Flipping the folder open you find a handful of papers, and a somewhat low resolution picture of a freighter with a gaping hole in the back where engines should be. Pushing the picture to the side you start reading through what little Macnameer was actually willing to give you on the subject of the Freighter, which turns out to be little when you find they've labelled the ship's goods as 'Various Items of Worth' before getting to the point. Salvage is required on the ship's generator, flight black-box, and any remaining cargo leaving you the remainder of the ship to strip for parts and extra funding. Macnameer is willing to pay 10,000 credits for the recovery of these objects along with purchasing any of the salvage that you can't make use of though the purchase offer is more of an order if you want to keep making money on-board the ship ...

Dio spent most of his time fidgeting in his chair, staring at the walls and ceiling with a split sense of wonder and confusion. He had expected halls of gold and pearly arches built by the people of the stars, not the strict, utilitarian look of a modern office setting. Then again, the people before him seemed human enough. Perhaps the men of Dio's time were cursed somehow.

He decided to take a closer look at the papers left by the bizzarely-dressed woman, picking up the one on 'Settler Pirate Incident Reclamation.'
The choice was mostly random--he could hardly read the local language, and while his reader could transcribe the words quickly enough, it was still a hassle to point his watch  around whilst simultaneously reading the words off the screen.

Dio typed some text and asked, "What do you think about this one?" before sliding the open folder across the table to the others.

Neil partly rose so he could stretch across and offer everyone his hand, examining their faces as he did so.

“Aurelius. Security specialist. I’d suggest we take something that looks relatively straight forward as our first run together – give us a chance to assess our and our ship’s capabilities.”

He sat back down, hand loosely searching for the stock of the shotgun he’d considered impolitic to bring in to this first business meeting.

“Nothing like a crisis to build a strong team, mind…”

His hand found what it was after.

“Mr Thompson. Does Macnameer have any expectations with regards to the organisation of their contracted crews?”

"Not at all, Neil, and I'm glad you asked. My job here as the go-between means that I watch out for any sensitive situations, handle any troublesome affairs and make sure the rules are being followed - which, you must admit, are fairly loose. Perhaps sometimes remind you all that there is always work to be done in Macnameer. Nothing too horrible, haha," Neal replies, tacking on a slightly forced, but largely nervous chuckle at the end there.

Stand by and observe as the others check out the job offerings. Be prepared to offer helpful advice from the Macnameer Manual.

Tobias glanced at the other Tobias. "...Tobias Kavanagh. I suppose you can just call me TK and him Trent to avoid confusion." He looked at the dossiers. "I'm only here to protect the rest of you and make sure you know how to defend yourselves. I'll leave the decision-making to people who want that responsibility."

Also check out remaining customs dossier. Give Harold a call if possible, or try to arrange a quick visit to him before deciding - does he know anything about a missing customs vessel, and would 100 credits help him know? Discreetly, of course.

To TK, whilst reading the file, "To protect us? I like the sound of that." The older man looks Tobias up and down. "Nice looking blade you have, Kavanagh. Unusual. What you in all this for, exactly?"

Settler Pirate Incident Reclamation
Pulling the third file over you quickly notice a red stamp across the top 'POTENTIAL HIGH RISK OPERATION'. Well ... that doesn't exactly bode well ... Ignoring the stamp you flip the folder open to find a sheaf of paper and quite a few pictures of shipwrecks, all of which look commercial in origins without anything that looks like it'd be a pirate vessel. The actual report is rather bare bones despite it size, and most of it appears to be legal jargon declaring that salvage from this wreck is the property of the Union of Mankind and the Protectorate of Calmar.

What little of use there is from the report lists that most of the damage to the ships appear to be from impact damage, and preliminary investigations from a law enforcement vessel show no signs of life left aboard any of the ships. Your job is to salvage the generators from all four destroyed space craft along with claiming the flight black box for examination by UM personnel, any salvage outside of that will be purchase by the UM through the Macnameer Corp.

Payment: 40,000 Credits minimum
Reclamation Objective: All wrecked vessel power generators and flight black boxes
Priority: Medium, must be completed within a month.

Calmar Customs Vessel Reclamation
Flipping open the Customs Vessel dossier you find a complete lack of a photo, and a single sheet of paper describing the job with the payment amount at the bottom. The job is to reclaim the armory compartment of a destroyed Customs Vessel, a compartment that the paper is rather upfront about telling you to not open, and then return it to the Customs station in orbit. The rest of the ship is free for you to strip for parts, apparently all Calmar Law Enforcement really wants is its weapons back.

Payment: 15,000 Credits + salvage
Reclamation Objective: The Armory Compartment, unopened.
Priority: Urgent, must be finished within the week

You excuse yourself for a moment before pulling your comm terminal out, and pulling up a contact for one of your few remaining friends on the force, a Customs officer called Harold. The phone rings for a moment before a gruff voice finally answers,

"Ah, Neil you lucky bastard, didn't think I'd be getting a call from you so soon after you left the force. What can I do for you?"

When you inform him of the Customs contract he seems interested as he replies,

"Alright, mate if you take that job I need you to do me a favor. You can drop off that armory compartment at any Customs checkpoint at the port, but if you take the job I want you to give me a call when you're coming into the port. I'll give you the bay where I'm stationed that day, and you can drop it off with me. I'll pay you a thousand credits, but I need that armory to come through my bay. How about it?"

"Sounds a reasonable request. Look, you know if there's any risk involved in this? Anything we should know that perhaps we've not been told? We'll take it anyway, but I don't want to lose anyone on our first job, right?"

"There's no real risk, at least from what I've heard that wreck is left over from when three Customs vessels were called out to take down a new pirate ship that's been harassing the system. Whatever the pirate is their ship got banged up real good from the engagement, so it's unlikely they'll be hanging around waiting for another Customs vessel to come by, and finish them off."

Coming back to the group...

"Right, everyone. If it's all the same with you I'd like us to take the customs job. It needs to be done first; it looks pretty low risk; and it's gonna get us in the good books with customs, who I'd guess we're gonna be dealing with a lot in the future. That can't hurt and will only ease business for us and for Macnameer. Then we can listen to other preferences for our next job, okay? Any objections?"

At Neil's return, he nodded. reaching slender fingers for the folder, he plucked it away and scanned it himself before placing it back on the table.

"It seems fair enough to me, perfectly acceptable... as long as we don't run into any pirates. The weaponry on this ship isn't most suited for ship warfare, no, not well suited. Should be good salvage on a Customs ship, even on - even a wreck."

Dio tapped his fingers on the table, reading his watch.

"Yes, Customs is reasonable... let's see what we can salvage from that one before we look at the rest."

"So, Neil, think you're up for the spot of captain? It's a formality, certainly, but I personally feel we should designate one and you seem like the candidate with the most initiative."
