Vishnu helps with any project where they'd need him, offering his aid with a polite demeanor

Seeing Zero take the lead, Carla lays down the pulverizer in exchange for a nice chunk of space rock. The dust covered mutant starts to clear the pit.

Pulling the crushed rocks out of the hole is easier than it looks, due to the microgravity, though the sense of being barely able to stay on the asteroid poses some difficulty. As the crucible is currently indoors, they bring it outside to avoid having to cycle the airlock for every armful of rocks. They set it up and start feeding in the rocks, and soon it starts spitting out sheets of aluminum, ready for construction, and chunks of slag, composed of the minerals the machine cannot currently separate. It will probably take the rest of the 24-hour cycle to process all the rocks, and give enough aluminum to start building an enclosed space, but in there is still enough time yet for more digging, or discussion.

Fee leaps over the fissure, aided by the extremely low gravity, and compares one of the prints to the bottom of her space boot. The pattern seems to match, alright. Then again, don't all the space suits have the same kind of soles? Well, Carla's got that modified one. Still, the size looks right, too. She realizes that they've been landed for the greater half of a 24 hour cycle. Perhaps it might be time to head back soon?

"Hey people!" Carla radios, a lot louder than she expects. "Is there anything else to do or should we just call it a day?"

After staring off into space for a bit, the mutant goes back inside and relaxes.

Laying on a bed, a mutant's eyes are closed, but mind is wide open. She thinks of how just twenty-four hours earlier, her house drove a slow, yet fluid, drive through space. Now her house has crashed landed safely into a rock and drilled itself securely emplace. She thinks of home. Her compañeros back at the rodeo must still be singing at bonfires. Her familia still must be laughing as well as crying despite the cult's ridged grasp on mutant life. Would this ever be her new home? Would these people be her new friends? Eyes still closed, Carla blindly throws her arm off to the side of the bed until it catches her hat. She lays the sun-soaked straw over her face in hopes that it will shade her brown face from the bright glowing awe and bewilderment of her mind.

The colonists makes their way back to the pod, where those that need to will sleep until the end of the 24-hour cycle. Though there's gravity here, it's not much, so most of them sleep with the beds activated, spinning at a gently increasing speed until the centrifugal force approximately matches Earth's gravity. "Overnight," the crucible finishes processing all the rocks they loaded into it.

+900 Aluminum
+1800 Slag
+900 Oxygen
Compressor is full. Discharge excess oxygen, or overpressure pod?
-1215 Food

New fabrications available:

Aluminum Panels: (100 AL each) Basic modular construction component. Can be fitted together to enclose a space airtightly. Number needed to enclose a space depends on how many open sides a space has. The pit, for instance, needs only a roof to be sealed.

Carla worryingly looks at the stocks of food. It will run out soon.
She thinks of how back on Earth, the ground used to provide life for her animals and people. Maybe the ground of 217-β could do the same. Carla analyzes Vishnu's meteorite samples from yesterday.

Jason notices Carla looking worriedly at the remaining food supplies and nearly slaps himself. "Oh, that's what we forgot to do." He immediately gets to work on constructing additional hydro-pods.

Using the spectrometer and a microscope (and plenty of reference to digital encyclopedias), you analyze the fragments as best you can. The samples from the large meteorite seem to be almost pure iron, with five-percent nickel alloyed. A very durable natural alloy.

You realize a severe complication: your current life-support efficiently recycles the chemicals you have, converting waste back to food, clean water, and breathable air, but to expand the system, you're going to need more volatiles.

New Fabrications:
Fluid Tank: Additional compressed storage space for liquids or gasses. 2 capacity for every 1 aluminum, 1 iron needed for every 50 capacity.

Upgrade Crucible: (100 Aluminum, 200 Iron, 1 E-Crucible) With some adjustments, the crucible will be able to separate more materials, from both the asteroid rock and form already smelted slag.

Hydroponic Unit: (200 Aluminum, 100 Water, 100 Ammonia each) Grows food from recycled waste. Unfortunately, you can't match the output of the one you brought with you with your available manufacturing techniques, so each unit would only produce 200 food by the end of the week. Needs to be able to circulate with the Recyclor to work properly.

Fee goes wandering again. This time grabbing easily carried smaller meteorites.
You commence your gathering. Perhaps this will help get more material, and at the very least some knew data if your friends can analyze these. As you remember from yesterday, small fragments litter the dust in their small craters every so often. Hmm, you might need something to carry these in if you're going to gather very many, though.
