Settlers [Turn 5]
« on: August 10, 2015, 07:21:39 pm »

Welcome to Arstok, a world completely untouched by the likes of man. The first thing you can recall is existing on the surface. You've no knowledge of modern technology, the most you can recall being the basics of survival. However, this is not about mere surviving. This is about thriving.

[Welcome. This RTD is my attempt to create a more open, less guided RTD than the usual one I do. Most RTD's I create die, either due to a loss of player interest, or me being a terrible terrible GM. I'm hoping that this one will help me revitalize my old RTD-running passion.]

In the world of Arstok, no one is superior to another just by basics. Everyone begins equal, albeit clothed, and everything up there will be to you. Will you stick with the group, or will you split off and attempt to scrape by on your own. Will you form a political system with rulers, or will everyone remain equal forever. [This RTD allows players to set up their own government, and make whatever decision they want. I just plead that any decision you make be based on a system of roleplay. Also, please don't go on a killing massacre from turn one. If you do wish to kill everyone, at least wait until you have motivation.]

[This RTD will have a weird time system. The first turns will take course over a few minutes. This will proceed until you have all the basics of survival established: Source of Food, Source of Water, Shelter, and some kind of tool to protect yourselves from the creatures of the world, most likely a crude stabbing device. Once you have all that done, the turns will begin to take place over longer periods of time, probably hours. Once you have a more stable shelter, domesticated livestock, et cetera, turns will begin to take course over days. Once society has developed, they may take years and decades as technological development takes over.]

[The world of Arstok is unlike Earth in many ways. The soil is pitch black, and the grass grows a pale shade of blue, but glows when it rains. The chemical makeup of the world is almost identical however. The flora and fauna are much different and have adapted to their specific niche in many ways. I will not name them, but simply describe them to you. It will be up to you to name them. You can either call them "Big Teeth Rat" for example, or something more mysterious, like "Fretsa". I don't care. Just don't call them "$h!t%u%king!"]

Character Creation:

Name: [Do I really have to say what this is?]
Sex: [Male or Female]
Physical Description: [Tall and Strong, or Stout and Fat. Blonde, Brown Hair, Green Eyes, Attached Earlobes, be as descriptive as you want.]
Mental Description: [Likes and dislikes. Think of it as creating a dwarf fortress page. Leave this minimal at the moment: Just put in some very broad categories. As you explore the planet and discover fauna and flora you can add which ones you like or hate from experience here.]

[I don't decide who you are in this world, you do through your own actions.]

[Rolls will be done in a typical D6 sense: 1 = Tragic Fail, 2 = Fail, 3 = Kinda Fail, Kinda Succeed, 4 = Succeed, 5 = Succeed Greatly, 6 = Either Awesome or Terrible, depends on what you were trying to do.]

[I'll try to keep updates daily or once every two days, but expect the first few turns to be pumped out as quickly as possible to set the stage.]

On a hill sparsely coated with small patches of vegetation and the majority of ground being covered by hard rock, the creatures there you find are some of the hardiest, most versatile creatures that exist. A group of hard-shelled herbivores are scrounging around blindly on the forest floor for the smallest amount of sustenance when they encounter a new creature none have ever encountered before. A few seconds later, they discover several more of these creatures. However, they are not intelligent enough to recognize this fact, and continue scrounging along. The group of humans, blinking away some debris from their eyes, stare around their surroundings. They note that in every direction around them, their small patch of trees gives way to unforgiving hard rock patches. The group all look at each other, and take note of everyone else. Two females and three males. Most are young and fit, but one male is rather old.

[Alright. If you want any more information about your surroundings, use your turn to investigate them. You all speak a language that the others understand, so feel free to communicate. Be polite ^.^]

Alan stretches a bit and sits down to relieve the pressure on his aching neck and back.  Despite the slight pain, Alan is in a good mood.  It's good to see trees again, he thinks to himself.  He turns his head slightly toward the others, and says:

"This looks like a good spot.  Much more pleasant to the eyes than the wastelands we've traveled past.  How are all of you feeling?  I'm feeling a bit sore myself, but I've got a good feeling about this place."

(So, do we already know each other, or is this the first time all of us are truly meeting eachother?)

Alan stretches a bit and sits down to relieve the pressure on his aching neck and back.  He looks around at the people near him, unable to remember who they are, or why he's even here.  Sigh...I really am getting old.  Even my memory is slipping now, Alan thinks to himself.  He looks toward the others with a slightly confused expression, saying:

"Hello everyone.  How are all of you feeling?  Pardon my confusion, but I'm afraid that I've forgotten what I came here for.  I also...don't recognize any of you.  It seems my old age is catching up with me, so I apologize.  Would it be a bother for someone to remind me of what I'm doing?"

Observe surroundings, especially the plant life in this area.

((You said forest floor is that a mistake?))

"Ow my neck," Mary stretches out her neck, to get rid of the crick. "That's better, hi all I can't remember anything either,  but we need to get supplies, so do you want to follow the herbavoires, they need water too."

Follow the herbavoires, also look up

((I'm assuming we know we need supplies and have survival instincts))

[I've changed my mind about observing and examining taking up a turn. Instead, things like moving around and observing/scouting will take a normal turn, while examining a nearby object or looking at your surroundings will not normally take a roll, and will be done inbetween turns. The only rolls for these will involve if there is danger to be seen, and these rolls will be hidden.]

[Alan]
The trees grow tall above Alan's head, the lowest branches beginning at least two meters taller than he is. However, on the lowest branches, he can see small little semi-transparent orbs. He can't make out any more details, but he thinks they look almost fruit-like. Above them, the leaves of the tree are a dull shade of blue, and wave ever so slightly in the breeze. On the floor of the forest, small shrubs of a similar color to the leaves gently sway.

[Rob]
Rob observes the shelled creatures as they continue to move away from the group. One of them encounters a shrub. Two small limbs suddenly slash out in a scything motion, cutting the shrub down. The creature moves on top of the shrub, and makes a few sounds which could almost be described as happy noises. When it skitters on, all that remains is the stalk, so Rob assumes only the leaves are edible.

((You said forest floor is that a mistake?))
[No, you are surrounded by a small patch of trees. It's hardly a forest, but it has the floor makeup of a typical woodland: decaying leaves, soil, et cetera.]

((I'm assuming we know we need supplies and have survival instincts))
[Of course. You're not quite zombies. You're as intelligent as a modern human when it comes to decision making, you just don't remember/know anything about technology.]

[Also, if looking up is meant to be an examination/observation roll, then just see Alan's turn for details]
