She scribbles a note that is addressed to "Future Alanis" and hands it to Evridiki, before slipping into a VR pod and pulling the helmet down.

"That's my reminder, just in case."

[Powder Miner]

"This is NOT a fucking illusion, though. While you were sitting in that machine, I was here. In fact, I was watching you in the machine and pulled you out. I'll tell you right the fuck now, I'm no made-up person, I existed long without you, which pretty well precludes you from being in any sort of other machine or simulation-- oh hell no."
She immediately walks on over and rips the helmet off.

[SOLDIER First]

"What happened to you? I just...lived my life."

".....I can't remember.
It was probably better than the wastelands.
H-Hey, let her use the machine if she wants.."

"We don't have time for identity crises left and fucking right. We are here for a reason. We have a mission."

"If you'll excuse me, I want to try this, thank you.  If I'm not out in thirty, kill it.

I'm going in informed, forewarned, with no current goal and with plenty of prior roleplaying experience.  I will be fine.  Besides, I already know everything's a story."

She pulls the helmet back down.

"Nothing happened to me or Penelope, so it might not happen to her either...
Wait, everything's what?"

"No, this isn't real. But it is. What I'm realizing is that...it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter whether it's real or not, whether these 'people' need saving. You can't prove anything any one way or another."

"That's why Alanis is foolish. Because her pursuit is fruitless."

Surroundings check, then see if there's anywhere that would overlook the battle Victoria was just in.

Alanis is in the menu.  She checks to make sure she can get out of the game if she wants.

"Wilson, you are not okay. She said something happened to you. What happened?"

Penelope looks at Aesford suddenly.
"No....of course it matters."

Evridiki listens to infuriating words from Alanis, Aesford, AND Wilson, and pinches her nose, exhaling loudly and aggravatedly. But after a while she decides to turn to Aesford, deciding that talking to him is more important.
"Roleplaying experience? Is she for fucking real...? Anyway, Aesford, are you some kind of five-thaler-store nihilist now?"

[SOLDIER First]

One might wonder why Evridiki would walk back and forth from the shooting range and the VR area to have a conversation with everyone at once.

"Like I said, it doesn't matter. Don't take me for some punk ass 19 year old trying to impress people in a college party, I never said it doesn't matter to me. But in of itself, it doesn't matter."
Alanis is greeted with a black screen and some text.

The base is still being fortified for defense. Victoria could go check out where she was last, but since she now lacks a jetpack and all the vehicles have been taken, it will take a considerably longer time.
