I already thought of an explanation anyway, just to shut Emp up.

1. The strongest ones were co-opted already by the Multiverse directly. The mission is just to get another batch.
2. Only a small number of players are going on this (compensated by people playing their dead characters, even unstatted). The number of people you can bring with you is limited as you need a small group.
3. There are other groups going to collect the dead.
4. You have a time limit and if you don't keep to it, you get horribly killed by what are more or less the robot guard dogs of Hell. Even then, you will get chased down by said guard dogs if you stay too long.
5. Other characters may simply just not WANT to come back. Or can't. ItE's friends were devoured by Trespassers, for instance, and so no longer exist. Some may be staying to fight off the Trespasser threat from the afterlife.

Have I properly sated the anti-cheesing requirement (which I wouldn't have had to put in in the first place had it not even been pointed out)?

I am pointing this out, because I consider the risks that someone will try regardless of whether or not I say it anyway are high enough to point it out. Not because it sounds like it would ever work, but rather because it may be in their character to try, and that it is therefore something to plan for. I mean there are at least two characters with numerous fallen compatriots and one of them already went off on a tirade about their loss earlier on.

Allow me to repeat: I do not believe this will be done, it is blatantly obvious it will never be allowed. I do not believe there is any argument that forces this to be done either, because most of the details on the process are completely unknown. What I do believe is that it is in-character for some to try, and that therefore it something to limit.

It, after all, would make for quite an good RP opportunity, characters realizing that they can't save everyone and I would argue that just ignoring it rather than allowing those to chase ultimately futile attempts at revival could be wasting a good chance for character development.

Okay, so innately souless beings won't be there, right? Just confirming because in my current writeup for Delacroix's world, souls do not exist.

This would not be the FIRST time, nor will it be the last that my skills somehow sequence break and have to be ignored to keep the plot on the rails, it is better to make absolutely sure beforehand, instead of assuming and being wrong.  A bit meta, I know, but it saves everyone involved a lot of heartache.

Besides, Nix's Tear specifically states stuff to do with souls, so I would be like 0-999 in terms of failed skills if I ignored my own flavor.

Shouldn't be an issue. The Perk saves possessed beings from assimilation and oblivion, so it probably won't just be at risk of ripping souls out of the afterlife.

Well, the method is that it extracts the essence of the possessor being, like an emergency escape pod, since exorcising the trespassers can fail. The essence grows into a full soul, soulless beings are by definition lacking that essence.

It takes the spirit out of the caustic body, and uses part of Dackly's soul to let it grow back to full size and hopefully recover anything that was lost.
