could integrate with armored battalions (and vice versa.) Armored cars are their own thing, and probably fit better under motorized. Even then, armored cars didn't really exist on an operational level, mostly attached to other units as command or reconnaissance vehicles. They could work nicely as an integrated support option though.

They never really fielded armoured cars enmasse though did they? It was more of personal mobility/communication thing for officers wasn't it? There might have been rare cases, but not at a regular operational level.

I sort of assume mechanized infantry does have them, they're just not listed. Everything upward of lieutenant probably isn't riding in the truck alongside the grunts (or for higher officers). Recon companies may have a couple, but they're more under "equipment" than "vehicles". It's not like your transporting 1000s of men in them, just a few, so they don't get a separate listing. The abstraction is fine.

It's not terribly clear (without further digging) where armored cars WERE most prevalent, but it seems most likely that they acted as reconnaissance mainly for armored divisions or as support in areas like North Africa. The US probably made pretty wide use of Greyhounds in their late-war mechanized divisions.

Reconnaissance was another major use, as far as I can determine, as well as command and control which you describe.  They were also used in convoy escort duties in North Africa to keep trucks safe, since the RAF in the Middle East happened to have some old ACs that dated back to 1914-1915, and Wavell found all sorts of uses for the things. They served well in a flanking or support role with tank units; a squadron of M8s was able to outflank and take out a Tiger I during the Battle of the Bulge.  Finally, other duties could include towing artillery, though this was not typical of all armored cars and would likely be included in artillery in either case.

EDIT: Ah, as above.

I haven't yet (though I'd like to) but it does present a lot of interesting opportunities for MP... I'd definitely like to embark on a Belgian-Dutch Eurasiafrica domination run... and a bunch of possible Sea-domination runs.

Paradox had a three day multiplayer event with people like quill18 and arumba playing the major powers. I watched a little bit of it and its was pretty neat watching it, especially them proxy fighting the Spanish civil war.

I had a major powers only multiplayer game recently, and it was a lot of fun. Axis lost, but MVP was definitely AI facist Greece that somehow produced as many divisions as Italy. It helps to have good house rules though.

I've been thinking of getting the game just for multiplayer.  The AI is not good enough to be an interesting opponent in single player, judging from what people have said about the game.

After watching people play on youtube, it looks like the game is basically a WW2 themed free for all that goes extremely ahistorical very quickly, which might be amusing multiplayer.

What kind of house rules would you suggest?
