Current applicants
Note: This is not saying 'These people are in'.

Alright, not a lot here yet but I wanna go over what I've got so far for any errors. Darren
Doing an Oath of Ancients paladin, since it seems to fit pretty well with the lore.

Backstory
I'd rather not take the standard equipment; can I take the average gold instead?
In the meantime, sheet.
I think I'll give this a try.

Here is the mostly complete mechanical portion of my sheet. This will be my first attempt at a 5e character, so let me know if I am missing anything or have made any mistakes. I'm too tired to type an in-depth backstory right now, but I got one kicking around in my head and will throw it up this weekend.
muh sheet
Sheet is kind of done. What are the overland speeds?

Everything alright?
And I'm finally done. In the nick of time too it seems.

Most of the humor is gone now but I think I have a very interesting character. Hopefully I didn't make any mistakes.

(also, read both the description and the contacts/friends section)

EDIT: fixed spelling error

Umm, I'm really starting to get nervous that my backstory is rather...short.  :(

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

It's okay if it's the healbot.

I imagine it as the orc either not having armor or having broken armor, and the pitchfork hitting a vital spot.

We all agree your origin story is a bit overdone, but it fits perfectly in with your character background-it's more of a folk legend than an autobiography. I ASSUME that's what you were going for!

You have to convince Gig to accept you too, though...

Alright. Lets get some backstory up for my Character:

I think this is more than acceptable. Nepotism ftw. :P Also, I've always wanted to see how good Monks are in 5th edition.

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

It was written by a bard, so its not an autobiography  :P
so it was exaggerated in some points.

I said it because you quoted me, but what you said sounded like it was directed at PrivateNomad.

Lol. Having just read a Monk guide, it has dawned on me that I have picked one of the worst races for Monk in the game, so this might not be the best character to find out with.

...I miss Pathfinder where Half Orcs can just put +2 to whatever ability score they want.

Honestly, with 5e I've found that you have to actively try to make a character that's broken as opposed to just slightly off optimised. Half-orc monk should be fine :P

Also, since I see no real complaints, can I assume the mechanics on my sheet are fine?

Just fill in your saves+skills. Remember, if you are proficient in them add your proficiency bonus.
