The fight with Zachery and Vigil ended well enough. Even with one arm, Vigil is still a dangerous foe, what with his skills in melee over Zachery.

In the end, no one who have been betting made any fortune, and some people grumbled. But they are quickly reminded that while the Company have been generous enough to let them use the company time to host such a thing that, as far as the executives up high see, is a waste of money, they might not be generous enough to not fire you and feed you to murderhobos or turning you into Foxhound's next live test subject if you continue to make a problem out of it.

That quickly got everything right back to working order in record time.

WEEK 4/4
First Castle. Operation: Brutal Vanguard.

Today's the day you set out. You've already been briefed about the operation, plans laid and your transports prepped. If you have any last minute things to do, now's the time to do them before it's time to board your Transports and have it pushed through the gate.

The higher ups have sent words that they tried getting you bigger artillery pieces, but the two 105mm howitzers that they've managed to obtain was the best they could do. They'll send two more along with a few mortars with the second wave after you've established a holding on the other side, though.

Tal's suggestions on giving every squad proper military-grade Hazmat suits were accepted, and everyone was given suits. 'Just in case.' They've got biometric lock on the crate that hold the extremely dangerous and lethal Sarin gas shells in the support and supply transport, coded to open by Tal's finger and password which they've told him, as he's the sanest person in the whole op who's probably not going to open it and throw the thing around for shits and giggles.

Which is also the reason why they've appointed Tal to oversee the whole Op. With how much they're spending on this, they want something incredible back in return. And hopefully the castle will provide.

The vehicles provided to Foxhound is clearly the best out of all the other vehicles in the Op, with the both of them being acceptably modern light armored vehicles, one armed with 30mm auto-cannon with dual-select fire between High-Explosive Incendiary Tracer and Armor-Piercing Tracer, and a TOW launcher strapped to the side of the turret. It of course comes with .50BMG coaxial machine gun.

And the another is a similar vehicle, but in the place of the 30mm cannon is a turret of quad 20mm auto-cannon. 'For the flying stuff.' they said. Understandably, both A and B Carmine are practically drooling over the vehicles, but it's going to at least need two people to man just one of the vehicles anyway. They decided that maybe the Doctors can be stuck into the vehicles to be their gunners or something to help man the thing.

The other squads weren't as lucky, however. They got oldish jeeps and technicals with .50 cals on them or small anti-aircraft guns that you had to aim manually. Like the ones they used some three or so hundred years ago. Though Battle Brothers got the better of the lot and was assigned 2 of the Company's armored SUVs. Retrofit for a fight, of course. One of them's equipped with a Chaingun on the open top and the other got an automatic grenade launcher, which is pretty neat.

Is there any last inspection Tal wants to do or anything anyone else want to do before heading over for the siege?

Techies are to go over all the vehicles. Make sure there aren't any wiretaps, bugs, mics, hidden cams, or anything that could be remotely triggered to cause problems.

Tal assembles all the main squads before mission launch to check in with them. ((A bit of rp stuff here mainly.))

Drones loaded. ((We have what. 640ish Units? A given drone with a decent loadout being around 40? This is rounding so we're prolly wasting money, but with this number of cannon fodder might as well make it easier on the GM. Soooo 14 drones and two more Rome Recon Drones. Four armed with Unit rocket launchers. Four with Gatling guns. The rest with LMG's. All have that Phalanx anti bal system. Rome drones are unarmed excluding whatever prototypes R&D churns out.))

Zachary, who is maybe the second or third sanest guy, stands beside Tal until it's time to board. He will fly in the Ravager as a reserve/co-pilot

Under Tal's order, the initial teams gathered! seperated into their respective squads with Foxhound behind Tal. During this time for whatever Tal want to tell or ask of the squads is a good time for the collective of Techies to go over the vehicles, checking nooks and canny for anything odd.

Good news about the Rome Recon drones, every one of yours are replaced by the R&D Prototype that's got the Phalanx Anti-Ballistic built into it's chassis. Thanks to upgraded power tech, they were able to mount more powerful engines on the drones thus increasing it's carrying capacity. In theory, your Recon drones should now have some limited defense against Anti-Air missiles as well as offensive capability if required. Though it's probably be best used as an automatic hinderance to cover their retreat if anything's chasing it through the air. It increases the drone's survivability all the same.

