Big Rock Beta - "Dawn" of the Second Day (IC)
« on: October 22, 2015, 07:51:25 pm »

OOC, including rules: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=153440.0

You have arrived. As your pod crashes into 217-β, firmly embedding itself with the drill-bolts, your 3-month journey comes to an end. It's been a long, cramped flight, but now it's finally time to get started on those big dreams. There's only enough stored food left for a couple weeks, but you're confident that with hard work, it won't be a problem. The orbital period's 2.5 years, and with 217-β's rotation being perpendicular, you'll be spending half of that facing away from the sun. The Federal Space Enterprise will probably be sending a visit that will arrive shortly before then, though, so if you wanted them to bring anything, you'd have a few months in which to ask, if you don't mind losing your pride in self-sufficiency.

Your new life begins now!

Structures/Items:

Hydropod: Grows food from energy and recycled waste. Needs 100 energy per day, produces 1000 food at the end of every week. 1 space (indoors)
Recyclor: Recycles air and waste (the latter only if people use it right, because it doubles as the toilet). 200e. 2 spaces (indoors)
Electrolysis Crucible: Produces 25 oxygen, 25 aluminum, and 50 slag from every 100 rock. 2 spaces (indoors)
Gas Compressor: Stores air, capacity 2000 (starts filled). 1e per 10 units to fill. 2 spaces (outdoors)
Communications antenna: Sends and receives radio signals. 25e, but only drains when in use. 1 space (outdoors)
Radar: Detects objects in nearby space. 25e, but only drains when in use. 1 space (outdoors)
Solar Panels (2x): Provide 500e each, but only when facing the sun. (1 space each, outdoors)
Pod Battery: Holds up to 400e. Starts charged. 1 space (outdoors)
Pulverizer (3x): Large hand-held powertool used for digging. 1e per space dug. 900 rock per space dug.

Food: 1885
1000/week income
-1215/day cost

Vishnu III looks at the vast landscape in front of him. Taking a deep breath, as it was programmed into i´him to resemble humans a bit more, he gazes upon his new home.

Pants, check. Sleeveless shirt, check. Poncho, check. Straw sombrero? The young mutant turns her head towards the hat. She stopped regularly wearing the earthly headgear well over two months ago when she realized that she didn't need to hide her hazel eyes from the constant blazing sun anymore. Now all dressed, the dark skinned woman wanders her way through the single-pod space capsule. After three months of quietly traveling through space, it all came to an abrupt crashing end as the capsule punched itself into 217-β. She and her fellow colonist would now start a new life on the big space rock. After drifting around for a bit, the human-bat mutant finds an older gentleman and blue skinned robotic humanoid staring out into great expanse of their asteroid home.

"What are you all doing here?" Carla asks as she approaches to the others. "Are we meeting up to talk about what we’re going to do now?"

(Intended the pod as a 1-roomed thing, since it's build economically (IE cheap). Point is, it's a bit cramped. Also, should mention that you've got enough EVA suits for anyone that needs them, though Carla's is a bit restrictive.)

Your pod's airlock points right out onto the surface of the asteroid, and it's been 3 months since any of you have been outside this room. Some of you might be feeling the itch to explore. Additionally, the solar panels affixed to the outside of the capsule could probably be placed better, and you're going to need some materials if you want to start building your utopia.

Thomas emits a few rapid beeps of recognition, nods to his mixed company and shuffles toward the airlock, gesticulating toward it with one of his many spindly appendages.
"I hunger for good power," the drone rasps out. "Perhaps we can talk after some of us cut down the solar arrays and move them to better ground."

Jason walks outside and looks at those staring out into the horizon and speaks out in a loud but friendly voice. "Well come on guys! Let's get to work." He then moves to relocate and calibrate the solar panels.

Carla grabs her EVA suit and struggles into it. Once outfitted, she proceeds to assist Jason with the solar panels.

Zero gets in his evosuit and leaves to prospect the asteroid, and to move the solar panels around to better points as best he can.
