As the water was processed, it began to undergo an accidental process of super compression due to the precise gravity and the petrification. What they end up getting was a super concentrated frozen ball of heavy water, which is useless unless you were wanting to kill a person with a hunk of ice.

On a high note, the Heavy Ice appears to be super resistant to heat. It even seems like it's partially malleable. Could be weaved into armor, if you don't mind the excess cold it's producing.
