It's not any action. It's only Magical Actions that Aren't basic. Basics can't be locked. Magical, Ranged, and Melee actions can. Hence why Basic Actions are a thing.

I've consolidated all of them below with a few new ones as well. Their names link to what they were inspired by, and all of them have been fluffed with the mechanical effects bolded. I've added additional rebalanced versions for ones that were rejected by Elf. I'll probably add more to this repository if I get any more ideas.

Spoiler: Possible Actions (click to show/hide)

• Arcane Shell (Active): A modified Kinetic Shell spell that wreathes a ranged or magical attack in magic, doubling its damage. 1 Turn Cooldown.
  
• Overwhelming Magic (Active): Infuses a ranged or magical attack with irresistible power, allowing it to bypass all resistances. 1 Turn Cooldown.
  
  • v1.1: Infuses a ranged or magical attack with immense power, changing its damage type to Pure. 1 Turn Cooldown.
• Arcane Presence (Passive): Alanis' innate power begins to twist reality, rendering the very laws of physics hostile to her foes. Each turn, all foes take Pure damage that scales with SYN.
  
  • v2.0: Alanis' innate power begins to twist reality, rendering the very laws of physics hostile to her foes. Each turn, all foes take Pure damage that scales with the level of the action.
  • v2.1: Alanis' innate power begins to twist reality, rendering the very laws of physics hostile to her foes. Each turn, all foes take Magical damage that scales with the level of the action.
• Burning Prison (Active): Alanis infuses her next magical attack with unstable magic, inflicting a status ailment that deals Magical damage which scales with the level of the action each time the victim acts.
  
• Spilled Essence (Passive): Alanis' blood is infused with magic, all SYN-based actions get a bonus proportional to the amount of health Alanis has lost the previous turn. This will function even if the damage has incapacitated Alanis.
  
• Reactive Armor (Passive): When an attack breaks a Kinetic Shell, the bursting spell is reformed into a surge of magic, striking the foe who broke it with a Kinetic Slam.
  
• Essence Storm (Active): Limit Break. Using the magic in her own spilled blood, Alanis performs one final spell with a high SYN buff. This may only be performed when she is rendered Unconscious, and can only be used once per battle.
  
  • v2.0: Limit Break. Desperate to assist, even in her wounded state, Alanis uses the magic in her own spilled blood to perform one final spell with a high SYN buff. This may only be performed when she is Stabilized, and can only be used once per battle.
• Parting Shot (Passive): Limit Break. Arcane power erupts from Alanis, powering a final, vindictive spell. When she is rendered Unconscious, the foe responsible is inflicted with a severe impairment. This may only be used once per battle.
  
• Gratitude (Passive): Limit Break. As thanks, Alanis imbues her rescuer with her remaining arcane power. When Alanis is Stabilized, her rescuer gains a large SYN bonus. This may only be used once per battle.
  
• Preemptive Counter (Active): Alanis uses Magesight to target a single foe. Should they use a Magical attack this turn, Alanis rapidly reverse-engineers it and fires her copy of their own spell at them before they themselves have even finished casting. The copied attack is still performed. 1 Turn Cooldown.
  
• Chimeric Bolt (Active): Using advanced metamagic, condense all the Magical attacks performed by the party this turn into a single attack aimed at a single foe. 5 Turn Cooldown.
  
  • v1.2a: Limit Break. Using advanced metamagic, condense all the Magical attacks performed by the party this turn into a single attack aimed at a single foe. This may only be used once per battle.
  • v1.2b: Using advanced metamagic, condense all the Magical attacks performed by the party this turn into a single attack aimed at a single foe. All non-damage effects are lost. 5 Turn Cooldown.
• Last Stand (Passive): Turns out the emotional stress from watching her comrades fall in battle does wonders with unleashing Alanis' latent power. Alanis gains a significant boost to SYN for each party member removed from battle.
  
  • v2.0: Turns out the emotional stress from watching her comrades fall in battle does wonders with unleashing Alanis' latent power. Untapped Potential's gain rate increases each party member removed from battle.
• Adrenaline (Passive): "The only chance of life lies in giving up all hope of it." Untapped Potential's gain rate is increased if Alanis is critical, debuffed, or afflicted with a status ailment.
  
• Equipment Burst (Active): With the owner's permission overload a piece of equipment with magic, magnifying its effects. When the effect ends, the piece of equipment is destroyed, leaving nothing behind. This cannot be used on innate equipment such as Auras.
  
• Zentol (Active): A strange word that somehow found its way into Alanis' grimoire. Invoking it inflicts a powerful curse upon a foe, at a cost. This action starts at level 0, and levels up each time it is used. Its power is unaffected by its level. Alanis permanently dies immediately if it reaches level 8.
  
• Enchantment Compatibility (Passive) Alanis' magical power leaks into her equipment powering them up. Increases the stat bonuses conferred by magical equipment.
  
• Assualt Armor (Free Action) A trick that requires a Kinetic Shell to work. Alanis pumps a damaging spell into it, destroying the Kinetic Shell, in a magical detonation. The spell used deals increased damage and is considered a Melee Area of Effect.
  
• Smothered Mate (Passive): When attacking an enemy at low health, Alanis hijacks its magical resistances against it, making its RES increase damage taken from her attack instead. Leveling up this action raises the activation threshold.
  
• Potentially Yandere (Passive): Alanis doesn't take kindly to foes attacking her love interest. Her attacks become more powerful if she is targeting a foe who damaged It The Embraces the previous turn. Every time this is leveled up, the boost is increased and the adjective increases in certainty.
  
• Moar Magic (Passive): Of course the magician would have a lot of magic, add the level of this action to Alanis' SYN.
  
• The Burning Veil That Heralds Judgement (Active): Limit Break. Combination Attack. Can only be used once per battle, and requires It That Embraces to be present. Alanis uses her magic to tear reality asunder and keep the wound open, allowing more of It That Embraces' influence to flow though. For the duration of this effect, Alanis will be unable to act, while It That Embraces gains a considerable boost in power. All current SYN bonuses from Untapped Potential are lost due to exhaustion. This effect will end early if either Alanis or It That Embraces is removed from the battle.
  
• Crushing Embrace (Active): "Grant us hugs, grant us hugs. Cuddle our brains, to cleanse our beastly idiocy." Alanis partially summons It That Embraces trapping foes within its crushing embrace. Victims take an increasing amount of damage each turn and must pass a STR roll to escape, if they do not attempt to escape, they take additional damage. At time of casting, Alanis may choose to disable Mantle of the Embrace for the duration of the effect in exchange for increasing the spell's power. This is considered a Magical Melee type attack.
  
• Always Prepared (Passive): Because it pays to be paranoid. Alanis enters battle with a full-power Kinetic Shell.
  
  • v2.0: Because it pays to be paranoid. Alanis enters battle with weakened Kinetic Shells stacked on her. The number of stacked Kinetic Shells is equal to the level of this action.
• Livewire (Passive): Upon being struck by a Magical attack, Alanis' arcane power surges forth using her attacker's own spell as a conduit, dealing Magic damage proportional to the attack's raw power. This is considered a Ranged attack if the attack was Ranged, and Melee if the attack was Melee.
  
  • v1.5: Upon being struck by a Magical attack, while using Basic Defense, Alanis' arcane power surges forth using her attacker's own spell as a conduit, dealing Magic damage proportional to the attack's raw power. This is considered a Ranged attack if the attack was Ranged, and Melee if the attack was Melee.
