The idea behind a standalone SAL is that a dedicated weapon can be produced cheaper, so we don't need to spend as much ressources simply guarding our rear.

Well, let's include the plasma lens and make it a much more powerful cannon, if we can heat up the air around the missile and planes enough, no laser proofing will matter.  Since it will be ground based lets put it on a hover chassis also so it can land then put all it's power into it's cannon.

We should attempt to kidnap and recruit that general before he gets too far. It isn't his fault we had military superiority.

Gul-Tuck Underground Anti Air Drone
A fusion powered digging vehicle equipped with a laser drill and powerful robotic arms for movement under the earth.  It has a large plasma lens laser cannon capable of destroying aircraft and missiles when surfaced.  It will dig out a series of tunnels in it's area of operation and can then move from one tunnel entrance to another, taking down enemy aircraft from many different positions.

I'm afraid the underground digging is too gimmicky. On the other hand, the tech could be fun for other vehicles...

Eh, no point in burrowing vehicles for the time being. Mind you, if we just got an extra two production lines, those poor bastards have to deal with a LOT more Karsts :D

That being said, Working on a better fighter seems like the best bet for now.

Erek Fighter Craft
A significantly larger craft, akin to the human fighters in size, and with a mass to match. Using a fusion engine to power the beast, along with a veritable array of weaponry to make it an exception air superiority craft. With a nasal gauss cannon, a quartet of plasma-lensed lasers and a pair of missile racks carrying around five air-to-air missiles, all fitted with a potent explosive. Whilst still piloted by AI, the size of the craft permits a far more powerful one compared to the Ki'k.

My impression is that our Ki'K did well, they were outnumbered and rolled badly and still manage to get a decent exchange rate.

I still think we need a cheap design to protect SA, and for our revision I'd like to revise our combat drop pods to use those lasers for point defense.

To be fair, as the Karst showed. It doesn't hurt to start bringing out the really cool shit :P

Besides, make some laser rifles, hand them to the human populace and use them as guardsmen. Problem solved in regards to defense :P

Edit: Woa, we REALLY did get two more porductions lines? I though we were the "high-tech, low number" side, now we can drown them in design.

I think the issue is that the human players don't have an evident way to get more productions lines, they can't exactly invade continent after all. 10ebbor10, you might want to point them in the right direction.

Edit: The Karst did so well because we got lucky and designed a gauss tank the turn they design their unit to be laser resistant. :p

Which make me think, maybe PD isn't a good idea. Now that they have laser, I think they might design a laser AA gun, against which PD is useless.

Well, they can. Anyway, the primary way for them to get new production lines is to defend against the alien menace. For example, they did just get 2 new production lines in their two allied countries.

Their sub has a laser.

I know about their sub, but it's one sub and they can't really produce more of them. And it can only be in one place. But if they get the technology in more vehicles...

But then, how do we get our troops safely on the ground?

Simple, we don't give them the chance to fire.