Even better news, R&D let you have the latest prototype design of the laser gun with what is essentially a nuclear reactor backpack. Now with an automatic failsafe switch to prevent catastrophic meltdown and turn the immediate surrounding area into chernobyl.

A not-so-great news is that the Higher-ups would like some live captives, if possible. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, a live Rusher captive would be awesome enough. They'll reward bounties for the live captives depending on their rarity and usefulness. Every squad's been given high-voltage taser guns, elephant tranquilizers and of course, modified police stun batons for deliverance of rightious justice.

Now that everyone's gathered, techies checking on the vehicles already loaded up in the transport, one very important question remains.

Are your drones legged, threaded or wheeled varients?

As normal the drones are legged.

Captives should be relatively easy, there's always a fairly large number of notdead but crippled Rushers in a given horde after they get mowed down.

Now for the talking to the squads.

"Greetings everyone. I am Doctor Tal Nalvi. Apparently I'm in charge of the expedition this time around. Ideally you all know what we're about to go do. However based on the levels of attention span shown among various personal in various departments, including certain members of Foxhound, I would not be surprised if at least one of you had no idea what was going on, so for their benefit, we are about to go siege a Castle. We will begin the engagement at extreme range, there is absolutely no point in charging on in early on unless you feel like dying horribly. There may or may not be survivors of the last attempt to assault this castle, if there are survivors then I am very curious what they've been eating and drinking, as well as how that may have affected them. Should survivors be encountered, they are to be detained if plausible and killed if not. If you have any strange dreams during the engagement, write them down. The more data the better."

"This is the largest Castle this corporation has attempted to siege. The last attempt was an abysmal failure due to a lack of very basic tactics. Do not split up, do not stray from the group. Always look up. The walls have eyes. The floors probably have teeth so watch your step. Anything and everything within the building wants you dead. You are a trespasser and should behave as such. Extremely cautious is the only good mindset within the structure's walls. If you see a statue, it may or may not want you dead. Be wary. Always keep a sensor suite online and always always always check the ceiling."

"If any of you encounter a library, grab as many books as you can, any data is good data. Once we set up the staging area, I will be demonstrating exactly why books should be given priority. Foxhound will be paying a bounty for certain types of books should they be recovered."

"Now that all that talking is done. Introduce yourselves! I would like to know who I am working with."

The apparent squad leader of Battle Brothers steps forward to start first immediately after Tal finishes before anyone can object. "Chief Security Officer Krieger of Section C, formerly. Currently de-facto Squad leader of 'Battle Brothers' Gate team. Survived two castles previously, lost four members and absorbed a broken and dismantled squad 'For Loots.' to fill in the gasp." He introduced. "Currently rated second best in the Company."

Another man step up from another squad after he's done. "James C-" He was then cut off by the third squad leader.

a bear of a man that looked very much like an American football player shouted over him. "STAFF SERGEANT MAX FIGHTMASTER OF THE SPESS MEHREENS! [YEAH!] WE'RE YOUR HEAVY GUNS! [YEAH!]"

The Republican's Squad lead seems somewhat irritated to that, but continues in a very thick british accent. "James Cromwell, Designated leader of The Republicans. One, previous experience with a castle, two deaths in the squad. Pleasure to be of service."

"..snk.. Fightmaster?" Jenny couldn't help it.

"Current experience level, number of castles encountered, and death toll among the Marines? I would also like a name."

"I would like a general experience level for Battle Brothers and Republicans as well. Specialties would be ideal to know as well."

"One failed mission and one successful mission. We review video footage from your squad and tries exactly that." Krieger answered.

"Previous mission was a failure. But we successfully extracted from the fight. Our specialties would be marksmanship if I have to say so myself." The leader of the Republicans answered.

"ONE CASTLE PRIOR, SUCCESS! SEVEN DEATHS! AND IT'S STILL STAFF SERGEANT MAX FIGHTMASTER, SIR!" The Mehreen's lead shouted so hard you swear you can see the veins in his neck.

"Well, Max, keep yelling at us and you'll find yourself missing a vital organ. You don't need the higher-ups to hear you in their soundproof bunkers, you know?" Zach says, spinning a knife casually on his glove as he waits.
